All of a sudden, the lights snapped on. Xiao Qiao and Belle exchanged a look, and the few of them stared in terror at that whole row of… dried corpses.
Every single one of them really looked like a mummy.
All of them were skin and bones, skeleton-thin, just skin stretched over bone, horrifying to look at. Especially Nora, with that black flower spreading from her neck up half her face—ghastly to the extreme. Their eyes were meekly closed, silent and motionless.
Belle counted that whole row of mummies; there were nine of them. She'd nodded acquaintance with two of them before, not exactly close, but she knew them. Her gaze sank, carrying a chill.
"Too cruel."
It really was too cruel.
Xiao Qiao said, "We've been through all kinds of cruel shit, but this is honestly the cruelest thing I've ever seen."
Bai Ye's brows suddenly knit, his eyes narrowing dangerously. "Do you smell something?"
