Chapter 3 - I Still Marry You

Teacher Charles carried Billy like a little chick and walked toward the dean's office.

"Brother Wesley, you have to come save me! Good brothers forever!"

"Teacher Charles, let's talk this out. Can you put me down so I can walk on my own? I'm full of virtues, but my only weakness is a fear of heights!"

Billy had a bitter look on his face, muttering non-stop.

"Shut up!"

Teacher Charles slapped Billy's bouncy butt cheeks.

The sound stopped abruptly, and the world suddenly fell silent!

Wesley didn't respond to Billy's words. Just as he was about to step forward to speak to Diana, he was blocked by the two people standing beside her.

"Wesley, how do you still have the face to look for Diana? A trash who can't even awaken a Beast Taming Space in his body, don't you find it embarrassing?"

The tall, thin boy sneered as he looked down at Wesley, his tone filled with contempt and arrogance.

"Exactly. A piece of trash like him doesn't deserve School Beauty Diana at all. Someone like her deserves far better. If I were you, I'd break off the engagement immediately instead of dragging her down and making her a laughingstock too."

The other burly boy also had a look of disgust on his face.

"Enough."

A cold voice suddenly interrupted them.

Diana, who had been standing behind the two boys, stepped forward slightly and frowned.

"I didn't ask either of you to speak for me," she said calmly. "This is between Wesley and me."

The two boys were startled and immediately fell silent, though unwillingness could still be seen in their eyes.

Wesley looked at Diana quietly.

Ever since Diana awakened a blue Beast Taming Space, Wesley, as her fiancé, had failed to awaken a Beast Taming Space in both tests, becoming the laughingstock of the entire school.

However, as a member of the Wayne Family, most of his classmates didn't dare to offend him openly. Though they didn't dare say anything to his face, people mocking him in secret were everywhere.

Thus, Wesley had heard plenty of these cold, mocking words. On the surface, he pretended to be carefree and unaffected, but deep down, he constantly wished he could awaken a Beast Taming Space and slap these people hard across the face.

Even then, Diana had never completely lost hope in him.

"Diana, look at him. What part of him is worthy of you? I was only trying to help you vent your anger."

Diana frowned deeply. "Logan, please don't call me Diana. We are not that close."

"Wesley, come with me!"

Before she even finished speaking, Diana turned and walked toward the nearest classroom.

The other students in the Beast Taming Class looked at Wesley with mocking eyes, waiting eagerly to watch the drama unfold.

"Logan, Carl, good dogs don't block the way! What does talking to my fiancée have to do with you two? Are you just too bored, or do you enjoy being someone else's lackeys?"

A wicked smirk appeared on Wesley's handsome face as he crossed his arms and looked at the two clowns before him.

"Wesley, who are you calling a dog?! Are you looking to die?!"

Logan's expression turned fierce as he cracked his wrists and strode toward Wesley.

"What's this, Logan? As a member of the Paul Family, you want to fight over a woman at school? If word of this gets out, it'll disgrace the entire Paul Family."

"Look at how smart Carl is. He only uses his mouth. Only an idiot rushes to use his fists!"

Wesley walked toward Diana while glancing mockingly at Logan.

"Screw you, Wesley! If you weren't from the Wayne Family, I would've beaten you up already!" Carl's face twitched in anger.

"Even if I wasn't from the Wayne Family, you still couldn't do anything to me. You're just like dog poop, always sticking close to Dog Logan."

"See that, Logan? The school beauty doesn't appreciate your gesture at all. And as for what part of me... every part of me is bigger than yours."

As Wesley passed by Logan, he looked smug, feeling incredibly satisfied in his heart, 'Simps never end up well!'

"Wesley, just you wait!"

"Let's see if you still have the face to be so arrogant when you fail to awaken a Beast Taming Space tomorrow!"

Logan glared at Wesley's retreating back, gritting his teeth, wishing he could kill him with his own hands.

"Brother Carl, don't let this trash ruin your mood. We both awakened high-grade talent Beast Taming Spaces. Even if Wesley manages to awaken one tomorrow, it'll only be of low-to-mid grade talent. Honestly, he probably won't even awaken one. He's not from our world."

Carl walked up to Logan with a fawning expression.

"Carl, you're right. Diana can only be mine. Only I am worthy of her."

It was no wonder they thought so. Out of the three chances to awaken a Beast Taming Space, those with good talent would succeed on the first try. The later the attempt, the lower the probability of awakening, and the worse the talent would be.

Inside the classroom, Diana stood quietly by the window, her back facing Wesley as she looked out at the clear blue sky.

A trace of worry lingered in her beautiful eyes.

Ever since Wesley failed to awaken his Beast Taming Space twice in a row, the ridicule surrounding him had only grown harsher. At first, Diana thought he would recover quickly with his usual confidence and determination.

But instead, she noticed him becoming quieter and more distant.

That was what truly worried her.

She never cared about the gossip spreading throughout the school. Nor did she care that others mocked her for staying by Wesley's side. To her, the Wesley she knew had never been useless.

No one understood better than Diana how hard Wesley had worked behind the scenes.

She had secretly searched through books, asked teachers for advice, and even tried finding special treasures rumored to increase the chances of awakening a Beast Taming Space. Even now, she still refused to believe Wesley truly lacked talent.

Diana clenched her fingers lightly.

She couldn't remember when she had started worrying about him this much. Perhaps it was because they had grown up together since childhood.

