Chapter 214 - 214 - Nascent wishes

*

A newborn magical girl, her heart burns with a blazing passion that brings the surrounding temperature up. Elegant golden blond bangs that shine against the dark evening, a military esque gothic outfit fully fitted with an officer's cap. Greyish blue cloak that floats away from the rushing gale, gold buttons that mark her uniform blouse. A couple of thick belts, one holding up the fabric of her blouse and another sitting above short skirt, like the aesthetics of gangsters from another era.

Tall grey boots lined with red embroidery and gold ornaments, their tips reflect the crimson glow of her magic magnificently. Her body glowed with a crimson aura, her magic, unique skills that every magical girl possess, wraps around her body. She could feel an unfamiliar warmth caress her skin, tickling her senses. She rested her grey gloves on her hips, due to the emphasis by her skirt, her hips seem to look far larger than before.

She should be disoriented, but strangely enough she was able to move her body smoothly, despite the difference in her height and the length of her limbs. She observed her enemies carefully, they observe her back. These two aren't like the fodder from before, she awakened as a D grade magical girl and her magic happened to boost all her stats to that of a C grade.

The problem with that was that it expended magical energy at an excessive rate. She doesn't have any chance to defeat these two commander level Vampire Traces, as even after being enhanced she's barely at the edged of C grade. Roughly the same level as the fodder soldiers. It's not looking good, even boosted this much she can't intimidate them. She's pretty much a harmless scarecrow for these two. Even so, she must try her best.

After all, she's a magical girl.

She leaped backwards, one of the vampires closed the distance mid air. Swinging her right fist, he catches it before swinging back.

"Guhah!" (Faramicia)

Struck in the navel, she continues flying backwards from the momentum. Strange, this way she can keep running. Or did they see her as such a non threat that they were indifferent if she escaped? That's troubling, she's here to protect people, not run away. She strains her neck to look up, her eyes squint under the pain spreading through her abdomen, and she saw...

The vampire she hit the palm of, he was bleeding. Why? How? He caught the punch didn't he? Then... Despite her physical ability being unable to match up, her magic had some secondary effect other than boosting her own stats? He could have been injured before they met, the two were observing her for quite a few seconds, enough for both parties to get a good look at each other. If he was hiding his injuries, why reveal it now?

She slams her left arm into the ground, barely stopping herself before the second vampire punched into the ground next to her, forming a webbed crater. Using that opportunity, she sprung with both legs like coils and regained her footing over the roof of a nearby house. Barely dodging the second vampire, her line of thought was cut.

The second vampire was trying to ambush her with overwhelming physicality. He's now wary of physical contact, iti jured his comrade after all. Faramicia couldn't beat them up, but her magic might have caused that damage to the previous vampire Trace. She didn't understand much herself, but she needed to act like she did. She stands on the roof before leaping away. If she stood still, she's just opening herself up to attacks.

They're faster and stronger than her, they can kill her faster than her magic can injure the. She didn't even understood the mechanism of her own magic, the opponent being injured was nothing short of a miracle to her. Even so, they're vampires. With {Incongruity}, their bodies elude reality. Even 'permanent' injuries are not permanent for them. Body morphing magic can't indefinitely disfigured them. That's the monstrous extent of regeneration they have, what Faramicia did just now was pretty much a tiny scratch that already quickly dissipated a while ago.

The sky had gone dark, the invasion had lasted the whole morning and the missile came just afterwards. The global military and the vampire army was gone, reduced to ashes. There were numerous vampire stragglers and the only ones left who could fight were magical girls. No doubt, her enemy could locate her by the rapid breaths she was exhaling, the darkness would not pose a threat to them if it didn't even impede her.

As a magical girl, her eyes were enhanced along with the rest of her body, it was as if she had night vision. Though it wasn't like infrared or glaringly bright, to her the sky looked to be stuck in early evening with a vibrant sea blue hue. She can't lose here, not to them. Step by step, she navigated the rooftops then moves on to the streets. Along the way, a few more vampires caught on and she practically had a ravenous crowd chasing her. She vanished from their sight, hidden behind the walls of houses.

As stragglers, they weren't very good at coordinating. She reaches her hand around the corner, grabbing one of the weaker vampires and punching its head off. Her fist glowed crimson embers, turning the spot where she punched into ashes. It felt like she was still discovering new things about her skill. This must be what caused that commander level vampire to be injured. He was likely completely healed by now, she had to keep moving.

She runs into a house that looked empty, diving between the rooms to lose the crowd of vampires. When she isolates them, she kills them, leaving a headless corpse. Gradually, she reduces the numbers until only the commander level vampires were left. They were persistent, likely having far more stamina than she did. These two are different. They aren't ordinary stragglers, other than being stronger than the rest they were also intelligent enough to avoid isolation. Weirdly enough it felt like there weren't many stragglers in this zone, as if these two are the last.

They size each other up once more over the roof. These two have higher than average intelligence, they understood the danger of a magical girl's mystics, her unique skill. Even if her stats are low, a magical girl's skill contains unfathomable mystery.
