Chapter One Hundred Fifty-Three:
Taking the risk is the last thing in my mind but what should I do, this pain I'm feeling is too strong I can no longer hold on. I have no one to trust, that is why I should just agree to what the lady said but then Haimon just disagree with my decision.
"No." he cuts me off. "You don't know how dangerous they will do just to end this phantom pain you are experiencing right now. And I cannot take that risk so please forgive me if I will not agree." He seriously answered.
"But—ahhh!" pain it surged right deep in me and all the voices around me suddenly became farther and my eyes start to blur. I don't know how much longer I stand but slowly I feel light headed until everything that surrounds me goes dark.
…
"Shu!"
"Shuki!"
I quickly caught Shu Tokino before she even fell to the floor. When I saw my wife's appearance, I was so worried and immediately turned my gaze at Sai.
"What is going on with my wife?!" I asked while holding my wife's trembling body.
"The poison was already spreading through her very physical body."
"What poison?"
"I don't know exactly what it was but the thing is, it was all begins with her dream that she mentioned and all that I need to do is to enter her subconscious mind and find out what is going on with her spirit."
Reinhardt's Mansion
I can't explain how I feel, I feel like I'm drowning even though I'm not in the water. It feels like, I'm slowly sinking into a deep darkness and even if I kick hard just to get out of there I can't. I can't go up instead as I try harder to get up, the fastest I sink in to the deepest darkness. And I don't want this kind of feeling, as if I'll be confine in a deep and endless darkness that is almost choking out my entire freedom.
I tried to shout but not a single voice came out of my mouth. But I still continued my screaming and at the same time I kicked to lift my body as my hands tried to catch up with the only light I could see. Light that is slowly moving away from me that almost loses my hope until…
…
"Kanik!"
My eyes quickly open after I heard Medea's voice.
"Wh-what happened?" I asked between my breaths and I could feel all the sweat coming out of my body.
"You're having a nightmare!" She answered.
I look up to her surprised by what she just said and I try to remember what I dream of.
"I-I can't remember…" I said as I hold my head.
"Does your head hurt?" she worriedly asked.
"Yes." I simply answered.
"Then, wait here. I'll give you medicine." She said and stand up from the bed while I stay there thinking.
What is wrong with me?! I feel like I have to remember what my dream was but every time I try to remember it just gives me a bad headache. That I was every annoyed but I could do nothing about it.
…
"You are really doing your best being a kept woman, Ms. Medea." Suddenly Corvina came.
"Ms. Morana." Medea formally greeted her.
"Oh, so, you still have some manners left." She answered. "But anyway, I won't ask if Kanik is in his room because the looks of it…" she looks at her from head to toe then turning back to her face. "Well, you've served him so well that he couldn't throw you just like that. Anyway, I want to see him." she said and was about to go to Kanik's room when suddenly Medea blocks her way. "What!"
"I'm sorry. Sir Kanik is not feeling well now so it will be better if--"
"Are you preventing me from seeing my fiancé?" Corvina madly replied.
"No, I'm--" a strong slap was received by Medea that she didn't expect.
"Shut up you bitch! Now, step aside!" Corvina said as she pushed her by her hand that made her to fall down but someone catches her.
"Sir Maury." Medea said when she saw her savior.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine." She answered as she stands up straight.
"Huh! She was really the first one you asked instead of me--"
"Shut up!" Maury rebuked in a calm and low voice but the seriousness of his words was felt there. Corvina immediately keeps quiet then he stares back to Medea. "Sir Kanik called me to tell you that I will take care of him." he said.
"But he was feeling bad and he needed medicine for his headache." Medea worriedly answered.
"I already take care of it." he replied. "So, go home for now. I'll just let you know about his condition."
It took Medea long before she answered and agreed. "Fine. I'll go and wait."
"Good."
"I will leave him into your hands, Sir Maury." Medea answered before she went out.
"Huh! That bitch!" Corvina's furious reply as soon as Medea gone and the only two of them left outside the room of Kanik.
"Why do you have to call her a 'bitch' when after all the reason you married Sir Kanik is just because of business, right?" Maury answered. "So, who's the real 'bitch' between the two of you?"
"You!" Corvina was too furious after what she heard from him. "Yes I admit it's all because of our business the reason why we need to get marry. But you have no right to compare me to that whore! Ever!" she said before marching out of that place and never forces herself to meet Kanik.
Maury takes a very deep breath before he readies himself and enters Kanik's room.
…
"What you said to Vina was too cruel, Mau." I said as soon as he entered.
"She deserved it."
"Cold." I answered even the truth. "But you still love her despite of her attitude."
Silence.
