Rasque pushed herself out of her crater and approached Alix. She had an intense look on her face so Alix returned to her fighting stance. Her fists noticeably less sparking, probably a side-effect from her using the gloves three times in a row.
"I suggest you go all out when you face me because I have far more tricks up my sleeve. Unless you wish to go down as the instructor that loss to a new student?" Rasque continued marching over to Alix making Alix slightly nervous.
She was obviously bluffing! The gloves were the only trick she could pull out right now! Her spell-script has made some progress over the last few months but she would still need to catch her opponent off-guard to pull it off.
'Mo! Do you think you could distract her long enough for me to cast a spell?"
"Now?! I'm not even the slightest bit warmed up and ya want me to fight someone you couldn't even handle?! Does that make the slightest bit of sense to you!?"
'You are correct, that was a silly idea. Trouler?"
'Wree?!" Trouler snorted horrified.
'Right that was even worse, sorry. What's going on? This has never happened to me before. It's like my thoughts are all stacked in a pile and I can't seem to find a single reasonable one! Am I sick? Am I just tired? Maybe I am in the process of having a heart-attack?'
"Alix Ren." Alix jumped hearing her name called. She returned to reality and noticed that Rasque was standing before her. She likely had been standing there for a while but, you know, mind in a jumble and what not.
Rasque's smiled warmly at the girl. "You've proved me wrong. I apologize for my previous statements about your mother." Alix stood frozen.
She wasn't a hundred percent certain that she wasn't still lost in her thoughts. "What made you change your mind?" Alix asked cautiously. Rasque gestured to the wall that she was launched into.
"Right." Rasque clasped Alix's hands and began analyzing them.
"Where did you get these? I thought they were just a strange style choice at first but they are clearly not. Did you have a run in with some master Enchanter?" Alix shrugged still feeling slightly uncomfortable.
"That is one way that you could put it." Alix slowly pulled her hands out of the instructor's grasp. "I understand that you are very impressed by my techniques and methods but does what does that mean for my class?" Rasque suddenly realized that she had gotten off track.
She dusted her clothes off and stood tall like she had been at the start of the class. "Ahem! Right, your class. Seeing as Pugilists are usually trained by their families and any general hand-to-hand combat training would only hinder your growth. How would you feel about learning from me and Vance directly?"
"Sure that's fine. With that out of the way do you mind if I go to my next class? It would would be a waste of time for me to stay here doing nothing after all." Rasque nodded and stepped out of Alix's way.
"You're right. You may go." Alix nodded uncomfortably then rushed over to Mo and Trouler, grabbed them and left the room. Leaving the training field and Eric behind.
...
Alix slammed her head against the wall. "I can't believe that just happened. How could I get so riled up?"
"Well, I think everything went rather well all things considered. Plus she insulted your mother, anyone would lash out at that." Mo tried to comfort Alix with his words and she slammed her head against the wall again.
So things weren't going great.
"That was the perfect chance for me to get out of this stupid Martial University and move to the Spellcaster's University and I just blew it because she said that I was going to be just like that my mother. Who provokes someone like that, for no reason?"
Mo and Trouler glanced at each other but did not speak. Alix sighed. She was in low-spirits but she still had another class today. She backed away from the wall that now had a dent in it in the familiar shape of her forehead.
"Let's go to Inengway's class. It can't be any more upsetting than this." Alix lifted Mo and started to walk away.
'Ya know, every time that I've heard ya say that things have gotten severely worse."
'And?"
'Nothing..." Mo answered dismissively. 'Just an observation is all." Alix trudged all the way to Vance Warren's office and banged on the door until the man answered. He was clearly in the middle of a training session based on the sweat dripping down his body but Alix, in all honesty, did not care.
"Alix? What are you-"
"Where is Inengway's class?" Vance leaned forward slightly turning his head.
"Huh?" Alix rolled her eyes.
"You told me that I have a required class with Winston Inengway. Correct?"
"Yeah, but I don't see-" Alix raised a hand for the man to stop.
"You never told me where his class was. So take me to it."
"That's not really in my job description."
"And as a new student, needing to inform the principle that I don't know where my required class is isn't in mine. Yet here we are, so take me." Vance was beginning to think someone was playing some sort of joke on him.
"There should be a teacher ready to take you there at the end of class. Speaking of class, your first class is still ongoing so why are you here?"
"I finished." Alix answered flatly.
"Finished what?"
"The class. I'm done now so take me to my next one." Vance laughed now certain that this was a joke.
"Alix it has been..." Vance leaned back into the room checked the clock and leaned back out. "...barely twenty-five minutes since you talked to me earlier. It's impossible that you tested every single weapon within that time. Go back to class."
Alix nodded. "You are correct. I did not do that." Vance nearly fell at the girl's blatant honesty.
"See, now go-" Alix lifted her hand again cutting the man off. Did she think that she was the one in charge here?
"Instead of wasting my time trying out every one of those silly toys I just proved my fighting skills to Instructor Rasque."
"I find that highly unlikely, new student." Vance scoffed. This wasn't the first time a student came up to his door claiming to have bested someone. Though this is the first time one was bold enough to claim that they beat a teacher but still same category.
Alix rolled her eyes feeling very annoyed with the amount of time she felt like she was wasting. She was really planning for this interaction to be quick but it was taking far longer that it was supposed to.
Like most of her conversations.
"Look I don't have anytime to try to explain myself to you or to prove any points. Can you just hurry and take me to my next class or not? I am not going back to Instructor Bizen."
Vance found it difficult to understand why this girl that knocked on his door was losing her patience. Despite this, he decided to take her to the class.
"Sure, it'll be faster than trying to convince one of the Angel's Apostles to admit to a loss. Let's go." Vance walked out of the room and motioned for Alix to follow him.
Alix quickly followed the man. Happy to finally be done with this worthless conversation.
'So Rasque was in that same group as my mother huh? Neat.'
