~ With Aiden ~
"Wow, Aceu is really bringing his A-game today."
"I've watched him play before, and he is an actual beast mechanically in FPS games! This strategy is so spot on!"
"They're lucky to have Ace on their side. On the other hand, the reaper has come for the Germans."
The livestream chat was filled with praises for Aceu and the team. Aiden glanced at Aceu, noticing an almost maniacal and battle-hungry look on his face.
"Alright everyone, stay focused. Aside from the earlier order, the rest of us will be splitting into two main groups. Shroud, lead one of the groups to attack from the far side of the rear, while Aceu and I will take the other end.
On the scout's signal, once the flares have been released and while the German soldiers are distracted, we will blitz the stronghold. Got it?"
"No problem!" Shroud replied, maintaining his map awareness by scanning their surroundings periodically.
This special operation, involving a team of more than 20 players infiltrating deep into enemy territory, had its own unique tension. Even without encountering enemies or firing a single shot, the game's realistic graphics and environment atmosphere created an immersive experience, causing the players to feel as if they were truly there in the war.
Their luck seemed to have gotten worse as it suddenly rained heavily, enhancing the already tense atmosphere. The built-in weather system was added in by Alex to improve the immersion, with different maps having different and unique weather conditions, such as sandstorms in the desert. Fortunately, the heavy rain provided natural cover, muffling their movements and obscuring their figure from enemy vision even further.
As the two groups split up, they noticed that the stronghold they were targeting was not overly complex. The back entrance was only guarded by a machine gun nest, with most of the heavy weaponries place at the front of the stronghold and facing the direction of the incoming Allied troops. Moreover, trees and large rocks were placed naturally around the stronghold, providing additional cover for the group.
"Captain, we have eyes on the enemy teams. It looks like there are at least three teams here." A scout reported, pinging the enemy locations on the map.
Thinking that it was finally time, Aiden spoke into the radio, "Scouts have made visual contact. Check your weapons and find cover, prepare to engage on their signal."
It seemed that a few of the German soldiers also had the same idea, choosing to use this stronghold as a gathering place to launch an offensive counterattack. Judging by the strategic location of the stronghold and the numbers, it was clear that a confrontation was imminent, so striking first was crucial.
Meanwhile, Shroud's group, who had split up from Aiden earlier, had already reached their designated location, ready to divert the attention of the German soldiers into three. If they could get into the stronghold quick, then capturing it with their numbers would be a simple task.
After a few tense moments, the signal flares were employed by the scouts, followed by a series of gunshots from the front of the stronghold. The flares had marked the enemy location, illuminating those who were in range.
"ATTACK!" Aiden commanded as he and a few others threw grenades at the marked locations. Normal grenades and anti-tank grenades exploded, shattering stone and splintering trees, exposing the figures of the German soldiers further.
"Fire! Fire!" He shouted again, already firing his M1918. The first enemy soldier in sight went down in a hail of bullets, but the rest of his shorts went wide. The iron sights of the gun made aiming challenging, and the recoil was hard to control. Thankfully, his teammates picked up the slack, finishing off the exposed enemies.
They had successfully taken out the patrolling troops by surprise, but Aiden knew that this was just the beginning of the encounter.
