Chapter 5 - Midnight's Revelation

Rory stood beneath the old oak tree in the town square, her heart racing with anticipation. Liam was already there, his eyes gleaming in the moonlight like a predator waiting for its prey. The wind rustled through the leaves, casting eerie shadows on the ground, and Rory felt a shiver run down her spine.

"So, what do you know?" Rory asked, trying to sound calm, but her voice betrayed her, trembling slightly.

"I know that you're searching for answers about your family's past," Liam replied, his voice low and mysterious, like a whispered secret. "And I know that you're getting close to the truth."

Rory's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with possibilities. What could Liam possibly know that could change everything? She felt like she was standing on the edge of a precipice, staring into an abyss of secrets and lies.

"What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, as if she was afraid to disturb the silence of the night.

Liam smiled, his teeth glinting in the moonlight like a hint of mischief. "Let's just say that I have sources who have revealed some interesting information. Information that could change everything you thought you knew about your family."

Rory's mind reeled with possibilities. What secrets had Liam uncovered? And why was he sharing them with her?

"Tell me," she demanded, her voice a little stronger now, as if she was trying to assert control over the situation.

Liam leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper that sent shivers down her spine. "Meet me at the old mansion on the hill at midnight tomorrow. And come alone."

With that, he turned and disappeared into the shadows, leaving Rory with more questions than answers. She felt like she was trapped in a web of secrets and lies, and she didn't know who to trust.

As she walked away from the old oak tree, she couldn't shake off the feeling that Liam's eyes were still on her, watching her every move. And she knew that she had to be careful, for in the world of supernatural creatures, alliances could be deadly, and secrets could be lethal.
