The Heavenly Emperor Fuxi might not care about people from his own world, but if someone from another world were to interfere, it was highly unlikely he would remain indifferent. Daniel Davis didn't dare take that risk.
Unless he took Fuxi's Sword and never returned, which would be a loss, as this world offered unique cultivation benefits that others didn't.
"Could the Dragon of Time's mention of 'merit completion' refer to transcending this world? If so, perhaps the absence of the Dragon of Time, Ju Mang, and others later on makes sense. But now isn't the time to think about this. It seems I won't get Nuwa's Blood Jade after all."
Sensing the commotion outside, Daniel Davis reluctantly decided to give up on Nuwa's Blood Jade. The Shu Mountain Sect had arrived, likely alerted by the disturbance in the formation protecting the Three Divine Artifacts.
As the strongest cultivation sect in the Chinese Paladin world, the Shu Mountain Sect's power was undeniable. Even with the Heavenly Demon Emperor leading a massive demon attack, not all of the sect's disciples would be mobilized, especially the elders, who wouldn't act unless absolutely necessary.
Just like how the Qiong Hua Sect's elders, Qingyang and Chongguang, hadn't intervened during the demon invasion unless the sect was on the brink of destruction, the Shu Mountain Sect operated similarly. Only five elders had faced the Heavenly Demon Emperor earlier, but Daniel Davis knew there were far more elders in the Shu Mountain Sect, as they hadn't suffered a major battle like the Qiong Hua Sect.
"Three elders are here, staying outside to avoid damaging the hall?"
Through the window, Daniel Davis saw three white-haired elders standing at the entrance of the Xuanguang Hall, positioned to block any escape route. No matter which direction someone tried to flee, they would be intercepted.
"You can wait as long as you want." Since Daniel Davis had already obtained what he came for, there was no need to engage with them. Using the Flying Thunder God Technique, he vanished from the hall just as the three elders rushed in, only to find it empty and the Shennong Cauldron missing.
"These demons have some nerve!" One of the elders, clearly hot-tempered, flew into the air, scanning the area for any sign of the thief.
"It seems demons were involved. We may have fallen for a diversion. We planned to use the Three Divine Artifacts to deal with the enemy, but now..." Another elder sighed. In his mind, the Heavenly Demon Emperor's attack was merely a distraction to steal the artifacts.
This wasn't an unreasonable assumption. The Shennong Cauldron, created by Shennong, was the ancestor of demons and monsters. If not for demons, who else would take it? After all, Nuwa's Blood Jade and Fuxi's Sword were far more valuable.
Moreover, while some demons possessed spatial abilities, it was more common among the demon race. For example, Chonglou could freely travel between the six realms due to his mastery of spatial manipulation, and Long Ming's Dimensional Travel Technique allowed him to cross between the demon and human realms.
They would never guess that Daniel Davis took the Shennong Cauldron simply to refine medicine. The Shu Mountain Sect knew the cauldron's purpose, but using such a divine artifact for ordinary alchemy seemed wasteful.
Just like how the Qiong Hua Sect knew the Water Spirit Pearl's uses but rarely employed it, except for Su Yu when she first joined. Even Su Yao, the sect leader, rarely used it.
This was the difference between personal and sect-owned items. Sect rules were strict, as seen when Dao Zhen stole the Red Snow Flowing Pearl Pill and faced punishment. If the pill had been personal property, there would have been no issue.
Similarly, Daniel Davis could use the Water Spirit Pearl as he pleased, but Su Yao, as the sect leader, couldn't carry it around freely.
"He's transformed."
After using the Flying Thunder God Technique to escape the Xuanguang Hall, Daniel Davis returned to the edge of the battlefield. He watched as the now-transformed Heavenly Demon Emperor chased the Shu Mountain disciple wielding the Demon-Subduing Sword. Even with the five elders trying to stop him, they couldn't keep up.
