Chapter 5 - Grandpa Jackson

On the school rooftop, Wesley and Billy didn't say a word, quietly listening to Teacher Charles say a lot.

"Teacher Charles, you're right. Fatty and I were disobedient before and caused you so much worry."

Wesley felt a pang of guilt. Thinking about those Beast Masters who shed their blood, sacrificed their lives, and fought with demonic beasts, everyone only had one life, yet they unhesitatingly guarded Eagle Federation with their lives. They were truly respectable and admirable!

"Yes, Teacher Charles, we shouldn't have called you Hell King Charles, nor should we have said you were going through menopause!"

As soon as Billy spoke, the atmosphere instantly changed.

"Billy, oh Billy, you are truly brave!"

Seeing the change in their expressions, Teacher Charles knew that his words today had taken effect. As for how they would walk their future path, that was up to them.

"Alright, Wesley, I hope that in tomorrow's Beast Taming Space awakening test, you will be able to awaken your Beast Taming Space and become a Beast Master!"

"Student Billy, you too. Don't spend all day thinking about useless things. Prepare well, and don't let your family down."

The two of them, Wesley and Billy, nodded heavily at Teacher Charles, their faces once again filled with confidence.

"Mm, you two can go. I'll let you off this once. If this happens again, I won't go easy on you. After all, I am Hell King Charles, right?"

Teacher Charles waved his hand, signaling that they could leave.

"Teacher Charles, aren't you coming down?" Wesley asked.

"Yeah, Teacher Charles, the wind is strong on the rooftop, it's easy to catch a cold!" Billy chimed in.

"Are your bodies itching for a beating? I can help cure that itch. How about a 1v2? I'll even fight with one hand tied behind my back."

Teacher Charles's lips twitched as he walked toward them.

Strong wind on the rooftop? Catching a cold?

Would I, Teacher Charles, a Six-Star Beastmaster, catch a cold?

"Teacher Charles, don't, don't, don't! We're leaving right now, please calm down."

Seeing Hell King Charles walking over, Wesley immediately turned and ran. Let alone fighting with one hand, a single leg hair of his could probably knock them both flat.

"Dog Wesley, don't run!"

Billy shouted and chased after Wesley.

Watching their retreating figures as they fled in panic, Teacher Charles withdrew his majestic aura, a faint smile appearing on his face.

"Those two jokers. I really hope you can succeed tomorrow."

Teacher Charles stood on the rooftop for a long time, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon. By the time he left, many cigarette butts were scattered on the ground where he had stood.

At the school gate, Wesley and Billy walked toward a noodle shop across the street.

The noodle shop was doing a roaring business, with most of its customers being students from the school. An elderly couple ran the shop.

"Beautiful underclasswomen, is anyone sitting here? Do you mind if we share the table?"

Billy struck what he thought was a handsome pose, looking at the two freshman girls sitting in front of him.

Especially the girl sitting on the right, who had her hair in a bun and possessed very cute, blinking large eyes.

Before the two girls could answer, Wesley pushed aside Billy, who was still posing, and sat down.

"Hello, underclasswomen, I'm Billy. This guy is sick in the head, just ignore him!"

Pointing casually at Billy, Wesley gave the two girls a warm, gentle smile.

"Holy crap, Dog Wesley, you're the one who's sick!" Billy made a move to explain, "Junior sisters, I'm the real Billy, he's not!"

"Ah! You're Billy, the 'peeping demon' and 'young girls' nightmare' they talk about in school!"

The chubby girl on the left looked shocked, her words leaving them utterly speechless.

"And you must be Wesley, the school beauty Diana's fiancé, the 'talent' who still hasn't awakened his Beast Taming Space."

"Uh!" Wesley looked thoroughly embarrassed.

"Junior, what 'peeping demon' or 'young girls' nightmare'? That's pure slander, you can't believe it!"

Lines of black appeared on Billy's face as his brain completely crashed.

"Jenny, let's go. These two aren't good people. They must be plotting something against us."

The chubby girl pulled her companion along and quickly changed tables.

The girl named Jenny took a deep look at Wesley before leaving, murmuring in her heart, "The school beauty's fiancé is so handsome, but it's such a pity he hasn't awakened a Beast Taming Space."

"Brother Wesley, how can we tolerate this? Someone must be spreading rumors in school to blacken our names."

Seeing the other students in the shop looking at them with strange eyes, Billy felt extremely uncomfortable.

"Fat Dog, an upright man, fears no crooked shadow. Let's eat first. Besides, their mouths belong to them; can you stop them from talking crap?"

Hearing Wesley's words, the students eating noodles around them instantly felt their food lose its flavor. They didn't know whether to keep eating or stop.

"Haha, Brother Wesley, you really have a way with words. Thumbs up to you."

