Hades.
Hydra.
A god and an Evil God, each standing at the pinnacle of the Ancient God level. Hades was a living anomaly among the Ancient Gods, surpassed only by Creator Gods like Gaia.
Likewise, Hydra was a force to be reckoned with. As one of the most renowned Outer Gods, Hydra's name commanded respect and fear throughout the chaotic sea.
Over countless eons, Hydra had grown stronger. Its progression, like that of all Evil Gods, was eerie and terrifying.
Even now, few knew the true extent of Hydra's power. It was still considered an Ancient God, but how far had it progressed within that tier? None could say for certain.
For Hades, there was no room for carelessness. Against such an opponent, even the slightest misstep could prove fatal.
This was no exaggeration.
Facing any Evil God required vigilance. These beings were inherently strange and unfathomable, capable of manifesting powers that defied logic.
Should one underestimate an Evil God, the consequences could be dire. Worse than death, one might face eternal torment, an existence worse than oblivion, shackled forever in unending agony.
Hades understood this all too well. He knew how to approach this battle.
"Such an enticing morsel," Hydra murmured with a sinister grin. "As I thought… being stopped by Chaos back then wasn't such a bad thing after all. Look at how much you've grown, Hades. Truly remarkable! You will be my finest feast."
Hydra opened its arms, its deranged expression tinged with greed and madness.
Outer Gods, Old Gods, the Great Old Ones—beings like Hydra were the true essence of the Cthulhu Pantheon.
In contrast, entities like the corrupted Poseidon or the Serpent Evil God were mere puppets, enslaved by the power of Evil Gods rather than true wielders of it.
The difference was critical. Evil God power was perilous, an uncontrollable force that demanded a heavy price.
To most, harnessing such power was impossible; they became its thralls instead. Those who thought otherwise were deluded, for their wills were merely extensions of the true master of that power.
For Evil Gods like Hydra, even fellow Evil Gods were potential prey. Given the chance, they would devour one another without hesitation.
At this moment, Hydra's sole desire was to consume Hades entirely.
"No more waiting!"
Hydra howled, its chaotic power forming countless grotesque heads—serpentine bodies with heads of varying shapes and features, far removed from the elegance of Medusa-like creatures. These monstrous entities surged toward Hades from every direction.
Hydra, whose name echoed that of the mythical serpent, revealed its origins. At its core, it was a serpent god, and no amount of transformation could alter this fundamental truth.
Despite its madness, Hydra remained calculating. It recognized the danger Hades posed and sought to weaken him before indulging in the feast.
Hades watched Hydra's theatrics, a trace of incredulity flashing across his calm demeanor.
How… dramatic.
Hydra's exaggerated expressions and twisted actions resembled the antics of a performer. Hades couldn't help but wonder how an Evil God could manage such a display.
"Perhaps this is just… their nature," he mused, shaking his head slightly.
However, Hades wasn't fazed. The power of his Helm of Darkness radiated outward, creating a barrier that stopped Hydra's assault in its tracks.
"Time to finish this," Hades said quietly.
He extended his hand, and a shadowy figure emerged behind him—the manifestation of his Underworld Armor.
This was the first time Hades had ever donned the armor since its creation.
The Underworld Armor shimmered, gradually materializing around Hades. Its form was flawless, radiating an aura of divine power intertwined with death.
Hydra narrowed its eyes. "Armor?" it sneered. "What do you hope to achieve with that? Such trinkets mean little to beings like us."
But Hydra's words betrayed its curiosity and caution.
For lower-tier gods, divine armor provided substantial power boosts. For beings at Hades' level, only artifacts of the highest caliber could enhance their abilities.
And Hades' Underworld Armor was no ordinary artifact. It was the culmination of ages of refinement under the nourishment of the World Tree, surpassing even the so-called Great Treasures wielded by other gods.
"Are you done?" Hades asked coldly. "If so, it's time to end this."
Hydra's chaotic mass trembled, its rage flaring.
"You dare underestimate me, Hades?" it hissed, its voice dripping with venom. "I will tear you apart and savor every piece of you!"
But Hades remained unmoved, his expression calm as ever.
The two beings clashed, their confrontation no longer reliant on mere physical combat but a battle of principles and laws.
At this level, true combat was a collision of pure essence, an exchange of divine authority.
Hades' armor shone brilliantly, amplifying his already overwhelming presence. The Helm of Darkness, the Sword of the Underworld, and the Underworld Armor resonated as one, forming a trinity of unmatched power.
"Now," Hades murmured.
He raised the Sword of the Underworld, its blade glowing with an ethereal light. Death itself seemed to emanate from the weapon, devouring everything it touched.
Hydra lunged, its chaotic power surging forth, but Hades moved with calculated precision.
With a single slash, he brought the blade down.
The chaotic sea fell silent.
The surge of Hydra's power dissipated, its countless heads disintegrating into ash. The twisted serpentine forms crumbled, leaving nothing but void in their wake.
Hydra's grotesque body wavered, its energy fading.
"Impossible…" Hydra muttered, its voice barely audible.
Hades stood firm, the aura of his Underworld Armor still gleaming.
"Chaos allowed you to live once," Hades said, his voice devoid of emotion. "But today, it ends."
Hydra's form collapsed entirely, its essence scattered across the chaotic sea.
The battle was over.
For Hades, it wasn't about victory. It was about reclaiming his pride, dispelling the shadows of the past, and proving that he was no longer the fledgling god who had once fled in terror.
In the end, only silence remained, as the chaotic sea bore witness to the fall of an Outer God.
