Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: The Aftermath (283AC)

The North, Frosthold Keep, Lord's Solar

(Aerian's POV)

Recieving a letter from my father about the situation that is unfolding in the south and the results of the subsequent battles that happened, I couldn't help but clench my fist at the news that Sir Galahad had died. Although I knew that death was inevitable it had never crossed my mind that one of the 13 knights would have died given their skillset but clearly I had severely underestimated the knights of the kingsguard.

'My negligence came with consequences that I could've prevented, I got to comfortable believing them invincible in this time period against other warriors and knights'.

Crumpling the letter and throwing it into the fire place, I then turned my attention to the letter from Lancelot about the status of the mission I gave him. Reading the letter, the bad mood I was in eased a bit as he confirmed to get Elia and her children out of Kingslanding safely and back to the main camp where they were cared for.

'Great now I hold some leverage over my future negotiations with Dorne when our trade is ready to begin.' I couldn't help but feel at ease a little knowing that my plans had not failed.

Crumpling that letter and throwing it into the fire with the other, i grabbed my sword and swiftly walked towards the training ground where the men and women who were aiming to become knights of the house were doing their daily spars and drills. Arriving at the training grounds, my gaze swept over all the people within the grounds making sure that everyone was doing what they were supposed to and not slacking off.

'Good they know what they're supposed to do.' I thought before walking forward towards the center of the grounds. "Everyone line up!"

Hearing the command, everyone stopped what they were doing immediately and got into the neat line formation that they were taught the first week that they had started their training here. "I have some grave news from the battlefield, Sir Galahad of the round table was killed in battle by the hands of Sir Barristan Selmy, he died with courage and brought honor to House Aurelius and shall be remembered for as long as this house shall stand!"

The news of Galahads death caused varying expressions throughout the grounds with the new recruits being surprised and stunned that one of the 13 knights who were at the pinnacle of what the world had to offer was killed in battle. On the other hand, the veteran warriors were seen with somber faces as they knew Galahad and had trained, drank and been treated like brothers by the man.

"I know the news is upsetting and we shall mourne the dead when the army returns with their remains. A monument shall be constructed in the middle of the courtyard where all the names of the deceased shall have their names inscribed to be remembered as those who brought honor to this house!" Learning that a monument would be created to honor their fallen comrades and brothers, everyone gave firm nods in agreement and were grateful to be in the service to a house that cared for them this much.

"Good, now! wipe those sad expressions off your face and let's get back to training! moping around and crying isn't going to bring back the dead but training to be better and f*cking up some bastards who dare turn their swords at us will bring honor to their memory as they gave their life for this house and in return we will constantly improve and make it better!"

"Yes Sir!"

"I can't hear you! SPEAK WITH YOUR CHESTS!"

"YES SIR!!"

"WHO ARE WE?!"

"HOUSE AURELIUS!!"

"WHAT ARE WE?!"

"TIGERS!"

"AND WHAT DO WE DO WITH THOSE WHO DARE OPPOSE US?!"

"WE MAKE THOSE BASTARDS BLEEDDDD!"

"DAMN STRAIGHT!"

(Lilliana's POV)

Playing with my daughter in her room, i couldn't help but smile at her as she looked so cute and adorable. Aerian never liked playing with toys and would just eat, sleep and try to crawl around until he was able to read and then came the sword and other weapons. Part of me wishes that he didn't pick up weapons so early on but he was always a lot more mature for his age and understood more than some adults could about some situations. Yet it's those that bring me comfort as i know that he'll be able to protect this house and our family when he becomes the Lord.

Lost in my thoughts, i suddenly heard shouting coming from outside. Picking up Loreth, i walked out of her room and towards the source of the sound eventually coming to the training grounds. There i came to see my son standing in the middle of the ground facing the trainee knights shouting at them, not understanding what was happening at first once i heard what they were shouting i couldn't help but look at my son with pride. Being so young and being able to inspire the men and women like this, making them feel a belonging to the house and feel apart of the family.

Hearing the cheers, Loreth in my arms was getting excited and wanted to get down and go join in but i couldn't let her interrupt Aerians moment with the soldiers as i can tell they will be doing more training when they're finished. This earned me a tantrum from the little one who was not happy at all about the decision. "Your brother and father spoil you too much" i couldn't help but say as i gave her a wry smile and took her back into the keepso find something to distract her with.
