Jian Nian quickly stepped aside at the door; neither of them spoke a word.
Ye Xi was stunned when she saw Lu Lingxiao.
She got up from the sofa and asked, "Weren't you on a business trip?"
Lu Lingxiao didn't say anything. He approached her, looked at her haggard little face, and asked, "Are you okay?"
Ye Xi looked away from him, unsure of how to face him for a moment.
Jian Nian sensibly went to the kitchen to brew tea for Lu Lingxiao, then returned to her room, closed the door, and gave them ample space.
"I received a call from my older brother and couldn't help but worry..."
Ye Xi's eyes felt warm for a moment, and she avoided his gaze, returning to sit by the sofa.
Lu Lingxiao came before her and said, "You don't have to overthink this matter. I'll find an opportunity to talk to my father."
Only then did Ye Xi truly look at Lu Lingxiao standing in front of her.
"You knew for a long time, didn't you?"
Lu Lingxiao's expression was slightly stunned, then he nodded, "Yes."
