Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: When Two Becomes One (Edited)

Inside a lavish Japanese-style house, in a dimly lit room, a deathly pale teen who appeared to be no more than 13 years old was going through what we call an existential crisis.

He had just received the most shocking revelation of his life.

The teen's face was morphed with dread but he did not give into despair.

""…What is this?…I was/am a fictional character?"" Two distinct voices resonated inside the teen's mind.

Two different minds: one who chased perfection while other who embraced imperfection...

Soon, the right side of the teen's face morphed and gained demonic traits. His eye took on a darker plum-red hue. Its depth invoked a forbidding and cold feeling, sparkling with murderous intent.

Meanwhile, the left side retained the former human features of the face, but the eye showed more humanity than the right eye could ever.

It was as if both sides of the face belonged to different individuals.

"You dare intrude my body? Filthy human?!" the right side spoke venomously.

"..Go fuck yourself, your nothing but a fake Michael Jackson!" the left side retorted while maintaining a calm demeanor.

Right side was able to access all of the left's memories, while the left could also do the same to right's.

"Tell me, how does it feel like to have wasted centuries and never realize the truth of the Blue Spider Lily? How slow are you? For fuck sake, you have five fucking brains!"The left insulted the right with all of its frustrations.

The right remained silent. He was in a while being in a state of shock, contemplating the new memories flooding his mind.

The right spent centuries searching for the Blue Spider Lily—the mythical flower responsible for his demonization and also…his weakness to sunlight.

Based on left's memories, right realized how fickle fate could be.

Apparently, the flower he put all of his effort into searching for…only bloomed two to three days a year and only during the daytime at that.

The odds of finding the flower were negligible. How can he ever find ine when sunlight was his biggest weakness?

Hundreds of years of effort put into searching the flower…were wasted.

However, the right did not let himself drown into depression.

Depression was nothing but a sign of weakness. And for someone like him

who hated weakness with a passion… it was natural for right to overcome depression easily.

With this newfound information and several key details, the right felt confident in attaining all of his desires.

Conquering the sun? Becoming a perfect being? Information about the so-called protagonist? The demon slayer corps?

The right could recall everything what left knew about this world.

And he no longer saw any use for the left one and decided to end this intruder once and for all.

Naturally, the right one was none other than Muzan Kibutsuji, the immortal demon king who hated the very concept of change.

In contrast, the left one was a soul from another reality. The identity of this soul was a human named Makkari, a man gifted with incredible good looks. Like any sane person, Makkari abused his looks to get what he wanted in life.

Makkari was also a bit of an Otaku, and he knew quite well whose body his soul was trying to take over.

After all, it was a charahe liked but was very disappointed in his actions, especially during the final arc of Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Till the end, Muzan remained a coward who hid behind his demons.

He had several opportunities to end Tanjiro.

He also had access to perhaps the most broken demon art in this world…and it belonged to his cherished subordinate Nakime.

Her blood demon art was literally an Infinity fortress.

If Muzan used its full potential before the events of Infinity Castle Arc, he could have won.

Makkari was very frustrated with Muzan's actions. And if he took over Muzan, he would try to do better than this failure of a demon.

Now coming back…

'Fuck! Fuck! Fick! If I don't do anything, this demon fuck will definitely end my life! I don't want to die..think, Makkari, think!!!'

Right then, as if Heaven heard his plea, Makkari had anidea. He was not sure if it would work, but he had to take the risk.

One thing in his favor was that if he wanted, he could take control of the body for a short amount of time before Muzan fought back to counter his control.

And Muzan also appeared to be unaware that Makkari could take over his body even if it lasted for few seconds.

'A second will be more than enough! It is now or never!'

With that, Makkari focused all of his being into gaining control over the body. He succeeded; the right side was no longer demonic, and now..the body gained a more human appearance.

Without wasting any time, Makkari chanted:

'Burst!'

Just then, the teen's body exploded in a violent mess. Blood splattered all around the room. Invoking a horrific scene with iron-like stench of blood all over the room.

Makkari had just attempted to explode Muzan's entire body. With Muzan's Biokinesis, this was a piece of cake.

