The Sea of Flame, the largest region within the Chaos Demon Sea, was ruled by a single force—the Flame Temple.
This sea, though calm on the surface, concealed countless volcanoes beneath. When dormant, the waters gleamed like polished obsidian. But if a volcano erupted, even a powerhouse at the Death Profound Realm could be severely injured—or killed.
The Flame Temple's dominance wasn't just by might, but by the will of one man: Moro. As the wielder of the Flame Ancestral Talisman and a cultivator in the Reincarnation Realm, even Dao Sect's Ying Xuanzi dared not challenge him lightly.
As dusk fell, a crescent moon hung in the sky, scattering silver light over the Sea of Flame. The water shimmered like layers of fish scales beneath the moonlight—serene, beautiful, deceptive.
On a small island within this sea, a campfire flickered to life. Ye Feng sat beside it, calmly flipping a skewered fish over glowing embers.
"Feng," Ying Huanhuan asked, "the Flame Temple isn't far from here. Want to go take a look?"
"You're not in a hurry to revive the Lord of Devouring?" Ye Feng replied without glancing up.
"He's dead," Huanhuan said softly. "Only his residual consciousness remains. Ordinary people can't reach that place, so there's no rush."
She paused and added, "Besides, I still haven't grasped the mysteries of the three songs you taught me. You said I must truly experience the world—its joys, sorrows, life and death—to master them."
Ye Feng nodded and handed her a grilled fish.
She took a bite, and her eyes lit up. "Mmm. It's delicious. The taste is… special."
"Of course," Ye Feng grinned. "It's been years since I cooked myself."
Just as he raised another fish to his mouth, a faint sound interrupted him—a soft gulp.
"Come out," he said calmly.
A childish voice responded, "You already noticed me?"
From the branches above, a young girl in a green cotton robe dropped lightly to the ground. Her eyes—large and pitch black—were fixed on the grilled fish in Ye Feng's hand. Her delicate features, twin pigtails, and porcelain-like skin gave her the look of a well-behaved little doll.
"Do you want one?" Ye Feng asked.
"Mm." She nodded.
"Then come sit."
Without hesitation, she skipped over and sat beside him. He handed her a fish, and she dug in with joy.
"Delicious! Way better than raw fish!" she exclaimed between bites.
Ying Huanhuan stared at the girl, pausing mid-bite.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" the girl asked shyly. "Did I eat too much?"
"Hello… Ancestor of Life," Huanhuan said quietly.
"Huh? My name's Mu Lingshan," the girl replied, blinking.
"I wasn't sure before," Huanhuan said, "but your wounds healed too quickly. Now I'm certain. You are the Life Ancestral Talisman."
Ye Feng nodded. "She carries an exceptionally strong life aura."
Indeed, a vibrant, regenerative force pulsed from within the girl.
"Life Ancestral what? I don't understand," Mu Lingshan said, tilting her head.
"You are the Life and Death Ancestral Talisman," Ye Feng said. "Long ago, there was a Lord of Life and Death—one of the Eight Ancient Lords. She was the ancestor of the Immortal Holy Whale Clan. Severely wounded, her body was hidden deep in the Chaos Demon Sea after death."
Ye Feng continued, "A hundred years ago, during a tomb sweeping ritual, a glowing egg of black and white light was discovered where her body once lay. The corpse had vanished—and the ancestral talisman was gone."
"The egg… that was you."
Lingshan stared blankly. "You make it sound like a story."
"It's the truth," Ye Feng said. "You're not a pure-blooded Holy Whale. That proves it."
"I don't get it," Mu Lingshan yawned. "But I'm full and sleepy now."
She lay down beside the fire. As she slept, blue light radiated from her body. She was unknowingly circulating the Immortal Heavenly Transformation Technique. Her wounds healed rapidly under the technique's influence.
"I never thought we'd run into the Ancestral Talisman of Life and Death like this," Huanhuan whispered in awe.
---
Morning came quietly.
As sunlight broke over the horizon, Mu Lingshan stirred. Her eyes opened—dark, lively, and filled with new strength.
"Thank you for the fish, big brother. I'm leaving now."
With that, she shot up the tallest tree and, in a flash of rainbow light, vanished into the sky.
"She's in trouble," Huanhuan said with concern.
"Not just 'seems.' She definitely is," Ye Feng replied, already sensing it.
---
Elsewhere, in a vast open stretch of sea, hundreds of blood-red sharks circled tightly. Standing atop each shark was a burly warrior—members of the Blood Shark Tribe. At their center stood one small figure.
Mu Lingshan.
She hovered just above the water, her eyes wide with unyielding fire.
"Haha! Little princess of the Immortal Holy Whale Clan," one shirtless man sneered. "Be smart and come quietly. We're not known for mercy."
Ding… ding… ding…
A soft, melodic sound cut through the tension—a haunting, ancient melody.
The Blood Shark warriors stiffened.
"What's that sound?! Hurry! Grab her!"
One of the blood sharks lunged forward—only to trigger a hidden trap. The beast exploded in a burst of spiritual force.
"What?!"
Panic erupted. "It's a formation! We've been ambushed!"
No matter how they moved, the Blood Shark warriors found themselves bound within an invisible array. They couldn't retreat. Couldn't escape.
"Ambush From All Sides"—the name of the song Huanhuan had played.
It wasn't just music—it was a killing formation.
One by one, their movements triggered destruction. Energy surged like blades through the air. Within moments, all the blood sharks had been wiped out.
Then, like descending deities, Ye Feng and Ying Huanhuan floated down before Mu Lingshan.
"Big brother… big sister… it was you?" she asked, stunned.
Ye Feng smiled faintly. "Before you go, let me help one more time."
He placed a finger on her forehead.
Bo!
A flash of light surged.
The dark seal within Mu Lingshan's body—placed there long ago by the Blood Shark Tribe's elder—shattered. In its place, a fountain of life energy burst forth, far more vibrant than before.
