CHAPTER : 11 : FOX MASK ATTACKS :
Location : Kusagakure No Sato / Village Hidden In The Grass :
Since the start of the Third Great Shinobi War the Kusagakure No Sato was invaded by the Iwagakure No Sato and hence serves as a critical point for their battle against Konohagakure No Sato who has influence over the region .
Just a few days ago a major battle took place as Iwagakure forces tried to take control of some riverside areas for crossing when they were intercepted by a small force of Kusagakure scouting force who intern informed the Konoha shinobis near by .
At first the battle was of small scale however as more and more reinforcements from both sides started to come the battle became big .
At the end however the Konoha shinobis managed to force the Iwagakure forces to retreat and even gain some grounds on the other side of the river .
However due to manpower shortages and possibility of a strong counter offensive by Iwagakure , the Konohagakure forces were pulled back to their original pre battle fortifications .
Right now the situation on this front was tense with hundreds of shinobis from both side engaging in various small scale battles mostly to probe each others weakness and plan accordingly afterwards .
A few kilometres to the river side where the battle took place the Iwagakure forces build another camp to guard the river crossing incase they needed to use it again or to stop Konohagakure forces from crossing the river and manage a surprise attack on them .
Location : Inside The Iwagakure Riverside Camp :
At this moment around 10 Genins , 3 Chunins and 1 Jonin were responsible guarding the camp .
And around 30 genins , 12 Chunins and 3 other Jonin were dispatched for scouting and engaging Konoha frontlines in small scale battles but were told to not to go too far from the camp .
Among the people in the camp the Genins were responsible for guarding the perimeters as the three Chunins and the Jonin were in a strategy meeting right now .
" So what do you think ? when are we going to attack again ? " - asked one of the impatient genin to his partner .
" I don't know but I think it will be in about a month or two . " - answered back his partner .
" From what I heard from our chunin instructor the battle is going in our favour I mean we hold at least 2 to 1 numerical advantage , so I am sure we can have a easy victory . " - said the first genin as he was quite confident in their victory .
" You shouldn't underestimate your opponents like this . "
" Remember what our chunin instructor said that Konoha shinobis are individually stronger than us and we must use our numbers to surround and defeat them . That's why the village is mobilizing such massive numbers of shinobis for this front . " - replied his partner annoyed by his partner's lack of seriousness .
" Yeah ! Yeah ! Whatever mister advisor I just want to finish this up and gain a lot of merit so that once I return to the village I will be treated as a hero . "
" You know when we will return we can have a huge party and I am sure there will be many who would like to go out on a date with me after I become a hero of the village . " - said the young inexperienced Genin who fell in a somewhat dream like state forgetting his duty as he continued to chat about his dream future .
But after a few seconds he realised something was not right .
" Hey I am talking to you why aren't you answering . " - it was then that he realised that his partner had stopped talking to him .
At first he became confused and a little angry thinking that his partner was deliberately ignoring him and he quickly turned around to look behind .
" Hey say something you ... " - he started speaking when he suddenly stopped as he found his partner laying on the ground motionless .
" What the ... " - However before he could react anymore he felt a sharp pain go through his body and he too fell to the ground .
The last thing he saw was a person in Fox mask coming from the shadows with a katana in his hand , after which his vision faded into darkness .
Soon the figure stepped forward looking at the now two downed genins and removed his mask for a few seconds showing a handsome face .
This person was non other than Okkotsu Yuta .
" Daydreaming in such times you shouldn't have come to the battlefield at all . " - he said to no one but himself and quickly disappeared from the area .
Then the scene continued similarly to other areas of the camp where same scenarios repeated itself as more and more genens fell silently to this new fox masked intruder .
The efficiency of this person was so strong that even if three or more genins were fighting together they couldn't last more than a few seconds , such that they wouldn't be able to even send word to alert the rest of the camp .
However this success didn't last long as finally a chunin who just came out of the command tent noticed the disturbance and came face to face with Yuta .