Why did he do this if he knew Muzan could just regenerate back?

Since Muzan was the most powerful demon, wouldn't he just regenerate instantly?

That should have been the case, but what Makkari did was simply abuse this fact..

The soul is the body, and the body is the soul.

Sounds familiar?

It's a concept Makkari remembered from one of his favorite anime/manga, Jujutsu Kaisen.

But why would he do this, given Jujutsu Kaisen was a different anime and its logic should not apply here?

Well, it was a gamble.

After Muzan's body exploded, it started regenerating back almost instantly.

However, the being who was now standing was neither Muzan nor Makkari.

It was someone else.

Someone different, as if a new being had been just born.

A young man who appeared to be in his late twenties, standing six feet two inches tall, with messy white hair, plum-red eyes, deathly pale skin, and a devilish grin adorning his beautiful face.

"The body is the soul and the soul is the body? I must say…you did well Makkari! Unfortunately,…I am neither you or Muzan." His grin spread even wider, as if he found his situation hilariously appealing.

"I am better than both of you."

What Makkari did was harm Muzan's body, and this would inevitably affect the soul in some way. Since the body and the soul are equal (according to his hypothesis), and exists in different planes at the same time, both could affect each other in one way or another. And by performing the act of self harm, it would temporarily cause the shape of their souls to be affected.

Also the time needed for Muzan to recover was enough for Makkari to exert his will and override Muzan's soul information over the body, effectively giving him full control permanently.

However, things did not go as Makkari had anticipated.

By some cosmic mystery, it ended up casuing a new change into their beings. What happened was that Makkari's soul merged with Muzan's, causing the emergence of this new being.

The synergy was perfect. Both souls fused to become one, giving birth to a new entity.

This 'new' Muzan looked at the moon with his beautiful plum eyes which appeared brighter than before.

"Demon, huh? This will be fun."

"I can't wait to meet you my dear…Nezuko…" said 'Muzan' with a massive grin.

Few minutes later.

Muzan had one task.

He had to pinpoint exactly where he was in the plot. The last major event was the death of two members Upper Moon, Daki and Gyutaro.

It was clear he was long past the events of season two. He also recalled that former Muzan ordered Gyokko to confirm his lead about the Swordsmith Village roughly a month and a half ago.

As per his understanding of the plot, Gyokko took about two months to find and then attack the village with Hentengu.

"So, I have half a month before the Swordsmith Village arc, huh?" he muttered to himself, a cold smile creeping across his face.

"This will be a massacre hahahaha." Lost in his twisted dark fantasies, the main reason Muzan wanted to destroy everything in the Swordsmith village is to severely cripple the Demon Slayer corps.

To combat an organization effectively, a strategic approach involves targeting and eliminating the crucial resources vital for the organization's operations.

In this case, the swordsmith village was a place filled with many swordsmiths. It was also the place where most of the Nichirin swords were made.

He had decided to get rid of the demon slayer corps. Unlike his predecessor, he did not underestimate the current pillar hashiras.

Also, since there is an existence of a supposed "chosen one" in this world, he had to get rid of him before things get hectic.

Worst case scenario he would isolate himself in the Infinity castle and let them die of their demon slayer mark's curse.

Lost in thought, Muzan was suddenly jolted back to reality by the abrupt change of sight before him.

The space before him twisted and distorted, revealing a floating message in the air:

[Ding! You have been chosen as the host of the $&@€£¥+$ System.]

Looking at thesystem prompt in front of him, he widened his eyes in shock.

Even though his birth was a result of the merger of a reincarnator with previous Muzan, the chance of him supposedly awakening a 'system' was beyond his wildest imagination.

After all it was a cliche concept. What kind of God or Cosmic Being would hand out such a busted power?

Was he Heaven's favoured one or something?

He didn't know.

"Is this what I think it is? System?"

This…this complicates everything. Thought Muzan.

He was still unsure if this was an illusion but he quickly discarded that thought. He told himself that if Makkari could reincarnate in this world then anything is possible.

