Chapter 681 - Chapter 681: Memory Search

Selene stared intently into Toad's eyes, quickly catching a glimmer of fear. Just as she was about to draw her gun to finish him off, William suddenly interrupted, "Wait."

A portal appeared beside Selene.

"Throw him in," William instructed.

Although Selene asked, "Are his memories from over ten years ago even useful to you?" she still complied. Grabbing the chair Toad was tied to, she shoved it through the portal.

Through the portal, they watched as Toad screamed while two robots carried him away, locking him in a cell in Yellowstone National Park.

"Of course, it's useful," William replied.

Keeping Toad alive had a purpose. William recalled that this man had once emptied an entire data repository from the Russian government. In the future, William could attribute any intelligence he used from his own memory to "interrogations" of Toad, avoiding suspicion. Furthermore, as a professional informant, Toad might still have valuable information to offer.

Closing the portal, William smiled and said, "Alright, leave the scheming to me. Go to the airport, give the key to Frank Moses, and then head back to London to take care of Nissa. That girl only drank a few drops of Edward Bailey's blood, but her mind is overwhelmed with his massive memories. She hasn't recovered all afternoon."

"Damn it," Selene muttered, scolding him. "Didn't I tell you and Nissa to wait until I returned to handle this? Edward Bailey is a scientist who's lived 60 or 70 years. With Nissa being under 200 years old and this being her first time using memory searching, how could she possibly handle such a flood of knowledge and memories?

"She's lucky she's only dizzy and hasn't gone into a protective coma. Even elders like Victor, who've lived over a thousand years, avoid randomly using blood memory searches because the resulting mental chaos is unbearable. Without sufficient strength, it could drive someone insane."

"Okay, okay, okay," William raised his hands apologetically. "My bad. Just stash the key in an airport locker and go check on Nissa to make sure nothing serious happens."

"Fine, I'm on it."

Ending the call, Selene headed straight to the airport, stored the key in a locker, and drove back to London.

Upon arriving at the suburban manor, Selene entered Nissa's room and found her lying on the bed, frowning and mumbling incoherently.

Alarmed, Selene rushed over and patted her cheek. "Nissa, wake up. Wake up."

Nissa opened her eyes and stared at Selene for a moment before grabbing her hand and saying urgently, "Tell William immediately! Edward Bailey is the mastermind.

"The document was uploaded online using a guard's phone he hacked. That lunatic wants to smuggle a red mercury nuke back to England and detonate it as revenge against MI6 for imprisoning him for 31 years.

"And there's another nuke in Washington! He's planning to use it to avenge the CIA killing his wife and children."

"Two nukes?" Selene felt a chill run down her spine. She quickly covered her ear and called, "Sunday, did you hear that?"

"Yes, Miss Selene. Please rest assured, I am reporting this to Mr. Devonshire now."

"What did William say?" Nissa pressed urgently.

"Please wait a moment, Miss Nissa," Sunday replied. After a pause of several seconds, she continued, "Mr. Devonshire asked me to inform you that he's aware of the situation."

"That's it? That bastard isn't worried at all?" Nissa huffed angrily, slapping the bed. Grabbing Selene's hand, she pleaded, "Selene, can you try too?

"I only saw fragments of memories—too jumbled to make sense of. If we piece them together, we might find out where those red mercury nukes are hidden."

After a brief hesitation, Selene nodded. "Sunday, I'll need fresh blood. Can you arrange that?"

"One moment, Miss Selene. I'll need to consult Mr. Devonshire."

Several seconds later, William's voice sounded in Nissa's room. "Selene, are you certain you won't end up like Nissa?"

Selene thought for a moment. "I should be fine."

Considering Selene's 600 years of experience as a vampire, William conceded, "Alright, give it a shot. I'll handle it."

A similar directive was sent to the psychiatric facility where Edward Bailey was detained. When a doctor drew more blood from Edward, the latter questioned, "Didn't you already do this earlier? Why another test?"

"Apologies, no comment," the doctor replied curtly, his disdain for Edward clear.

Though a standard blood test required only 3-4 milliliters, the doctor drew a full 20 milliliters before leaving, satisfied. While this amount of blood wouldn't harm Edward, it was more than Selene needed.

William waited outside the hospital in his car. After the doctor placed the blood vial in the trunk, William snapped his fingers, opening a portal in the trunk. Using telekinesis, he tossed the vial through the portal.

Selene caught the vial, uncorked it without hesitation, and drank the blood. Instantly, a torrent of memories surged into her mind. Clutching her head, she dropped to a crouch.

"Nissa!" Nissa jumped off the bed and helped Selene onto it.

Fortunately, Selene's endurance far surpassed Nissa's. Though her mind throbbed with sharp pain, it was still manageable.

"I'm fine," Selene said, gripping Nissa's hand and closing her eyes to focus. After a long silence, she asked, "Are the nukes stored in silver-colored aluminum cases?"

"Yes, yes! I saw aluminum cases too," Nissa replied excitedly. "And I remember the case was placed in a storage room wall. But the location and path to the storage room are too blurry."

William's voice suddenly cut in. "I'll dispatch spider robots to the Kremlin's underground vault. Identifying the exact storage room is up to you two."

A portal opened in Nissa's room. Stepping through, they were greeted by Sunday's voice. "Welcome to the Yellowstone Base, Miss Selene, Miss Nissa. Exploring the Kremlin's underground vaults is estimated to take five hours. During this time, please rest in the designated lounge. I will notify you when preparations are complete."

"Good," Selene said, enduring occasional flashes of chaotic memories. She and Nissa followed a robot to the lounge and lay down to rest.

Five hours later, a beeping sound woke Selene. She opened her eyes, revealing silver-tinged pupils. Nissa approached, holding a cup.

After drinking the red liquid in one gulp, Selene clutched her forehead momentarily. Her memories finally began to settle.

"Let's go, Nissa. The sooner we deal with the red mercury nukes, the sooner I can discard these memories."

"You can discard them?" Nissa asked, thrilled.

"Yes," Selene nodded. "It's a new ability I just gained. Once this is over, I'll teach you how to use it."
