"King of Curses, goodbye—no, let's make that goodbye forever."
"You bastards!"
Sukuna glared furiously at Satoru Gojo, his face twisted with rage as he saw the infuriating smirk on Gojo's face. Just as Sukuna was about to unleash a torrent of insults, Daniel Davis crushed his soul, extinguishing the Curse King who had once wrought havoc a thousand years ago. And with that, Sukuna was gone forever.
"So this is what 'Idle Transfiguration' is all about."
After leaving Satoru Gojo, Daniel didn't immediately return to his own pursuits. Instead, he tracked down several curse users who had come out of hiding after hearing about Gojo's sealing. He used them as experimental subjects for his research into Idle Transfiguration. For Mahito, this technique was an innate talent, much like Gojo's Six Eyes and Limitless Technique.
Mahito didn't need to understand the principles behind Idle Transfiguration to use it; it was like a regular person using a smartphone without knowing how it works internally. Most jujutsu sorcerers were the same—they treated their techniques like appliances, powered by their cursed energy, without delving into the underlying mechanics. Only a few, like Yuki Tsukumo, sought deeper understanding. She had hoped to find a way to prevent the creation of curses altogether, but her progress had been slow due to her personal principles and ethical boundaries.
Daniel, however, had no such limitations. By experimenting on evildoers and criminals, he methodically analyzed and mastered Idle Transfiguration. The curse users, who had committed countless atrocities, made for perfect test subjects. Their emergence after Gojo's sealing was a rare opportunity for Daniel to refine his techniques.
"Creating cursed corpses? That's nothing. With this, I could mass-produce sorcerers instead. It's quite similar to a cultivation furnace, actually."
Through experiments with Idle Transfiguration, Daniel discovered that he could alter souls to grant ordinary people cursed energy, effectively transforming them into jujutsu sorcerers. For those already born as sorcerers, their cursed energy could be increased. As long as the transformation didn't push beyond the natural limits of the soul, it caused no harm to the body.
Furthermore, using Idle Transfiguration allowed Daniel to improve his healing abilities. He could now replicate Shoko Ieiri's advanced Reverse Cursed Technique, enabling him to heal injuries and restore damaged souls.
"Maybe once I grow stronger, I'll return to help you fully resolve the curse problem. But for now, you're on your own."
As he prepared to leave the Jujutsu Kaisen world, Daniel felt a twinge of reflection. During his time there, he had avoided meeting with Gojo and the others but was aware of how busy they had been. It seemed they were dealing with a heightened curse activity period. Every year, there were phases of increased and decreased curse activity—likely due to the time needed for negative emotions to accumulate and give birth to new curses. In a few years, perhaps more special-grade curses like Mahito or Jogo—manifestations of humanity's fear of nature—would emerge.
Pirate World
"So, the seas have been pretty quiet lately, huh? Everyone must be training in secret."
Returning to the Pirate World, Daniel glanced at a newspaper and listened to Chelsea's report. He nodded thoughtfully. Just like in the original storyline, Luffy and his crew were training under mentors like Silvers Rayleigh. The Straw Hat Pirates had split up temporarily to hone their individual specialties, though this time, they didn't scatter completely. Instead, they divided into two groups: the combat team and the support team.
Sanji, to his fortune, avoided the nightmare of being stranded on Kamabakka Kingdom and enduring two years of torment from the okama. This meant he wouldn't end up with his infamous nosebleeds whenever he saw a beautiful woman.
Meanwhile, the other Supernovas continued their journey through the New World. However, they quickly encountered the harsh reality of this treacherous sea, which forced them into a period of dormancy. The power gap between the New World and the first half of the Grand Line was immense. Sheer determination wasn't enough to bridge the divide. Any pirate dreaming of freely sailing the New World would be delusional. Even the current Yonko had spent years in the New World before gaining their strength and influence.
This was true even for the Pirate King, Roger. The New World wasn't just home to powerful pirates—it was also rife with natural disasters and formidable Sea Kings, making it far deadlier than the first half of the Grand Line. Those without sufficient strength would merely become food for the Sea Kings.
In the first half of the Grand Line, encounters with Sea Kings were rare. But in the New World, they were highly active, often appearing in groups. Situations like Luffy's, where defeating one Sea King led to the appearance of another, were commonplace.