Making up his mind to investigate this 'system", he began to formulate various conclusions.

One, this might be a trap to become a plaything of a higher entity. He was fifty fity on this one.

Two, this System was here to groom him…like Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling.

Third, he had no idea.

Also, was this system responsible for bringing Makkari intothis world? If yes then why didn't it help him to subdue Muzan's consciousness? Shouldn't this work similar to Self Insert logic?

Why did it wait till he was born? He was very suspicious of this system thing.

"System? Can you speak?"

[The System does not have a consciousness yet. It gives an appropriate response based on your question in a Q&A format.]]

"I see…"

"Were you responsible for bringing Makkari here? Why didn't you help him take over Muzan'? Why wait for my birth?" He finally decided to ask the question that were clogging his mind.

[Yes, the system was indeed responsible, but Makkari is not the chosen host, you are. You meet the required qualification to be the host.]

He narrowed his eyes at the system's response. The system was telling him eve. It was obviously hiding something.

He moved on and contijued with his investigation.

"What can you do? What functions do you have? Is this kike an RPG game? Do I need to do quests or something?"

Given the fact that he couldn't read the name of this system….he had no idea what to even think. Maybe it was supposed to he a secret, something he would get to know when he gets stronger?

[Right now most of the functions are locked. You must complete the first quest to increase your authority.]

"Quest? What if I don't want to? You can't force me can you" Muzan already had a rough idea about the quest function. If he finished the quest, he would be reward and unlock all functions of this sustem.

But…there was no free food in this world. He understood that the system wanted him to do something, and only after completing the quest would he even get rewarded.

But if he accepted the quest, naturally he would have to face a penalty right? What if he refused to do it? Would the system force him to take it?

He hated even the thought of becoming a plaything of a higher existence. It disgusted and angered him to no end.

How dare someone play with his life?

[Finishing the first quest is essential for your growth. The system is capable of making you the apex predator of whatever world you are in. If you deny it, you will also lose the chance to travel to different worlds. Are you willing to give up such an opportunity?]

Comprehending the system's words, he felt like a cog in the wheel.

If the system has the power to let him travel to different worlds, how could he ever let go of such an opportunity?

Countless worlds to plunder, countless beauties to conquer, just the thought made him so excited that he got an erection.

"Tell me about the quest ." He continued.

[Ding! First Quest triggered!]

[Quest: The One Who Thinks He's Perfect

(˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)

Objective:

Look who it is, the Demon King who can't even handle a little sunlight. Your enemies are laughing at you, calling you a coward despite your so-called power. Time to prove you're not just all talk. You need to:

- Obliterate the Demon Slayer Corps (if you can)

- Defeat all Pillar Hashiras and make sure they can't ever fight back (without breaking a sweat, right?)

- Conquer your biggest weakness: the sun (good luck with that)

Time limit: 2 months (starting today)

Rewards:

System Rank Up: Unlock all basic functions of the system and get the answers you seek. Other parts of the reward will be revealed upon quest completion (if you make it).]

"…" Why did he feel like the system was mocking him the more he read the quest? And ehat was up with that emoji?

Ignoring the mockery, his thoughts shifted to the objective.

The objectives of the quest were the main goals the previous Muzan had. But he had a limited time frame to complete the quest.

The most difficult thing was conquering the sun. Now that he knew the truth about the Blue Spider Lily, it would make things easier but finding it within this timeframe was nearly impossible.

'Nezuko is really my golden ticket huh…' Muzan thought with a smile spreading through his face.

"I accept the quest."

[The two-month timer has begun. The system wishes you the best of luck!]

***

At the mountain's peak, surrounded by wisteria, stood a traditional Japanese mansion. A wooden veranda wrapped around it, leading to a Zen garden with white gravel, bonsai, stone lanterns, and a pond with large stones.

Inside one of the many rooms in this traditional Japanese mansion, a man in his twenties abruptly sprang up from his futon. His once partially rotted face now bore the full weight of the curse, leaving him barely able to see the light.

"W-What was that vision? Muzan Kibutsuji... conquered the sun?" he exclaimed in horror.