"What will the Shu Mountain Sect do now?" With the Demon-Subduing Sword wielder unable to defeat the Heavenly Demon Emperor, the others stood no chance. As for围攻, the Heavenly Demon Emperor wasn't foolish enough to stand still and let them surround him. The five elders hadn't joined the fight earlier not out of pride but because they couldn't keep up with the demon's speed and feared the Demon-Subduing Sword's power.
The sword, while primarily effective against demons, could still harm humans.
Of course, even without the Demon-Subduing Sword, the Shu Mountain Sect had another trump card: the Three Divine Artifacts' sealing formation. Using the divine power of the artifacts, the formation was incredibly powerful, capable of sealing even the Heavenly Demon Emperor. However, with the Shennong Cauldron gone, the formation couldn't be activated.
"Activate the formation!"
As the Heavenly Demon Emperor wreaked havoc, a cold voice rang out. Hundreds of Shu Mountain disciples formed a linked Thirty-Six Heavenly Stars Sword Formation.
Like the Earthly Branches Twenty-Four Formation of the Farm Family in Qin's Moon, the Thirty-Six Heavenly Stars Sword Formation's power increased with the number of participants. This time, the formation was led by the Demon-Subduing Sword.
By this point, many of the attacking demons had been cleared, allowing the disciples to gather and complete the formation.
"The Shu Mountain Sect is impressive."
Using the disciple with the Demon-Subduing Sword as bait, they lured the Heavenly Demon Emperor into the formation, forcing him to face the enhanced Thirty-Six Heavenly Stars Sword Formation. Daniel Davis realized that even he might have fallen for such a tactic, though he could escape using spatial abilities. The Heavenly Demon Emperor, however, had no such option.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Amidst the shattered flying swords, the transformed Heavenly Demon Emperor was severely injured, but the Shu Mountain disciples also suffered heavy losses. The demon's powerful cross-shaped slash caused significant casualties, resulting in a stalemate.
However, the Heavenly Demon Emperor, being a demon, remained ferocious even while injured, attacking the disciples with increased frenzy. If Daniel Davis were in his position, he would have fled immediately. After all, there's always another day to fight.
Facing the Heavenly Demon Emperor's relentless assault, the Shu Mountain disciples suffered heavy casualties. Eventually, the disciple with the Demon-Subduing Sword made a decision: he lured the demon toward the top of the Demon Locking Tower, and both of them entered it.
"How foolish. But my Demon-Subduing Sword... Will I have to wait until Jing Tian appears to get it?"
Jing Tian himself didn't care much for the Demon-Subduing Sword. Although he later retrieved it, his son, Jing Xiaolou, reportedly gave it away. What a wasteful son.
The name "Jing Xiaolou" was interesting—Chonglou (Red-Haired Demon) and Xiaolou (Little Tower). Perhaps there was some connection.
"I'll take a look inside."
After watching the two enter the Demon Locking Tower, Daniel Davis decided to investigate. Of course, he wouldn't enter in person but sent a shadow clone instead. Even if something went wrong, it was just a clone.
Entering the Demon Locking Tower was easy, but escaping was nearly impossible. Normally, one would have to destroy the tower to get out, which Daniel Davis doubted he could do at his current level.
As for destroying the Seven-Star Coiling Dragon Pillar like Li Xiaoyao did, that wasn't an option now, as the current Demon Locking Tower was supported by the Five Elements' power, not the pillars. If Li Xiaoyao had entered this version of the tower, he might not have escaped.
The tower was later modified by the Guardian King of the Prison to address geological issues, which ironically led to his death at the hands of Li Xiaoyao, Zhao Ling'er, and their group.
In other words, the current Demon Locking Tower had no Guardian King of the Prison.
"No Guardian King of the Prison, huh? Even if he were here, he probably couldn't defeat the Heavenly Demon Emperor. The immortals in this world are really weak."
Daniel Davis's shadow clone, after entering the tower, couldn't help but think about how the Guardian King of the Prison was later killed by Li Xiaoyao and Zhao Ling'er.