The Wayne and Danver Families had arranged their marriage when they were still young. From childhood to now, Wesley had always protected her.

Back then, Diana loved following behind Wesley everywhere they went. Whether they were playing around the neighborhood or sneaking snacks from home, the two of them were always together.

Whenever other children bullied her, Wesley would stand in front of her without hesitation. He would even drag Billy along and fight those children just to protect her.

"Brother Wesley, when I grow up, I'm going to marry you!"

"Alright, Chubby Diana, I'll marry you too!"

"What about me?" the chubby Billy joked.

"Haha, when you grow up, you can be my son!"

To Diana, Wesley had always been someone reliable.

That was why she couldn't accept seeing him slowly give up on himself now.

Diana bit her lower lip tightly as she looked at Wesley's calm expression.

That indifferent attitude of his made her even angrier than if he had shouted at her.

"Wesley, can't you take this seriously for once?" Diana asked softly, trying hard to suppress the emotions in her heart. "Do you know how many people are laughing at you outside? They're all waiting to see you fail tomorrow."

Wesley shrugged casually and leaned against the desk beside him.

"They can laugh if they want. It's not like their words can kill me."

"You—"

Diana clenched her fists in frustration.

"What happened to Wesley who never gave up? The Wesley who said he would become the strongest Beast Tamer and protect everyone around him?" Her voice trembled slightly. "Why are you acting like none of this matters anymore?"

For a brief moment, Wesley's smile stiffened.

But it disappeared just as quickly.

"People change," he replied lightly.

"No, they don't!" Diana stepped forward suddenly, her usually calm eyes filled with emotion. "At least not you. I know you better than anyone else."

Wesley avoided her gaze.

Diana took a deep breath before speaking again.

"Do you think I came here just to talk about the engagement?" she asked quietly. "I don't care about those rumors outside. I care about you."

Wesley's fingers twitched slightly.

"After your second failed awakening, I visited the library almost every day. I even asked my teacher privately if there were other methods to awaken a Beast Taming Space." Diana lowered her head slightly. "I've been trying to find a way to help you."

Hearing this, the carefree expression on Wesley's face finally faded a little.

Diana looked straight into his eyes.

"But you're making it harder and harder for me to help you, Wesley. Everyone else may have given up on you…" Her voice softened. "But I haven't."

The classroom suddenly became silent.

Outside the window, the afternoon breeze gently rustled the trees.

After a long moment, Wesley let out a helpless laugh.

"You really are stubborn, Diana."

"And you're an idiot," Diana replied immediately, her eyes turning slightly red. "Can't you see that I'm worried about you?"

Hearing Diana's words, Wesley felt a sharp pain in his chest.

The rumors outside had never truly bothered him.

Whether people mocked him, insulted him, or called him trash for failing to awaken a Beast Taming Space twice, Wesley could endure all of it with a smile.

But what he could not endure… was Diana being dragged down because of him.

Ever since Diana awakened her blue Beast Taming Space, countless people had started whispering behind her back.

They said a genius like Diana should never stay engaged to a failure like Wesley.

They mocked her for wasting her future on him.

Some even claimed that Wesley was shamelessly clinging to Diana to preserve his dignity.

At first, Wesley ignored those rumors.

But gradually, he noticed something else.

Diana was no longer focusing entirely on her training.

Instead of spending all her time cultivating and preparing to contract stronger beasts, she kept searching for ways to help him awaken his Beast Taming Space.

She visited libraries for him.

She secretly consulted teachers for him.

She even argued with others because of him.

And every time Diana looked at him with worried eyes while softly calling him "Brother Wesley," Wesley felt even worse inside.

Because the more she cared about him, the guiltier he felt.

Diana was someone destined to stand at the top as a genius Beast Tamer.

Meanwhile, he was someone who might never even awaken.

Wesley loved Diana deeply.

That was exactly why he kept pushing her away.

He would rather Diana hate him than continue wasting her precious time and future on someone like him.

Wesley lowered his head slightly before speaking in a calm voice.

"Diana, this is the last time I'll call you by that name."

Diana's expression instantly turned pale.

"Wesley…"

"From today onward, let's end the engagement between our families." Wesley forced out a smile. "You already have your own future ahead of you. There's no need to keep worrying about me anymore."

The classroom became completely silent.

Diana stared at him in disbelief.

"So this is why you've been avoiding me recently?" she asked softly.

Wesley remained silent.

Diana suddenly walked straight toward him and grabbed his sleeve tightly.

"Wesley Wayne, look at me."

Her eyes were already slightly red.

"I never cared whether you could awaken a Beast Taming Space or not."

Wesley's fingers trembled slightly.

Diana continued staring directly at him.

"You think I don't know what you're trying to do?" Her voice shook faintly. "You're trying to push me away because of those stupid rumors outside."

"Brother Wesley…" she called softly, just like when they were children. "Since when did I ever care about what others think?"

Wesley's calm expression nearly collapsed.

Diana bit her lip lightly before continuing.

"Yes, I've been helping you instead of focusing completely on training." A faint smile appeared on her face. "Because you are more important to me than training."

"Even if you never awaken a Beast Taming Space in your entire life…"

"I will still only marry you."

At that moment, Wesley completely froze in place.

Diana's grip on his sleeve tightened slightly.

"So stop trying to push me away alone," she whispered. "You're the one hurting me the most right now."
