Chapter 9 - The Oracle's Secret

Rory reached out a trembling hand and touched the crystal ball. As soon as she made contact, the room was filled with a blinding light, and she felt herself being pulled into a vision. The air seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly energy, and she could feel the weight of her family's history bearing down upon her.

She saw her ancestors, standing in a circle around a burning pyre. They were chanting in unison, their voices rising and falling in a haunting melody that sent shivers down her spine. And then, she saw the figure of a young woman, bound and gagged, being dragged towards the pyre. Rory knew instinctively that this was her ancestor, the one who had been accused of witchcraft and betrayed by her own family.

She felt a surge of anger and sorrow, knowing that her family's history was built on fear, superstition, and betrayal. She saw the tears streaming down her ancestor's face, and the desperation in her eyes as she begged for mercy. And then, she saw the moment when the pyre was lit, and the flames consumed her ancestor's body.

The vision shifted, and Rory saw herself, standing in the same circle, surrounded by the same ancestors. But this time, she was not bound and gagged. She was free, and she was holding a small, glowing crystal that pulsed with a gentle, white light. The Oracle spoke to her in a voice that echoed in her mind. "You have the power to break the curse, Rory. You have the power to forgive and to heal. Use this crystal to unlock the secrets of your family's past, and to bring peace to those who have been wronged."

Rory felt a surge of determination and hope. She knew that she had a long journey ahead of her, but she was ready to face whatever challenges came her way. She was ready to confront the darkness of her family's past, and to bring light and healing to those who had been hurt. And with that, the vision faded, and Rory found herself back in the room, holding the crystal ball and feeling a sense of purpose and resolve that she had never felt before.