"The interior is much larger than the outside. And the Secret Door Technique doesn't work here. Of course, if spatial abilities could be used freely, demons skilled in spatial manipulation could easily escape."
The shadow clone didn't immediately chase the Heavenly Demon Emperor but tested whether it could leave the tower. Daniel Davis's caution paid off, as escaping the tower was impossible without destroying it. Otherwise, he'd be stuck inside for centuries, waiting for Chonglou to appear.
Since escape wasn't an option, Daniel Davis lost interest in obtaining the Demon-Subduing Sword. What would he do with it inside the tower? Help the Shu Mountain Sect kill the demons?
"I only see the Demon-Subduing Sword. The Five Spirit Wheel isn't here. Was it stolen already? Dao Run's rank was too low to know the details."
After sending his shadow clone into the tower, Daniel Davis watched the Shu Mountain disciples clean up the battlefield. He wondered why the Five Spirit Wheel hadn't appeared. If it had, the Shu Mountain Sect might have suffered fewer losses.
Dao Run, though an elite disciple, wasn't privy to the sect's secrets. For example, the Demon-Subduing Sword was said to be placed at the top of the Demon Locking Tower to suppress the demons, but in reality, it had been lost inside the tower by a disciple named Wei Jing.
"The battlefield isn't even cleaned up, and they're already sending people to search for the Shennong Cauldron. The Shu Mountain Sect really values it. But it's time to leave."
Noticing that many disciples had been dispatched to search for the Shennong Cauldron, Daniel Davis decided it was time to leave. He had already achieved his goal.
"The efficacy of the Real Pill has increased by about 50%. The Shennong Cauldron is truly remarkable. Now it's time to try the Immortal Gathering Pill." Back at his manor in Shouyang County, Daniel Davis immediately began using the Shennong Cauldron to refine pills. The results were astounding. Even Yun Zhongjun, who had spent his life refining pills, occasionally made mistakes with the Real Pill. The Immortal Gathering Pill was even more prone to errors.
But with the Shennong Cauldron, mistakes were virtually eliminated.
"Haha, I can now treat Immortal Gathering Pills like candy."
Looking at the five freshly refined Immortal Gathering Pills, Daniel Davis laughed heartily. Being able to refine Immortal Gathering Pills as easily as Real Pills meant that, with proper planning, top-tier experts could be mass-produced.
Combined with other basic pills like the Foundation Pill, Blood Qi Pill, Qi Gathering Pill, and Meridian Stabilizing Pill, even a mediocre expert could be created. While such an expert might not defeat true top-tier opponents, they could easily handle first-rate experts.
"If only I could obtain higher-level pill formulas. I wonder if I'll ever get to a world with such alchemists."
Daniel Davis had no intention of researching pill formulas himself—it would be a waste of time. He could only hope to one day visit a world with skilled alchemists.
"Ziyun, long time no see. Where are Huaishuo and Xuanji?"
A few days later, Daniel Davis returned to Qingluan Peak and met Murong Ziyun, but only him. Curious, Daniel Davis asked about Huaishuo and Xuanji.
"Huaishuo went home for a visit, and Xuanji went with him."
Murong Ziyun had recently taken Huaishuo and Xuanji to search for scattered Qiong Hua Sect disciples, including some from Su Shen's generation.
Not everyone was willing to stay in the mountains and cultivate forever. This was a common issue for cultivation sects. Some elders would leave for long periods before returning.
Under Su Yao's leadership, some disciples had left the Qiong Hua Sect due to her personality. Murong Ziyun had gone to inform them of recent events, though it was unclear whether he intended to rebuild the sect.
For now, at least, Murong Ziyun showed no signs of wanting to rebuild the Qiong Hua Sect.
Soon, Murong Ziyun left. For someone as reserved as him, visiting Yun Tianhe and Han Lingsha was already a significant gesture.
"I visited the Nest Country and saw Huaizhi and the others. They miss you. Would you like to visit them together?"
