CHAPTER 29
ALEXIA P. O. V
By the time l was done with today work, l was exhausted, l opened my door expecting to see the mess of this morning but oddly enough everywhere was sparkling clean
"What the hell?" I muttered
"Hey girl" Clara squeal
"Hi C, how... How did you get in?"
"With the keys, duh"
Seriously how many people have my keys?
"Oh ok, and to what did l owe this visit?"
"I ran away"
I raised a brow
"From who?"
"My brother,who else" she slumped down on the couch while l did the same
"And you ran away to the first place they'll search?"
"Hmm, I didn't quite think of that"
*Sighs* "fine you can stay for the night"
"Yay thanks A and by the way don't you clean up after you are done cooking? The kitchen was in a total chaos if l haven't step in, don't you have no sense of cleaning after yourself?" She scolded me
I shrugged not really ready to explain myself and made my way to my room and took a shower ready for a long night of rest before....
"Hey we aren't done yet, I won't let you sleep" Clara burst into the run just as l was about to close my eyes
"What now?"
"Don't you wanna hear how my first day of work went" she pouted
"So how was it?"
"Horrible" she exclaimed
"I don't know how you guys do it with all the typing and paperwork, my perfectly manicured nails are now in ruins" she whined
"Come on, Clara it isn't that so bad"
"No A, that is pure torture and there's no way l'm going back there tomorrow"
"What if your brother finds out?"
"He can eat bugs for all l care"
"Says the scared bunny"
"Who's a bunny"
"No-one"
She gave the side eye
"Hey have you heard the new Louis Vuitton handbag is out, is time for some shopping" she said excitedly
Clara had always have a nack for clothes,shoes and other fancy stuff
"Didn't you say your credit cards don't work anymore" I reminded her
"Yh that's true, Alexia you gotta save me "
"Is it so compulsory?"
"Yes, is the very lifeline of my life if l don't have it first and another person have it before me l might die" she feign a stab to the chest
"Ah so melodramatic"
"Pretty please" she did her signature puppy eyes and l couldn't resist,she looked so cute
*Laughs* "fine"
"Yay, your the best"
"Ok ok can I have my sleep now"
"No we still have to talk about the party"
"What party?"
"Your birthday party, dummy"
I have totally forgotten my birthday was a few days away, l never celebrated my birthday after the incident that happened to grandpa
"Don't tell you have forgotten"
I smiled shyly
"Ugh, well whatever how did you want the party"
"Can we Not have a party, l don't like the unnecessary attention"
"Of course not, we are throwing a party whether you like it or not"
"Fine but keep it subtle, I don't want to seem like l'm showing off"
"Girl you are turning 22, of course you should show off is not everyday you turn 22"
"Clara"
"Fine if subtle is what you want, l guess we have to do it that way but l'm gonna be the one to organise the party"
"Didn't argue"
"Yay l got to call Naomi,we got a glamorous party to arrange" she ran out of my room
"Remember keep it subtle" I shouted after her.
The sound of continuous doorbell woke me up in the morning, l reluctantly went downstairs
"Yes" I yawned
My eyes still in a bit of a blur, that familiar scent of fresh scandal wood hit me, and I think it was because of the dizziness l was still feeling because I took a step forward to inhale that intoxicating scent
*Clears throat*
I snapped out from the daze and quickly looked up to the cold face of Asher and froze. What the hell was l doing? How could I fool myself like that? I wanted to crawl into a hole
"Where's She?" His icy voice interrupted my train of thoughts
"Who are we talking about again?" I pretended dumb because the last thing I do is sell my friend to this Robot of a brother
"Miss Williams, you know very much of what l'm talking about"
'Miss Williams? Since when did he get so formal, it kinda hurt
"I have no single idea of what you are talking about"
"Hey Alexia,who are you talking to this early morning.... Oh shit"
She ran upstairs and l could hear the clicking of her door
"Idiot" I inwardly scolded her
"Does Miss Williams still have no idea of what l am talking about?"
