Urag shut his eyes, hard. He buried himself in her touch, pressing her body against his chest.
"I wasn't living, Eiravyne..I was rotting! Every breath without you was poison in my lungs. I walked, I spoke, but I was gone..hollow, a corpse that refused to stay in the ground. Do you understand? I wasn't alive. I was a ghost, and every step I took away from you… it tore me open, piece by piece."
His trembling lips found her fingers again, frantic, devouring each knuckle, each nail as though her touch was the only tether dragging him back from death.
"I died the moment I left you. Died, and the world kept mocking me by moving forward. Do you know what it was to see the sun rise, and feel nothing? To breathe, but choke on the emptiness? I…" His voice cracked.
His grip shook violently as he pressed her hand against his heart.
"I was…Dead!"
