Chapter 264 Concern and Ailments

"I hear guild receptionists have a lot of work. Judging by the paperwork on that table and everywhere else, it looks like he's getting overwhelmed. Poor guy," Aleshia said sympathetically.

"Right? Anyway, thank you for curing me and everyone else. It will really help us get everyone back on track. However, even when they all regain consciousness, I don't think we can go storming another castle," Rebel added with a touch of dark humor.

They quickly finished the snack and engaged in small talk until the conversation shifted to Aleshia's plans after leaving them. After contemplating the question for a while, Aleshia finally spoke up. "I've been thinking about exploring more of this world and, along the way, maybe searching for ways to cure my body. Apparently, it's afflicted by a curse, though I can only explain that much with confidence."

Aleshia revealed Kailey's ailments as if they were her own. Regardless, she felt that the situation had improved since she had first met Kailey, as she hadn't experienced anything similar to what she described. Aleshia began to suspect that having two souls in one body might be alleviating her symptoms.

Rebel looked heartbroken upon hearing about Aleshia's illness. "Oh my, I'm so sorry to hear that. Despite your condition, you've gone out of your way to help us. I'm really grateful to you."

"Thank you for your concern, but you don't need to treat me any differently because of what I've said." Aleshia hadn't anticipated such a strong response, and it only made her feel even guiltier.

Feeling a tad overwhelmed by guilt, Aleshia wanted to escape. As an awkward silence began to fill the room, some of the kids who had been taking notes seemed to sense the strange atmosphere and quietly left. After a while, Daniel entered the room to retrieve Rebel. He thanked Aleshia and took Rebel back so they could work on some paperwork together, also outlining some tasks Aleshia could handle later on. After both of them left, Aleshia was left there in that room feeling guilty.

To distract herself, Aleshia began cleaning up the room. Most of the seats were tucked into their desks, while others were not, so she took the time to push the rest of them in. As she looked over the notes that people had taken, she began to brainstorm ideas for a new feature.

"Lucia, is there a way to record the texts from this device?" Aleshia asked, recalling her time as a teacher in an illustrious academy.

"No, at least I don't think there is a way for now, but I could probably develop one eventually if I keep tinkering with these devices," Lucia replied.