"Stop with the dumb surname" I whispered, l didn't realize l said that out
He raised a brow and l quickly corrected myself
" I mean, your sister have no interest of talking to you"
"Stay out of it" he warned
"And if l don't"
I glared at him. He wasn't the only one angry, l have every right to be angry at him
There was no way in hell l was giving up Clara like that against her will and what was his problem? He behaves like we are totally strangers to each other and l don't like that one bit
He remained silent
"Felix bring her" he told his assistant
"One more step and you won't like it" I threatened
Felix was confused and didn't know what to do while Asher just stared at me both of us unwilling to give up
"A, is okay l'll go with them" Clara meekly said
"You don't have to if you don't want to" I said never breaking eye contact with Asher
She touched my shoulders and l reluctantly look at her, she really wanted to go so l had to let her go
"You are welcome back anytime" I said then walked back to my room.
An hour later,in my office l was in deep thoughts about Asher
"Maybe l shouldn't have behaved like that after all she is his sister" I thought
But that doesn't make sense about his behaviour it was like he was cold and distant nothing like when that day back at his mansion or was it because of our argument? but he doesn't have any right to be angry if anything l should be angry with him but why do l still feel this way?
"Miss, is anything the problem?" Nadia said
"No, not at all" I thought for a while
"Have we have any feedback from the 'Nexus'?
"No not any at the moment though their assistance did come by this morning to see our progress but apart from that nothing"
"Oh"
"You sound disappointed"
"Do l? I didn't notice"
"If l guess correctly you are indirectly asking of Mr Slade not the company"
"Whaaat, that's not true" shoot was l that obvious?
"Whatever you say, but Miss if I may, l think you like Mr Slade"
*Scoff* "Me? Alexia?, Like Mr Slade that's impossible, l haven't like someone since as long as l can remember, what makes him so special now, l have no interest in him"
"You are still in denial Miss"
"I'm not" I pouted and folded my arms while she laughed
"Don't you have something to do"I reminded her
"Of course, excuse me" I nodded my head and she left
Did l really like Asher? Does he feels the same? As l pondered about it a familiar headache came in, recently l have been having this headache that wouldn't go away no matter how many painkillers l take
"I have to go for a checkup" I mumbled
Pulling up at the hospital, l went in for the necessary procedures and maybe l freaked out a little when l saw how huge the needles where, I hate the needles l waited patiently for the results when the doctor came in handing me the results and..... There was nothing wrong with me
"Are you sure doc? Cause l can personally tell you headache of mine are real"
"That's it Alexia, l can prescribe some special painkillers but there's seriously nothing wrong with you"
"Fine, thanks anyway"
"Is no problem, your grandpa was a good friend of mine"
I scratched my head " yeah l remember"
"You were a really naughty one at the time, you were brought in nearly everyday" he chuckled
"He was a good man"
"He was" I smiled sadly
"No need to be sad, he died a happy man and you made him proud with your progress, l heard your birthday is in a few days"
"Where do you heard that from?"
"A bubbly blonde girl have been announcing it for some while now online"
"Ah,yes" Clara wasn't kidding when she said she'll handle it
"Your invited too, l would really like to see one of grandpa friends at my party" I persuaded
"l'll think about it"
"Okay, once again thank you"I smiled and he nodded
I was about to get in the car when my eyes caught a familiar Silhouette not too far from me l was about to walk up to him when l stopped dead on my tracks when a girl ran up to him and hugged him tight then gave him a kiss on the cheek and he.... He smiled.. he actually smiled? He has never smiled at me before
I could hear my own heart breaking into pieces as l fought back the tears, l quickly turned back and practically ran to the car after driving for a few minutes l pulled over and just stayed in the car and let the tears flow, l angrily wiped it away
I promised myself l won't be so weak anymore but here l am crying like a baby. Why did I ever thought he liked me? Just because he saved me and treated me well doesn't mean he felt that way towards me maybe he just had pity on me because I was Clara's best friend, l was such a fool but that ends now. I dejectedly drove over to my house and locked it, l was in no mood for unexpected visitors today