" Who in the world are you ? A Konoha shinobi ? But you don't look like their Anbu . " - said the chunin as he looked at this stranger in front of him with anger and caution as he knew defeating so many shinobis , even if only Genins without any of them noticing including the jonin in the tent is a very difficult task .
So this person in front of him must be a powerful person at least in high chunin strength level .
" Who are you answer me ? Don't you dare ignore me . " - but despite the chunin's furious charge of questions Yuta didn't answer and instead he quickly charged at his opponent in a dashing speed with his Katana at a blinding speed .
' OH No ! he is fast . ' - thought the Iwagakure chunin as he took out his kunai to stop the incoming attack .
However the moment his kunai meet Yuta's sword strike something unexpected happened .
" Ting !! Crack ! Crack ! Snap !! " - with a clean and perfect swing Yuta's sword made contact with the kunai and in one motion cut the kunai in two .
" Impossible ! " - exclaimed the now shocked chunin .
However he didn't get the time to understand what just happened as sensing the danger was now coming towards him the chunin jumped back to make distance .
However Yuta was faster .
The moment the Iwagakure chunin landed he didn't get the time to recover as Yuta was already near him and struck with his katana that pierced right through him .
" No !!! it can't be I wanted to ... I wanted to ... " - whatever his last sentences were he couldn't finish it as Yuta gave another strike which sealed his fate .
As the chunin fell to the ground Yuta had no time to relax however as he quickly jumped back as a earth style ninjutsu hit the area almost instantly .
After the dust settled Yuta looked up and saw a person in Iwagakure shinobi outfit coming to view however unlike the chunin before this person was wearing a different dress marking .
He was clearly the jonin of the camp .
" Well well well ! Look who we have here a mysterious shinobi in Fox mask . How eye-catching wouldn't you agree my friend . "
" And it seems you already dealt with one of my subordinate and a lot of genins in the area . Good job to you they were annoying anyways . " - said the Iwagakure jonin with a evil smile showing no remorse even at the loss of so many of his own comrades .
Yuta on the other hand didn't pay attention to his non sense as he was constantly on alert searching for the other two chunins .
" Oh don't worry about those two I sent them to call for rest of my men . So there's no one to disturb us and we can have a 1 to 1 fight . " - the Iwagakure jonin as if understanding what his opponent was thinking said with a smirk .
" You know since I came here I faced and defeated many opponents from konoha including two other Jonins and yet none of them could defeat me . To be honest I was getting bored . " - he continued to say as if he didn't treat Yuta seriously at all .
But the next moment he suddenly used the body flicker technique and came infront of Yuta and struck with his kunai .
However Yuta who was already prepared quickly dodged the attack and made a counter strike with his Katana .
The Iwagakure jonin expected this counter and quickly dodged .
However at the end still suffered a light injury .
" Well aren't you a strong one let's see how good your swordsmanship is " - with that he charged forward .
After this the Iwagakure jonin continued to throw kunais and engage Yuta in close range combat which was his own speciality .
However he soon found it was a mistake as his opponent outperformed him in every aspect .
He couldn't catch his opponent nor could he strike him instead he was being pushed back with suffering injuries after injuries .
' Ahhh ! This guy he is strong . ' - the Iwa jonin thought to himself .
Right now his entire attitude had changed no longer looking as carefree he was before .
Not only that seeing himself failing to defeat his opponent made him more and more frustrated as he knew itlf this fight dragged on he would be in trouble .
The reason why he sent his two remaining chunin subordinates away was because he wanted to deal with this intruder himself so that he could take full praise for it .
And a the same time he also didn't like the other two chunins who constantly opposed his decisions so in this way he could even say that those two directly refused to fight and fled the battlefield giving him the perfect excuse to remove them from their positions .
However if he couldn't defeat his opponent fast and rest of the Iwagakure shinobis in the region arrives not only would he lose his chance to get sole recognition for defeating the opponent but also many would question his strength .
