As soon as Karsas left, the others flooded into Zach's room, filling it to the brim. Yanael, Alzara, Soara, Mandra, and Vidri. Rienne, Yan, Lahso, Anerias, and Vera. Fortunately, Anerias' familiars stayed outside.
"Are you alright?!" Rienne asked, her voice shrill with worry and guilt. She had caused this. If it hadn't been for her setting up the challenge, Zach wouldn't have gotten this hurt.
"I'm fine," Zach answered, sitting up and tearing the bandages off his body. On the surface, he was fine. He didn't have any broken bones, and he wasn't bleeding. There was still some swelling left on his face, and the area around his eyes was still miscolored.
But he was physically fine.
Karsas hadn't wanted to cripple the guy he wanted to become his Apostle, so he went easy on Zach.
Most of Zach's remaining injuries were the ones he caused himself by overusing world essence energy with a body that still had a long way to go to endure the energy of the world. But that was just half of it.
