Chapter 60 - Raven

"So who poisoned her?" Sebastian asked crossing his arms.

"One of the servants. You're very good at finding culprits, you'd catch the person. The poison was actually meant for you. As a matter of fact, she saved you" Raphael said.

"For the first time in my life and for the hundreds of years I've walked this earth, I do not quite grasp what you're trying to say Raphael. She saved me?". A bemused expression painted a Leonardo Da Vinci classic on the king's face.

"Father Roberts will arrive in the morning. He'd explain more things to you. Father has revealed some things about you to him in a dream also." He paused for a brief moment to look at Mirabelle.

"Father wants me to heal someone else now. I'm off, your human physician Marcellus should be here in the morning too" A blinding white light flashed as Raphael vanished out of the room, so did his "supposed human" medical equipments.

Sebastian scoffed as he ran his hands through his hair, his eyes darting between the girl and the spot where the angel stood.

All Arch Raphael had to do was lay a hand on Mirabelle and she'd be fine and that was exactly what he did. Sebastian shook his head in utter disbelief as he remembered the medical equipments laying beside Arch Raphael the entire time as if he needed it.

Sebastian looked out the window and then up at the night sky, a wave of sadness enveloping him for a split second. Cold wind blew and Mirabelle shivered gaining his attention. Sebastian walked to her bed to place the sheets properly on her body when he saw a paper lying on the floor with words written in very dark ink. "He hasn't forgotten you".

Sebastian sighed and looked down at Mirabelle "You saved me?" He asked as if expecting an answer from her when he clearly knew she was deep in sleep. More questions filled his mind as he wondered what made God send Archangel Raphael to heal Mirabelle himself. His eyes glanced at the paper which was still in his hands and it slowly lifted to look at Mirabelle.

After some minutes of watching her, Sebastian exited the room allowing Nolan enter to rest for the night.

Walking through the halls which where lit by fire torches, the castle was completely quiet, only the clanking of shoes along the marble floors were heard as the king's right hand man joined him along the halls.

"I believe you have good news for me" Sebastian said.

"Milord, I searched the rooms of the kitchen staff earlier and found something suspicious." Benjamin raised a squeezed paper to the king's line of sight.

Sebastian squinted his eyes as he watched Benjamin slowly open the paper to see it contained a grey powdered substance in it; the quantity was little.

"Seems like it contains oak wood and hawthron bark milord" Benjamin explained.

"But not only that?" Sebastian asked making Benjamin nod before carefully placing the paper back in his pocket.

"You know who owns it?".

"Yes milord, the new servant".

A mischievous smirk appeared on Sebastian's face after hearing Benjamin's words.

In the servants quarters, a loud Bell was rung jolting all the servants to consciousness as the bell indicated it was daybreak. The servants were bustling and chatting with a sense of urgency as they began to allocate themselves into their various groups for work.

It was 5am and all the servants were expected to begin their work for the day.

After the interrogation of the servants and the death of one of them, Helena returned to her room and searched for the paper her Uncle gave her but didn't find it. She barely had any sleep the night before.

She asked her fellow servants who shared the room with her if they went through her things but both denied doing such.

Hands trembling, heart pounding, throat parched and mouth dry due to the sudden lack of her glands to produce saliva, Helena almost went bonkers!.

The night felt long and tortuous and now, it was finally morning.

She quickly began to search through her things once again, her fellow servants sharing the room with her stared at her like she had completely lost it.

One among them asked "What did actually you lose Helena?".

Pausing, the girl cooked up a lie "A-A gift from my mother while she was still alive. It's a necklace, it- it has an amethyst pendant and it's silver but it has deteriorated because it's old". She stammered.

Unbeknownst to them, a Raven was quietly watching, listening and looking innocent as it picked up the bits of their conversations.

"Ohh no bloody wonder you have resulted to panicking. We would help you search for it" the other said.

The raven watched Helena's precarious behavior for some minutes more before flapping it's wings in departure.

Benjamin quickly went to inform the king of his recent findings and with the king's permission, went to take action.
