(Everyone, wait here, I'll go scout,) said Dean, taking off.
(Dean! You don't need to go alone!) yelled Leah privately, ready to follow.
(Stop! I'm the fastest and strongest, and I've only gotten stronger. If anyone is going to go scout and make it back unscathed, it's me. I'll be back before you know it,) said Dean privately.
Leah unhappily plopped her hind legs down and waited.
However, he didn't have to go far; the vamps were already on the move.
Sprinting back, he took position at the front. (They're coming.)
The vampires that stepped out of the woods more than quadrupled their numbers.
(Eh, not so bad, at least four for each of us,) Embry joked somberly.
(Wait, what's that?) asked a wolf, spotting something unusual amongst the vampires.
The vampires stopped a distance away, eyeing their wolven adversaries with much interest, minus one with a burning glare of absolute loathing.
The leader of the vampires stepped forward with a grin, "Bring him forward, I'm sure he's eager to meet his old friends."
Demetri and Santiago dragged Jake to the front, forcing him to kneel beside Aro.
(Jake!) cried Embry, eager to run to his friend's rescue but cut off by Quil.
(Embry! Stop!) Quil growled, pushing him back.
(That's Jake, Quil! He needs our help!) Embry growled back, attempting to get by him but getting bit for his trouble as Quil did everything he could to prevent him from escaping.
(Enough!) shouted Dean angrily, (You will cease this at once Embry! We don't save traitors.)
(Traitor?) Embry's eyes widened as the situation became clear to all, (How can you say that?) he asked in disbelief. Refusing to believe it, he looked towards Quil for support and found his ears put back in sorrowful acceptance at Dean's words.
(You can't be serious; they've clearly caught him. Jake would never betray us,) Embry denied.
(Wake up! This is the Volturi we're talking about. They live in Italy, and Jake knows that. Why else would he be with them,) growled Paul.
(You don't know that!) Embry yelled.
(What did I just fucking say! All of you shut the fuck up now! I don't want to hear anything else unless it's vitally important. We're not here to debate, we're here to fight for our fucking lives!) Shouted Dean.
.
"What fun, look how much chaos you cause already," Aro chuckled to Jake, who looked down in shame.
"Sir," said Demetri.
"Speak," said Aro, slightly annoyed at his interruption.
"He's here," said Demetri seriously.
Aro looked over with a raised eyebrow, "Is he now?"
Demetri gave a confirmatory nod.
"Likely not alone either, hmm, gather the gifted that can't help us with the wolves and a few others and take care of it," said Aro.
"Understood," Demetri bowed, moving to the twins.
Aro then looked down at Jake with a grin, "Twice as many wolves as you thought, it seems I was right to come and wipe your tribe out, however, I don't see the black one anywhere, I wonder where he could be?" he asked amusedly.
.
Hearing this, Dean ignored Embry's distress and called out to the ambush team, (Sam, did you hear? Fall back, they know.)
(I hear, falling back,) Sam replied crestfallen.
(Hold on, what's that?) questioned Sam, (Shit Run!)
(Sam? What's going on?) asked Dean.
(Another group of vampires...) said Sam, sending a round of despair shooting through everyone, (...A tall red-headed Irish woman said if we don't attack them, they won't attack us, they're here for the Volturi. I'm heading back now.)
(Redhead,) growled Leah.
Dean snorted, (Listen up, I don't know who these vampires are, but the best we can do is not go out of our way to target them, prioritize the Volturi in front of us, but don't lower your guard for any vampire. We'll think of what to do with this new group after, Is that clear?!)
(Clear!) came a unified response.
(Is that wise?) asked Leah privately.
(Well, if this other group is with them, we're doomed anyway,) answered Dean privately.
.
"Ah, here's the black one and three others, I assume this is everyone then?" Aro asked rhetorically, observing the new wolves with great interest.
"Get on with it Aro," said Caius impatiently.
Aro sighed at him, "I suppose you're right," turning his attention back to the wolves, "You all know why we're here," he said casually as if it was just another day, giving Santiago the signal.
Santiago raised his hand in an overhead chop and swung, severing Jake's head and then stomped on it, finishing him for good.
(JAKE!) cried Embry rushing past Quil before he could stop him.
(ATTACK!) yelled Dean, and they all charged.
...
"Hear that? Sounds like they started," said Benjamin.
"Stay focused, the Volturi likely know we're here," said Amun.
"At least those wolves look strong enough, more imposing than a werewolf at any rate," said Siobhan.
"Oh, since when did you see a werewolf?" asked Vladmiri, intrigued by this tall redheaded Irish vixen.
"Not now Vlad, they'll be upon us soon, get ready," said Stefan.
"I hear them coming, prepare yourselves," said Amun.
The Romanians, sharing a look, slowed their pace, allowing their group to pass by them, taking to the trees with none the wiser.
"You shouldn't have come here Amun," said Demetri, showing up with a sizable group behind him.
"Demetri, I may have failed you, but I'll see to it no one else becomes a victim of the Volturi. It ends today!" said Amun resolutely.
"We'll see about that," Demetri sneered, "Alec!" he called out to the male twin, who stepped forward with hands covered in a shimmering, hazy mist that slowly moved towards their foes.
"Avoid the mist if you can, don't let it touch you!" yelled Amun, surprised to find the twins amongst them, his eyes darting rapidly around for any sign of Aro before falling to the ground wracked in agony.
"Amun!" cried Kebi, rushing to his side.
"Execute!" Demetri ordered, sending his forces to finish the vampires that fell to the mist, cut off from all their senses.
Benjamin rushed forward in front of Amun, shooting flames from his hands, keeping the advancing opposition back and burning a couple alive that were wounded by an ally who unfortunately fell along with them, much to his dismay, prioritizing Amun's safety.
The sight and sounds of their dying cries nearly brought Jane out of her concentration on Amun as her eyes shifted menacingly to this new threat, but as she was about to switch targets with her gift, a wall sprang up between them, blocking her view.
"Wa...all," Amun managed to say through the pain. Benjamin hit the ground, creating a shield wall of rock that sprang up out of the ground in front of them, temporarily protecting them from the twin's attack, as the mist continued to work its way around.
Recovered, Amun got back on his feet, putting an arm on Ben for support, and addressed him, "Something wrong, the twins shouldn't be here without Aro, but this gives us a chance to strike a blow to the Volturi like never before. Did you see them? The twins. They are the Volturi's most dangerous weapon. When you get the chance, you must take them out."
"I will," promised Ben.
"Good lad," said Amun, giving his shoulder an affirming squeeze. You go that way, and I'll go this way. We must split their focus, or we won't last. Good luck," he said, taking off to the right with Kebi.
Ben turned to his mate Tia, "It's time, stay safe," he said, taking off to the left to join the fight.
On the other hand, despite his thoughts about their silent agreement, Tia didn't intend to stay behind. She followed shortly after to keep him safe, whether he liked it or not.
