( Ena's POV )
Mitsuru told me the content of the emergency message saying that the authorities had set up an evacuation center in a small mall, They said the place was safe and there was enough food for everyone.
In apocalyptic situations that description eighty percent of the time leads to a horrible scenario, and people don't come into this world at the same time plus this is a world dominated by demons, too many bad possibilities but we couldn't ignore our mission so we had to divide our forces.
I took Aigis with me and the others continued with our main mission, before we parted ways I tried to stock the motorcycle shop but I got an error message saying I had no storage space, my phone had filled up with just Kyoko's office, I don't know if that's too much or too little.
Ryuji then tried his phone and he had no problem storing the building, and with nothing else to do there our two groups moved in different directions.
I took an ATV and with Aigis sitting behind me we drove towards the mall, I knew the place the emergency message was talking about; it was a place near the school where many students spend time, but in this world it was difficult to know its exact location.
Aigis: Ena over there, I see a light.
Aigis seemed to have better vision than me, she said she saw something and I followed where she was pointing, soon I could see light that she mentioned, I parked to examine the structure that was emitting that light.
Aigis and I were standing in front of an electrical tower completely painted blue with red arrows along the entire structure pointing in the same direction, this was one of the landmarks that the emergency message mentioned we should follow so we were on the right track, we followed those directions and after passing a couple of electrical towers I made a good find, another leyline portal was around the base of the tower, I planned to put Kyoko's office and other useful buildings in the territory we had acquired so this was convenient.
After that, continuing our journey, we entered an area with many lakes of different sizes and in the center of the place was the shopping center we were looking for, the school bus was parked near the entrance and we parked there too.
First we checked the bus and found no one there, nor were there any signs of an altercation, next we went to the building, the automatic doors were still working fine and a chime sounded as we walked through the door, Aigis and I hurriedly looked around the mall's interior, but nothing came towards us, neither humans nor demons.
I quickly looked at my phone and the map wasn't detecting anything either, but the case with the ogres taught me that I couldn't trust that 100 percent, Aigis and I continued moving cautiously.
Walking through the normally crowded place with just the two of us was a bit unnerving but at this point it didn't affect me or matter to me much anymore.
The place looked clean and the shelves in every store we passed were fully stocked, and as we passed by a clothing store I looked at my own battle damaged ones from our previous encounter and I decided to make a quick stop, I traded my damage hoodie for a new black and blue hoodie that had fake dog ears on the hood.
After that little detour, we explored most of the mall but didn't find anything, so we sat down by a fountain and discussed the situation.
Aigis: Maybe everyone moved to a different place, the message said this was an evacuation center.
Ena: I don't think so, there would be signs of that for one thing I don't think they would have time to leave this place completely clean and well staked out.
Aigis: So what do you think happened?
Ena: I believe that those who responded to the emergency message are being hidden, someone or something wants us to get comfortable here and then, well you can imagine the rest.
There are too many possibilities there and almost none of them were good things so I didn't say more but Aigis knew we might not like what we find, I was going to expand our search to places not accessible to the public but when I was about to stand up something grabbed me from behind and tried to submerge me in the fountain, I threw my hand back and froze the water in the fountain.
Turning around and jumping back quickly, a hand was coming out of the frozen fountain and then the ice broke and half a dozen demons came out.
Those demons were a type of fish man, with blue scales and they were floating as if they were swimming in the air.
They seemed to be resistant to my magic so I switched to the naginata which was a reminder of my battle against the oni.
I jumped forward as I took a swing, two of the demons were counted in half, Aigis started shooting and she finished off two of them, one of those left floated towards Aigis with its claws raised, I threw my naginata at him and pierced his body which then transformed into energy particles, the last one grew confident when he saw I didn't have a weapon and came for me, but I kicked him so hard that his head exploded.
Aigis Ena!
Aigis threw my naginata back at me and we stood back to back waiting for more enemies to appear, but no one else appeared, I think we were a little on edge because of our encounter with the Onis and forgot that not all demons were a threat to us.
We turned our attention back to the source to investigate where they had come from but we got distracted by something else.
Floating above the fountain was a sphere of clear blue light, that was something different from the experience the demons transformed into and suddenly that light flew to my phone and I heard the message tone.
