Chapter 4564: The World Shading Beast
Lin Moyu's question made Mu Tianze fall silent, as he recalled recent events, everyone he'd encountered, their moods and words, and all sorts of matters within the Central Region Divine Alliance.
After a moment, Mu Tianze said in a low voice, "Internal disputes in the Alliance have increased lately. A lot of people have opposing views, and where once they'd just argue, now they start fighting at the slightest disagreement."
"It didn't used to feel like much, but thinking back, there's definitely something wrong."
Lin Moyu said, "Soon, the living beings from the Primal Wilderness will cross the Desolate Scar and enter the chaos. At that point, it won't just be a war between the extreme domains, but a conflict between the Wilderness and Chaos."
Mu Tianze was clearly startled. The Desolate Scar not only separated the extreme domains, but also divided the chaos from the Primal Wilderness.
Beings from the Wilderness generally never crossed the Desolate Scar; on the contrary, it was usually the cultivators and beings of Chaos who entered the Wilderness in search of opportunity.
The Wilderness was enormous, even larger than Chaos, and inhabited by all sorts of living things far more numerous than those in Chaos.
These beings lacked rulers and lived independently most didn't even possess sentience. Add the barrier of the Desolate Scar, and their existence didn't threaten Chaos.
But if they were to charge en masse into Chaos, then trouble would truly begin war was inevitable, and it might last for years.
Mu Tianze took this very seriously. He knew that if this came to pass, it would be a huge crisis for all of Chaos.
He asked quietly, "Do you know why this is happening?"
Lin Moyu responded, "The reason is simple, but it's inconvenient for me to explain every Supreme knows. If you wish to know, you can ask them yourself."
Mu Tianze frowned, "Master has never talked about this."
Lin Moyu said, "That may be because your master has his own thoughts, or perhaps my answer isn't entirely accurate. But the impact is unavoidable. I think you should make preparations you may be able to reduce the damage."
Lin Moyu trusted that Mu Tianze knew what to do. There was no need for further advice after all, Mu had lived countless years and was a wily old fox.
Mu Tianze replied, "Thank you, Friend Lin. I'll make arrangements."
Lin Moyu smiled, "There's another matter, I need your help. I want to visit the Lower Domain, and I'd like to know about its situation."
Mu Tianze seemed ready he flipped out a jade tablet. "Here's information on both the Upper and Lower Domains. My master said you might visit both, and asked me to prepare in advance."
Lin Moyu checked the jade. The information on the Upper Domain was detailed, but very little on the Lower Domain, and much of it vague at best.
Mu Tianze said, "The Lower Domain is mysterious I've never been, and know very little. If you go, be cautious."
Lin Moyu was puzzled, "Aren't the Upper, Central, and Lower Domains allies?"
Mu Tianze said, "They are, but there's little day to day interaction. Upper Domain people are more sociable, so there's more contact. The Lower Domain isn't friendly to outsiders. Some have visited, but came back soon after."
"And, the environment in the Lower Domain… is extremely unfriendly to most people."
Mu Tianze put it delicately; in the data it says: 'The Lower Domain's dao is treacherous, the environment extreme, cultivation is difficult, and its treasures have hidden baleful force unusable.'
That alone would turn most cultivators away.
Why even go to the Lower Domain? For opportunity materials or treasures unavailable elsewhere, or perhaps for cultivation or profit.
But if neither goal can be reached, why bother risking it?
Only the treachery of the Dao remained unclear to Lin Moyu. He understood the rest.
He said, "I'll be going now."
Mu Tianze replied, "Allow me to escort you."
He led Lin Moyu to a great formation in the Alliance HQ, which had two passages: one to the Upper Domain, the other to the Lower.
Mu Tianze personally opened the tunnel to the Lower Domain and watched Lin Moyu depart, looking a bit somber he was taking Lin's earlier words very seriously, knowing he had to be ready for the worst.
Between the Central and Lower Domains there was no Desolate Scar, only a space barrier.
Without this, the Central and Lower Domains would be basically one.
By Little Tree and Chaos Child's account, in their era there was no concept of extreme domains just Chaos and Wilderness; Chaos was a single whole, without scars or divisions.
The Desolate Scar appeared later, after Little Tree and Chaos Child had perished, so they didn't know the details.
As the passage pierced the barrier, Lin Moyu sensed the definite presence of artifice this was a man made division.
"Could someone really have split the world into Upper, Central, and Lower Domains?"
Who could have this power? Not even a Supreme, surely.
Chaos Child said, "I sense a familiar aura in the space barrier Big Tree, don't you feel it?"
Little Tree replied, "It's the skin of the World Shading Beast."
Then they explained what the World Shading Beast was: in those days, there was a colossal creature of that name it could change size at will, round, square, or flat.
It controlled the power of space; spread out, it could cover unimaginable distances, once wrapping up three beings of the same tier by itself.
It could layer space endlessly, trapping others.
In that era of endless mighty beings, the World Shading Beast stood at the very peak Little Tree wouldn't dare claim he could best it.
When Little Tree and Chaos Child fell, the World Shading Beast was still alive.
But now, it appeared that the World Shading Beast had ultimately died, and its hide was used as a space barrier to separate the Central and Lower Domains.
The two were filled with emotion, but Lin Moyu pondered another issue: in the old days, most great beings fell before the appearance of the "Dao," which arrived much later. Every powerful being had a body what about the "Dao's" true body?
He'd asked Little Tree and Chaos Child before; they only knew of the "Dao," not what its real form was.
When it appeared, the "Dao" slaughtered countless powerhouses it killed Little Tree and Chaos Child before either saw its appearance or even knew what method it used to kill them.
For that, they both carried deep fear of the Dao.
Chaos Child sighed, "Even the World Shading Beast was killed… that thing is truly terrifying."
Little Tree said nothing he didn't want to comment further and avoided talking about the Dao.
Soon, they arrived at the end of the passage and Lin Moyu emerged into the Lower Domain.
What he saw shocked him: "So this is what it's like!"
