The soft sound of grass crunching and various animals frolicking emanated under the soft sunset at around 7:30 p.m. Darren, instead of going straight home, decided to grab a bite to eat and walk to the farm instead of taking the bus. He knew his parents wouldn't be pleased, but he couldn't help it, honestly. Japan was a beautiful place to him that he could sing praises about for days.
Darren eventually reached the door to his house, but as soon as his hand touched the doorknob, an overwhelming sense of dread assaulted his mind. He quickly pushed the door open and saw… nothing.
Although Darren couldn't see anything, he still felt nervous, so he went directly to his parents' room. Every time his foot stepped on the hardwood floor, a wave of anxiety and despair crept into his brain. It felt like an eternity when he reached his parents' room, and when he opened the door, he saw something that he would never be able to erase from his memory, no matter how hard he tried.
THEY WAS GETTING FREAKY!!!
Millie had Moxxie pinned down on the bed and was going to town on his mouth whilst grinding up against his crotch. Moxxie was letting out quiet moans as he grabbed Millie's ass and started to-
'OKAY THAT'S ENOUGH!'
Darren slowly closed the door and robotically walked back to his room. He closed the door behind him and laid on his bed, crying. "My sixth sense was trying to warn me. Why didn't I trust my gut?!"
Darren thought before laying on his back and feeling something weird scrape across his back pocket. Darren wiped his tears away and grabbed the object, bringing it to his face. He couldn't even see what the object was since it was covered in what seemed to be paper talismans with various symbols. "What the heck?" Darren thought. "When did I even pick this up?"
He put his other hand to the object and tried to pull one of the talismans away to see what the object was. To his surprise, the talismans ripped away without any force, even though they seemed to be wrapped pretty tight.
Darren, eager to have something to forget about his parents' freaky activities, hurriedly ripped the talismans off, only to see… a finger? The finger was a deep red color, resembling blood, while the nail looked as dark as the void. "Even looking at this thing is freaking me the hell out. I'm not keeping this thing," Darren thought.
Darren got back up and walked into the hallway, trying to ignore the
PLAP PLAP PLAP
sounds coming from his parents' bedroom. He went outside to throw the finger away. Darren went to the nearest street, which was about a mile away, and decided to drop the finger there and forget about it.
He took the finger out of his back pocket and threw it into the field across the street and dusted his hands off. "Now all I gotta do is go back home, close my eyes, and deny reality like it never happened."
HUFF HUFF HUFF
Before Darren could finish his thought, he heard heavy breathing coming directly behind him and felt breathing on his neck.
Darren slowly looked back and saw something he would say a few days later he would regret looking at.
It was grotesque, far too ugly to be even humanoid. It was a dark, swampy green with only a mouth with its tongue out being the only discernible feature on its face. It was cross-eyed, with both of its eyes dilating and returning to normal with a crazed look, one staring at Darren and the other at the finger.
Darren looked at the thing in fear, frozen, unable to move his mind, unable to comprehend what it was even staring at. His legs were shaking uncontrollably and his breath shortened, letting out a quiet scream. Eventually, he got control of himself and shakily backed up into the street, keeping his eyes on the thing at all times.
He blinked once.
In a single blink, the being disappeared from his sight completely. Darren quickly looked around and saw the thing heading for the finger he threw into the field. While it was distracted, Darren quickly ran back to his house while thinking aloud.
"What the fuck? What the fuck? What the fuck? What the fuck?"
Darren ran as fast as he could, going even faster than he ever thought he could. Eventually, he saw the outskirts of the farm, and his heart leapt for joy. "It's all just a dream," he thought. "All I gotta do is get to bed, and I'll wake right back up like nothing ever happened."
THUD
Darren flew to the side, hitting and cracking a tree. His mind didn't catch up to what happened in the moment, but when it did, all he felt was pain in his side. It felt hard to breathe or even move.
The thing, now with a malevolent grin on its face, slowly approached Darren, mocking him. It knew he couldn't escape and smiled at his despair-filled face.
"I… I'm gonna die here? There's so much… so much I haven't done. I haven't gotten my first kiss, I haven't confessed to Rumi yet, I haven't finished high school. I haven't done anything… but most of all…"
His parents flashed in his mind. Their warm smiles, his father's unintentional hilarity, his mother's optimistic attitude.
"I want my mom… I want my dad… I don't wanna die."
The thing raised its arm, ready to smash Darren into a fine red paste.
"I don't want to die."
It brought its arm down as Darren closed his eyes and weakly brought his arms in front of himself.
"I WANT TO LIVE!"
As if it heard Darren's thoughts, a white aura surrounded him right as the being struck him. Darren's arms immediately broke, but nothing came for his chest while screams emanated. Not feeling his arms because of shock, Darren opened his eyes and saw the cursed creature holding its rapidly disappearing hand. The disintegration spread very fast, and by the time Darren stood up, the thing was already dust in the wind.
"It's all just a dream. It's all just a dream."
He repeated robotically, not even noticing his arms were broken in the first place and not feeling the pain because of shock.
He slowly walked back towards his house on the farm. He stumbled in and walked towards his room, not even noticing the faster
PLAP PLAP PLAP
sounds coming from his parents' room. He opened his door and fell on his bed, white aura surrounding him.
The next morning
"Augh."
Darren groaned in bed. He rolled out of bed, fully stretched his body, and tiredly headed to the bathroom to do his morning routine.
"Thank God it's the weekend. The nightmare would've messed me up for the rest of the day."
As Darren was brushing his teeth, he saw the exact same white aura he saw yesterday surrounding him like a blanket. He couldn't help but mutter, "Holy shit, it was real."
