Chapter 4385: I Truly Didn't Wait Here in Vain
According to his memory, Chaos Child had swallowed the corpse of a powerful cultivator once before, but he was very picky about it at the time.
If it was below the Full Completion level, he found it too full of impurities and unworthy.
This time, Chaos Child took the initiative to devour this flesh and blood, and Lin Moyu of course wouldn't stop him let him eat if he wished.
Even if Lin Moyu wanted to make these beings into reborn minions, he only needed a few scraps.
Besides, not everyone could become a reborn minion; chaos beings and ancient desolation beings had already merged thoroughly, with both types of aura in a single drop of blood, impossible to separate.
After careful observation, Lin Moyu decided to abandon his plan to make them minions.
However, he still needed to save a portion of the flesh fragments to use as materials for corpse explosion.
Chaos Child and Little Tree both understood this and were sure to leave some behind for Lin Moyu.
Chaos Child plunged into the mountain of corpses and sea of blood, expanded his inner world, and his chaos and ancient desolation aura swirled out, turning into a vortex that devoured large amounts of flesh and blood.
The tremendous power radiating from these corpses didn't trouble Chaos Child at all. The same went for Little Tree; his roots thickened and lengthened, rolling up great mounds of flesh and rapidly absorbing it.
Little Tree had so many roots, his devouring speed wasn't slower than Chaos Child's.
"Hey, hey, hey, Fat Tree, stop hogging it! Leave some for me!" Chaos Child wailed, frantically trying to devour as quickly as possible.
But he simply wasn't as strong. Though his inner world had fused chaos and ancient desolation, its range was limited and couldn't match Little Tree's reach.
Little Tree ignored him and just sped up, swallowing away.
The two little ones fought over every scrap, battling fiercely the mountain of corpses and sea of blood visibly shrank.
As he devoured, Little Tree also set aside pieces for Lin Moyu, each sample coming from a different strong being.
Though each chunk still carried remnants of several strong beings, for corpse explosion, this didn't matter in fact, it might enhance the effect.
Chaos Child did the same, making sure Lin Moyu got some as well.
Once both little guys finished the entire sea of corpses and blood, Lin Moyu had six chunks of flesh in his hands.
Across countless years, many Full Completion experts died here, but their bloodlines merged, leaving only six useful pieces.
To Lin Moyu, every piece had the power to kill a top Full Completion expert.
He once had no means to deal with Full Completion experts, but now suddenly had six trump cards. That alone made this whole trip worthwhile.
Chaos Child came back complaining, "Fat Little Tree, you're unfair, stealing so much for yourself!"
About two thirds of the corpses and blood went to Little Tree Chaos Child felt he'd gotten the short end of the stick.
Little Tree ignored him, just quietly absorbing his new nutrients.
Despite swallowing so much, fully refining it into power would still take time.
It was the same for Chaos Child; after a couple complaints, he fell silent.
As he devoured, Little Tree explained, "About thirty Full Completion experts died here, most from chaos, a few from ancient desolation. Their flesh was crushed and fused by the Desolation Path, making it hard to separate."
Lin Moyu nodded, "The dangers of the Desolation Path truly exceed imagination."
Chaos Child piped up, "Exactly! The Desolation Path saves tremendous time, but, as always, there's no such thing as a free lunch there's a price for everything."
"And the Desolation Path leading to that place couldn't possibly be simple."
Lin Moyu didn't quite get what Chaos Child meant, and with only partial memory restored, he couldn't explain well anyway.
Little Tree clarified, "He means you can't get to that place by ordinary means only by a special Desolation Path, which is extremely dangerous. Ordinary Full Completion experts will die if they enter."
Chaos Child chuckled teasingly, "There are always some oddballs in chaos and ancient desolation with strange talents, able to find hidden treasures."
"Those types probably found this place by luck, and the way in but didn't expect to die in the Desolation Path."
There are billions of types of beings in chaos and ancient desolation not just numbers, but myriad species.
Many inherently powerful races have all sorts of unique talents some are born with a knack for hunting treasures.
They roam everywhere: the four extremes of chaos, the three domains, every cranny of ancient desolation, always in search.
Over eons, some always manage to discover a special place and then find the entrance Desolation Path only to die inside.
It all fits there's causality, and the logic is sound.
If not for the Calamity Crossing Boat, Lin Moyu himself would have perished in the Desolation Path.
"Do you know who set up that place in the past?" Lin Moyu prompted Chaos Child to see if he could recall more.
Given the Desolation Path's danger, Lin Moyu figured the place itself would be no safer.
Chaos Child shook his head, "I don't know maybe I'll remember when I'm there, but not now."
"Well, we may as well see it. We're here after all."
They had survived the Desolation Path; technically, they'd already entered the place Chaos Child spoke of just hadn't stepped in proper yet.
Chaos Child kept pointing the way, and the Calamity Crossing Boat flew forward. Lin Moyu kept the pace slow, in case of danger.
The area was vast; after three days' flight, Lin Moyu sensed something strange.
Though still in ancient desolation, the feel here was different from outside.
And there was no Ancient Desolation Divine Light whereas before, he saw it constantly, now there was none after three days.
Lin Moyu studied more closely and decided this space was artificially arranged an independent pocket.
And that lethal Desolation Path was the only entrance.
In ancient desolation, only two types could forge such a space:
Either a Supreme, or a being with power beyond the third tier, such as the Chaotic Desolate Ox.
Even someone like Tianxuzi or the Divine Phoenix Ancestor wouldn't be up to it they might be top Full Completion experts, but still a tier below.
Chaos Child kept guiding them; after ten more days' flight, he suddenly said, "We're here, we're here!"
The Calamity Crossing Boat stopped, but there was nothing ahead no matter how Lin Moyu searched, with eyes or powers, he found nothing.
Lin Moyu knew this was the second layer of the trap even if someone survived the Desolation Path, they'd likely never discover this hidden realm.
Over uncounted years, no one else ever did.
Chaos Child shot ahead into the void, emitting a brilliant glow his internal world emerged.
The space rippled like water, and suddenly a strange realm came into view.
"Hahahaha, I truly didn't wait here in vain there really is treasure!"
A wild laugh rang out Lin Moyu's face changed. Someone was hiding here.
