"UUUUWWOOOOO!" the beast roared with a steaming hot breath coming from it's face hole.
We all moved into action at this as even an idiot could tell that we had to fight this thing. Roland tossed out his turret, Mordy and Bloodwing fell back to harass and take care of the Rakk, Lil, Brick and I moved towards the beast however. I unloaded my gun on it's hide but besides a small burst of blood and some minor frost buildup on the wounds the beast was seemingly unaffected.-
I wasn't surprised because the size of this beast and the standard durability of Pandora's fauna meant this thing was more or less a living tank. There was a reason nearly nothing on this dirtball was recorded as hunting Rakk hives, they were too damned strong for it in most cases. It also didn't help that the Rakk for which it was named were fiercely territorial and protective of their "home". Despite this however I wasn't worried about killing the thing as while it had put all it's points into durability it had neglected offence almost entirely. The species only real form of attack was lifting their bulk up onto their back legs and smashing their target with their front legs and full weight.-
Mordy and Bloodwing took care of the Rakk while Roland, his turret, Lil, Brick and I lit the beast the fuck up with bullets until not even it's durability could handle it anymore and it fell. Even then it wasn't dead, merely weak and heavily injured. I wasted no time at all walking up to it's head and unloading my gun at point blank range into it's skull, killing it.

"This thing has a few nice traits. Superior vitality, Omega body, Supreme Armored hide and Hard bones specifically. Anyone want any of this, besides you Brick." I said amused as Bricks face lit up before falling into a pout when he was singled out.
"That vitality trait would be good for Blood." Mordy said and nobody tried to argue for it so I nodded.
"Brick should get the armored hide and bones traits since he relies on his body the most. I'll take that omega body though." Roland said seriously.
I clapped my hands together with that settled and began to draw out the traits and the lifeforce from the corpse. All in all it cost me 35,077 lifeforce to get everything even after using the lifeforce from the corpse to offset some of the cost which stung a bit. Still the beam of orange light rising of of the pile of dust certainly made my mood improve drastically as I knew exactly what that meant, legendary.-

"DIBS!" Lil shouted before any of us could make a move on the thing.
I chuckled at that as I would have given it to her anyways since it fit her the best out of all of us. Her preferred weapon type was SMG's since it was a comfortable middle ground between assault rifle and pistol and she did a lot of running due to how she used her powers.-
Those two points seem unrelated but they very much fucking were. Unlike me she was not nearly superhuman and thus actually had to worry about the weight of the weapon she carried as she used her powers. SMG's were as a result just right for her as they weren't too heavy and still had a decent level of damage to them. Anyways with that done we headed for the alcove off to the side of this area that our maps told us held our prize. It was pretty obvious that it was the stash hole for someone at some point before the Rakk hive and Rakk moved in and likely killed them.-
Scattered about the shallow alcove were ruined dollar notes and blood with a single dull grey chest on top of the oddly decorative giant bone claws holding up an area of stone. There was a steaming pile of human skulls and slimy red stuff behind the chest on this "platform" that we chose to ignore as we opened the chest and collected our prize. There was also forty thousand dollars in the chest with the piece of the vault key but I ignored that in favor of looking over the Eridian tech.-
'This should be the last piece, lets see if Tannis has chosen a side yet.' I thought as I put the thing away.
Surprisingly there was no sudden echo even as we left the alcove and took the fast travel to the underpass outside Tannis's dig site. The spider ants were back so we cleared them out before heading to Tannis. She was looking over a spreadsheet of data when we arrived but she didn't react to our presence beyond sparing us a look and holding out her hand for the vault key piece.-
"This is the last piece of the key you have presented to me. All that's left is to find the vault and open it up. On that note a bandit by the name of Baron Flint is rumored to hold a map detailing the location of the vault. You'll find him on the Salt Flats where he and his tribe of savages live in and around an abandoned Dahl excavator. Get that map for me and we can finally open the vault and collect the treasures within." She said with an excited expression.
I couldn't say for sure that she was lying or not since her plan had merit. A common mistake that somehow got spread around is that the keys to the vaults showed you where said vault was located. This was blatantly fucking wrong. The keys were just that, keys. They opened the lock sure but in no way shape or form did they tell you where the damned things were. If someone had already found the vault but lacked the key such as this Flint character it wasn't hard to imagine they'd make a map so they could come back once they got the key.-
We left shortly after that for the Salt Flats that Flint was occupying apparently. The entrance to the Salt Flats was manned by the Claptrap we had freed from Old Haven awhile ago who thanked us again before letting us through. Like fucking everywhere on Pandora apparently the Salt Flats were a large open area of sand and rock but very little trash so a big step up from New Haven and it's surroundings.-
An interesting fact about the Salt Flats was that before Dahl showed up and started strip mining the area it was a beautiful place with a glossy mirror-like surface from the salt having formed into various reflective discs all over the ground. After Dahl ran the area over with their heavy equipment this beauty was destroyed and reduced to naught but sand with a high salt content. When we arrived Flint actually sent us a message that was flat out arrogant in nature.-
"You've come! Excellent! I've been looking forward to this. My men are... impatient. But I shall savor this until your blood has soaked the sand and your carcass is nothing but food for Rakk! Come get some." he said and we all got a good laugh out of it.