While the pirates seemed to be lying low, the Navy was busy conducting a massive recruitment drive to recover from the losses inflicted by the Akatsuki organization. Fortunately, the three Admirals were still intact. Otherwise, even the selection of Admirals might have required new recruits. At the same time, the Navy's G1 Branch was under reconstruction.
Taking advantage of this recruitment drive, Zephyr had returned to the Navy's training camp for new recruits. Sengoku, Garp, and even Tsuru saw nothing suspicious about Zephyr's change in attitude, as they believed they understood his straightforward character. However, they were mistaken this time. Though Zephyr wasn't one for scheming, he now had powerful backing. Once Sengoku discovered that every recruit trained by Zephyr was loyal to him, it wouldn't be surprising if Sengoku ended up spitting blood from anger.
After spending a few days in the Pirate World and accompanying Ada and the others, Daniel returned to the Marvel Universe. He checked on the status of the Power Stone but found that Star-Lord still hadn't appeared.
"Odin hasn't come to Earth to retire yet. By my calculations, that's still a few years away."
Thanos's invasion was set to occur after Odin's death. As long as Odin lived, Thanos wouldn't dare act rashly. Even in his old age, Odin wielded Gungnir, a weapon that even Thanos had to respect. In fact, Odin's lifespan might now exceed that of the original timeline. Thanks to Daniel's actions, Frigga was still alive. Though she had died quickly in the original story, Frigga was actually a powerful sorceress. Her magic could extend Odin's life significantly, even in his weakened state.
With Frigga alive, Loki's schemes wouldn't go unnoticed. When it came to magic, Loki was far inferior to Frigga, who had been his teacher.
Silent Hill
"Melinda is missing? You people really can't catch a break. By the way, where's Coulson?"
The day after returning to Marvel, Daniel received a call from Skye, which surprised him. Normally, it was Coulson who contacted him.
"Coulson is busy with other matters. This situation is a bit like my last one—Melinda disappeared suddenly."
As S.H.I.E.L.D.'s current director, Coulson was understandably busy with classified operations. Hearing this, Daniel didn't press for details about Coulson's whereabouts. Instead, he asked where they were.
"Silent Hill. It's a familiar name. Send me the map."
Using the map Skye provided, Daniel opened a portal through the Gate of Secrets and arrived in Silent Hill.
"This place feels... odd."
Surveying the surroundings, Daniel flew into the air to get an aerial view of the entire town.
"It looks like a natural barrier zone."
The forces of nature are full of mysteries, Daniel thought. Much like the Heavenly Energy Valley in The Outcast, Silent Hill seemed to possess unique geomantic properties. With his expertise in alchemy and geomancy, Daniel could discern things invisible to the average person.
"Let's meet Skye first."
Inside a hotel lobby, Daniel found Skye.
"I go by Daisy now," she corrected him.
"Apologies, Daisy. Where did Melinda disappear?"
After reuniting with her biological parents, Skye had begun using her real name, Daisy Johnson. "Skye" had been her name at the orphanage.
"Right over here." Daisy led Daniel to the spot where Melinda had vanished, a location not far from the hospital in town.
"What were you two doing here?" Daniel asked casually while examining the area. Silent Hill was a remote town, far from any major city.
"Vacation," Daisy replied, pulling out a pamphlet promoting Silent Hill as a peaceful retreat. The brochure highlighted the town's picturesque environment, clean air, and well-equipped facilities, presenting it as a tranquil haven for relaxation.
The pamphlet wasn't wrong. From above, Silent Hill appeared serene and lush with natural beauty—if one ignored certain undercurrents.
Analyzing the pamphlet, Daisy's account, and his observations, Daniel suddenly recalled what Silent Hill truly was: a location from a horror game.
"Left side, Raccoon City. Right side, Silent Hill. Which would you choose?"
Daniel chuckled at the memory of a question he'd seen before. Many people preferred Raccoon City, as there was at least the slim chance of escaping its horrors with firearms. Silent Hill, on the other hand? Forget about it.
"Rustic Yharnam, Hospitable Undead Burg, Model Gotham, Noble Morioh Town... You could add Heavenly Host Elementary, Hinamizawa Village, or Fujimiya Village to the list. All of them are 'warm and welcoming' tourist destinations."
"Of all places, why
here?" Daniel sighed, bemused by Melinda and Daisy's choice of vacation spot. In a normal world, Silent Hill might indeed be a charming destination. But in Marvel's universe? Such peaceful-looking towns often hid dangerous secrets.
