~AMELIA~
A soft knock hit my door, and Kaden walked in before I could even blink right.
“Stay in bed,” he told me.
I sat up fast, and the blanket slid down my waist.
“Why is everybody moving like somebody set the place on fire? Should I get dressed?” I asked, and I rubbed my eyes while trying to wake up fully.
Kaden crossed his arms, and he stayed planted near the door.
“No, I want every guard in place before Leo gets even a tiny hint of our plans,” he answered, and his jaw tightened while he spoke.
I swung my legs over the bed, and the floor felt cold under my feet.
“You did all of this before sunrise?” I asked, and I stood up while reaching for my robe.
He took the robe from the chair and handed it over, and his eyes kept checking my face like I might fall over.
“Yes, I didn’t want to disturb you,” he replied, and he pointed toward the hall. “I kept it off the pack channel, and I did it on purpose.”
I followed him out, and my heart was already beating faster.