Billy gave him a thumbs-up and laughed out loud, seeing the disgusted expressions on the faces of the people around them, as if they had just swallowed a fly.

"Old Will, a large bowl of beef noodles! The usual, no cilantro!" Wesley called out, raising his head.

"Old Will, I want two bowls! Extra scallions, ginger, and garlic, my favorites!" Billy added immediately.

"Alright! You two little rascals, showing no respect for your elders."

From the kitchen, an old man poked his head out. Seeing that it was these two again, he glared at them with mock anger.

"That Old Will, still glaring at us. How petty!"

Billy crossed his legs, his middle finger twitching out of habit.

"Fatty, stay away from me, that's disgusting!"

Seeing this familiar behavior, Wesley immediately distanced himself from Billy.

Before long, the elderly woman in the shop brought over the freshly made beef noodles and placed them on Wesley and Billy's table.

"Thank you, Grandma Lily!"

Wesley and Billy spoke in unison, greeting her with smiles.

"Mhm, eat up, you two. I added some extra beef to both of your bowls."

Grandma Lily looked at them kindly, genuinely liking these two boys from the bottom of her heart.

"Mmh, delicious! Grandma Lily is still the best to us."

Wesley took large bites of his beef noodles.

Billy also dug in with full force. With delicious food in front of him, eating took absolute priority.

Ten minutes later, the other students in the noodle shop had finished and left one after another, leaving only Wesley and Billy.

"That was so satisfying. Fatty, go pay the bill."

"Don't rush me, I haven't finished my soup yet."

Billy glanced at Wesley, picked up his bowl, and began to drink.

"You two rascals, finished eating?"

Old Man Will walked up to them and gave each of them a flick on the forehead.

"Showing no respect. Back when your fathers were in school and ate here, they had to call me Uncle Will."

"Ouch! Old Man Will, you're doing this on purpose out of spite!"

Rubbing his head, Wesley looked pitifully at Grandma Lily, who was clearing the dishes.

"Grandma Lily, look at him! You have to get justice for us!"

Grandma Lily didn't say anything, only chuckling merrily.

"Still complaining, are we?" Old Man Will made a motion to flick him again.

"No, no, Grandpa Will!" Wesley dodged and ran to Grandma Lily's side.

"Grandma Lily, let me help you clear the table."

"Good boy!" Grandma Lily patted Wesley's head.

Billy also wanted to run, but he wasn't fast enough and got flicked on the forehead again by Old Man Will.

"This is unfair! Why do I have to take an extra hit?"

"True!" Old Man Will stroked his beard. "Then, in the interest of fairness, how about I reward you with another one, little Fatty?"

Billy was dumbfounded. Was he stupid or had he misheard? This old man's sense of "fairness" was truly something else.

Finally, after Billy paid the bill, the two of them walked home in a swaggering, arrogant gait to prepare for tomorrow's awakening test.

The Wayne Family was the number one Beast Taming family in Aquilopolis City. In addition, there were three other major Beast Taming families: the Kent Family, the Paul Family, and the Danver Family.

As soon as Wesley returned home, he went to see his grandfather, the current head of the Wayne Family, Jackson.

Jackson's strength was that of a Seven-Star Beast Master, serving as the pillar of the Wayne Family.

When Wesley met his grandfather, Jackson was sitting in a pavilion with an elderly man, chatting and laughing while playing a game of chess.

Wesley also recognized this elderly man. His strength was the same as his grandfather's, both being Seven-Star Beast Masters, President of the Beast Taming Guild.

"Grandfather, hello Grandpa Leo!"

After greeting them with a smile, Wesley stood quietly to the side and watched the two elders play chess without disturbing them.

Half an hour later, Jackson placed a chess piece with his right hand and said with a laugh, "Haha, Old Leo, I've won this game again. You're completely powerless to turn this around."

"Pfft, Old Jackson, if I hadn't let you win on purpose, could you have won?"

President of the Beast Taming Guild stood up, huffing and puffing with wide eyes.

"Sigh, Old Leo, don't be a sore loser. You need to change that fiery temper of yours; it really flares up at the slightest touch."

"How about another game? Old Leo, I'll let you take three moves first."

"No, no! I'll play you another day and turn the board upside down. I refuse to believe I can't beat you."

The President of the Beast Taming Guild flicked his sleeve, then looked at Wesley, smiling as he continued, "Little Wesley, you saw that, right? Don't grow up to be as sly as an old fox like your grandfather."

"Hey, you Blockhead Leo, he's my grandson! Who are you to lecture him?" Jackson pointed a finger at him.

"What, am I wrong? I'm just afraid Little Wesley will be corrupted by you!"

"Bullshit! Your granddaughter is the one who was corrupted by you. A perfectly good girl, yet she's trained herself to be covered in bulky muscles!"

Wesley, long accustomed to the bickering of the two elders, stepped in to smooth things over.
