CHAPTER 62 - MESSENGERS
LUKE HODGES POV:
What!?
They are planning on attacking Agrona right now? It isn't the right time. First, we need to proceed with the war so that Aldir could go himself with a group of his own. Only until then, can we actually start the real war.
On the other hand, if we were to attack, his complete attention would be on us instead of the troops he sends to Dicathen. It would be a suicide mission.
"That's a mistake." I bluntly said after catching my breath. "His attention would be on us, that would be a suicide mission."
"You are no one to judge my Lord's orders." Windsom snarled at me, his eyes looking at me with disgust.
"You are right, I am no one or have any power to make the decision your lord has put on us but I am not risking my life on a mission that its option is a vague ticket home, alive." My words had gotten cold with some anger imbued in them.
Windsom, who at this point was getting angry at my true facts, was stopped by Aldir. Having his hand in front of the white slick-back haired asura, Aldir stepped forwards with his third eye narrowed.
"Explain yourself, lesser."
I sighed, "*Sigh* If you asuras think that a simple ambush is enough to get rid of Agrona, then there would be no need for unnecessary blood shed." By this time, I had recovered some mana, just enough to store my two swords. "The leader of Alacrya, Agrona Vritra, knows that Epheotus plans on assassinating him. And truth to be told, you asuras know this and still decide to walk to your honorless death. Some asuras will not get so lucky in welcoming death but rather become a test subject for him."
"You speak as if you know what Agrona Vritra is thinking about. Let me remind you lessers about something. Agrona is no simple man. As undignified as he is, he was once considered the prodigy for the Vritra clan as the smartest out of all his generation."
I fully turned my attention to them. "Does that include your lord?"
"That's enough! You have insulted my Lord and your punishment will be your head." Windsom let out his terrifying aura like water finally being able to leave a dam.
Aldir still stood on Windsom's side, his hand still obstructing his path towards me. "Calm yourself Windsom, we are here to deliver the news to the lesser, not to kill him."
"I apologize if I sounded rude but take my word for granted. Agrona is waiting for you guys, the asura, with his self-breeded Alacryan's. If you are still willing to go after my warning, some will be freed from Agrona's experimental obsession while others won't have that luxury."
"However…" in my right hand, stood freely a red and orange feather that represented a memory of a certain someone. "I have someone I want to save from Agrona's dungeon, so tell Lord Indrath that I am willing to join this 'army' when the time comes."
With my words, Windsom was able to calm down his anger but not entirely. I was grateful that Aldir was here and not someone else. Both didn't say anything.
"So is this something Lord Indrath gave you? To stop time?" I asked curiously, watching everything as it was different from what the novel would describe Static Void.
Aldir was the one to respond, "Yes, this is only a fraction of Lord Indrath's power."
"Of course it's only a fraction, and of course I can't comprehend his power scaling. Though, if I were to say something… why not transfer the words that I'm about to propose to Lord Indrath?"
***
I let out a simple breath before continuing what I was about to demonstrate to the students. Honestly, talking to these higher beings is quite stressful.
I shook my head left to right, pushing every single thought I had about the Asuras and Alacryans alike.
What I needed to do was to concentrate on school for at least after the dungeon raid.
The dust didn't settle, so I took advantage of it. One by one, I knocked out the students who were conjurers and augmentors alike. There were four people who were left: Arthur Leywin, Claire Bladeheart, Curtis Glayder, and Tessia Eralith.
There was one more but I knew he wouldn't want to fight me after what I had shown him today. He wouldn't be much of a fool.
I went to Claire first, seeing as she didn't respond to my surprise attack, her being unconscious is pretty big for now. But I was wrong.
Fire blazed from the front, before I dodged the spell, Claire showed herself with her blade pointed forwards. She had an angry facial expression, and a determination for not trying to lose.
"Great." I simply muttered. Already feeling a wide grin of pure excitement for this fight. The DC member began swinging her sword as her first attempt failed. She roared with power along with every single strike.
But I didn't have a weapon to respond to her feelings. That was until I found one not too far from me. No spell or technique was activated, only my movement and experiences as an adventurer helped me here.
The basic looking sword was next to a student I had knocked out, the blade pointing to my foot. I violently stomped my feet on the very tip of the blade, very low force and strength since I didn't want to break it.
I heard the very humming of the blade as it did cart wheels in the air.
Claire spotted this action of mine and decided to eliminate me before having a weapon.
"That's the right response, as the leader of the DC." My words seemed to be getting to her when her eyes had lost concentration in her objective. "However, you were too late to notice my actions."
The blade laced with a bright fire, something I tried doing during my adventurer time but foolishly failed and as a result lost connection with it, was blocked by the simple sword I had picked up.
"You will go down!" Claire's voice was honest and somewhat brutal to hear. But she had the spirit.
I didn't respond to her with words but rather with actions. Exchanging blows with a DC member who was potentially stronger than any professor in terms of raw power.
Her swings revolved around her fire attribute doing most of the damage, in some way it was similar to her uncle's.
As we kept going against each other, I felt an energy source that wasn't familiar to me.
Wait! This is…!?
"Don't forget about me!" Curtis roared on top of the world lion, his beast's will first phase activated. His hands went forward, releasing a huge amount of mana.
He was using his spell, again?
Heh…
"Do you think I wouldn't know that it takes time to conjure that spell?!" I yelled, shifting my attention to him when I subdued Claire, kicking her to the ground with a backflip. "Very naive of you Prince Glayder."
I expected Curtis to say something back but instead I got a smile. "Got you."
My alertness seemed to eased down because I was letting my ego grow along with my excitement.
Giant vines rose from the ground at an alarming speed, getting a hold of my right arm. With my dominant hand being taken over, I had no choice but to use my left arm. The three vines that held my right hand were easily cut down by my left hand.
I had used mana augmentation on the sword to cut vines without any struggle.
"That is enough! Now get a taste of what you dodged!"
The extreme feeling of what the spell radiated towards me was insane. Something like this was not possible without a beast's will, now imagine it without one.
This is truly exciting! Yes! Perhaps I will be able to break through if I continue to do this type of training–
My thoughts of excitement were cut short. The ground below began to shake with extreme aggressiveness. Not only that. The mana in the air seemed to be shaking and began to fly away from us like there was another greater thing than mana itself. Quaking like it was going to be hunted if it didn't leave that instant.
"W-what in the world?"
"Tessia!"
"Oh no! Move Tessia!"
A bright, giant red with orange, creating heat to the point where it felt like the sun itself, flew past into the direction of the elven Princess.
