Chapter 993 - Chapter 233

Looking after her in confusion, I shrugged and unpacked my writing utensils with a large sheet of paper, getting to work redrawing the fuin and making the necessary corrections as I went along.

Fortunately, I had enough experience in this regard to avoid making any serious mistakes. Although some elements were intended for working with spiritual power, the general principles that would work even with natural or elemental chakra had not been abolished.

Just as I finished the rough draft of the modified first stage of Yashiro no Fuin (Seal of the Shrine), the girls returned. The priestess shyly avoided looking me in the eye, while Kana grinned openly from ear to ear in a frankly frightening grimace thanks to her scar, which made me barely suppress a shiver.

"Miroku-dono, I've finished the rough draft, please take a look," I said to her, avoiding the awkward silence, although I had no idea what had happened.

It was clear that it had something to do with the dojutsu, but how? Did she see me without my clothes on? I couldn't think of any other reason.

"So fast?" she asked, genuinely surprised, approaching the table and carefully examining my work.

"It's easier to tweak and change a finished fuin than to create one from scratch," I shrugged, "but the second one will take some work."

"Do you want me to redraw it?"

"Exactly, I added a function to power and activate printing from the scroll, so all that's left is to check the effectiveness of the trimmed version and then try to improve performance," I grunted, not doubting for a second that the new fuin complex would at least activate, especially since the demon was very quick to send suitable test subjects.

"Indeed, very convenient," Jonin replied, folding her arms across her chest.

"Who would have thought," the priestess muttered, rolling her eyes. "Thank you, Nara-sama, I'll make a copy and check its functionality as soon as possible."

"Excellent," he nodded to her, "and now it's getting late, so I won't take up any more of your time. I bid you farewell, Miroku-dono."

"Kana-chan will show you to the guest quarters, Nara-dono," the girl smiled, "and we can continue with your questions tomorrow."

"Certainly," I smiled at her and bowed politely, following the kunoichi who waved her hand.

However, we didn't have to go far — after a couple of turns, the girl led me to several doors at the end of the corridor and opened the nearest one.

Entering the dark room, I flicked the switch on the wall and looked around at my new home — a five-by-five-meter square with gray stone walls, a lamp on one wall, no windows, a narrow bed with bedding and a blanket on top, a small table and chair, a coat rack, and a nightstand. Modest and ascetic, but everything I needed was there.