" Earth Style : Great Mud River .." - without waiting for a single second he quickly created hand seals and released his earth style jutsu attempting to destabilize his enemies footwork and stop his fast movements .
However Yuta quickly moved from from the area each time dodging his jutsu with ease .
" So you want to play like that huh ! come on let's see what you can do against this . " - seeing nothing working against his fast and nimble enemy the Iwagakure jonin decided to use his strongest jutsu to end the fight .
Quickly he started to form hand seals again but before he could finish his last hand seal somthing stoped him in his track .
" DO NOT MOVE !!! "
A sudden voice which was heavy came to his ears and he suddenly felt as if his body was not his own anymore .
His body stopped moving as he couldn't finish his last hand seal no matter what he tried .
' What in the world of us this ? Is this genjutsu ? ' - the Iwagakure jonin thought frantically in his head as he tried to get out of the situation and make his body move .
This was obviously Yuta's cursed speech technique that he copied from Toge Inumaki .
( Author's Note : Hello guys I hope you all are doing well so before continuing I want to clarify here that in this version Yuta doesn't have Rika with him and his power is not even at 50 percent since the main character summoned Yuta here in this Naruto world . )
" You talk too much . " - with that Yuta gave a final blow with his sword which went right through the enemy jonin .
" No ! You cheated you coward . " - the Iwagakure jonin shouted his eyes full of anger and desperation as he fell to the ground unwilling to end like this .
However it was all he could do before his eyes saw nothing but darkness .
Yuta on the other side didn't even wait to hear his last shout and went towards the main tent of the camp as he was now short on time and needed to complete his mission before enemy reinforcements could come .
After entering the commanding camp of the jonin , Yuta quickly went through various treasures and information scrolls and even found a map showing various supply routes of the Iwagakure forces .
However these things were off little importance to him .
Suddenly his attention was attracted towards a small box at the corner of the room that was kept with some other large and small boxes .
He quickly grabbed the box and opened it and found a beautiful blue crystal with the size of a palm .
" So this is the crystal master was looking for . " - he quickly put the box with the crystal in his storage scroll completing his mission .
Afterwards seeing that he had a few more minutes to spare he quickly started grabbing the rest of the things in the room , afterall while not his primary target these too were valuables that may become useful for his master .
" Quick we need to reach the main tent fast . "
Suddenly he heard footsteps and voices coming towards the camp and he knew that time was ending .
So he decided to leave the area quickly especially now that his mission was accomplished .
Just four minutes after Yuta left a group of Iwa genins and four chunins came into the main tent .
" No one's here . It seems we were too late . "
" Goodness look at this place whoever this intruder he took almost everything . "
" This isn't good we need to find this person . "
" Then stop wasting time and look around who ever this person is couldn't have gone too far . "
" Yes sir !!! "
With that a frantic chase was started to find the intruder however despite all their search they couldn't find anything and only came up with the losses they suffered in this incident .
The only thing they learned from few of the remaining genins was that the person who attacked them was wearing a fox mask leading to many in the Iwagakure Camp to believe it was Konohagakure's anbu however no other similarities were found ultimately creating more confusion .
Soon the news also reached the Konohagakure camp who too were obviously confused as they knew more than anyone else that they were not behind it .
Unless it was a classified mission under the order of the Hokage that they were not told about .
However more importantly they had got an a opportunity which allowed them to manage a offensive on the next day taking advantage of the losses suffered by the Iwagakure forces especially the lose of their Jonin comander .
At the end of the day both forces only had speculations in their hand with neither knowing who was responsible for the incident .
Both villages after learning of this incident ordered separate investigations on the matter however this would not reach any conclusion as the ever changing tides of the battlefield brought new concerns on the table which eventually overshadowed this incident .
And as for the person who was responsible for such a upheaval Okkotsu Yuta he had already left the area and now was far away heading towards the land of Rivers to meet his master not caring about about the after effects as it was non of his concern .
What did matter to him was to reach and diliver the blue crystal to his master as soon as possible .
