Chapter 72 - Chapter 72

"Seraiya"

A voice suddenly echoed around the room.

It was the middle of the night, and Seraiya was deep asleep.

Images began to flash through her mind one after another so fast she couldn't even tell what they were.

"Seraiya" the voice screamed as objects around her room began to float up into the air.

Seraiya sat up her eyes still closed, still asleep. Something that felt like wind began to blow strongly in the room as she threw her arms up close in front of her face almost as if to block something.

"SERAIYA WAKE UP!"

Seraiya suddenly opened her eyes. The wind stopped and every that was once floating in the air fell to the ground. Seraiya put her arms down and let out a deep breath before finally noticing Maddie hiding on the floor right next to her bed.

"Maddie?" Seraiya questioned as Maddie looked up at her. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!" the girl yelled, as she stood up and stepped away from the bed. "Just a bad dream" Seraiya answered as simply as she could. "If that was the result of a bad dream I don't want to see what the result of a nightmare looks like" Maddie said with wide eyes.

"Why are you in here Maddie? Did you have another bad dream?" Seraiya asked.

"Yeah but compared to yours I think mine are nothing" she said looking around at the now messy room. "What did you dream of?" She asked. Maddie hesitated for a moment.

"I dreamt of the day I killed my girlfriend" she said honestly. Lieing would only lose her trust and she knew that.

"You killed your girlfriend?" Maddie asked sitting on the bed. "Yeah... I was under the control of this evil woman and she made me kill her which brought me back to reality, but the deed was already done" she told Maddie.

"Would you like to sleep in here for the rest of the night?" Seraiya asked. "Maybe we can keep each other from having anymore bad dreams" she said with a smile, and Maddie nodded.

The next day came and went. As did the day after that, and the week after that. A good 2 weeks passed before seraiya heard anymore of her family.

When one day she walked into her office to see her father sitting at her desk.

"If it isn't my darling daughter!" Daemon said as he spun in the chair. "And to what do I owe this unexpected visit?" Seraiya asked as she stood in the entryway of her own office and crossed her arms.

"I had hoped you would be happy to see me" Daemon said with a smile. "I was happy, than I saw you" she said coldly. "How cruel!" Daemon said dramatically as he stood up and walked around the desk.

"How has alpha life been treating you? still not bored yet?" He asked. "Its nice and peaceful exactly what I need" she replied. "That's not what I've heard" daemon said picking at his finger nail as he now leaned against her desk. "Why are you here?" She asked again more directly.

"No offense but if it's to act like a father there's really no point" she told him. "I didn't need you growing up and I don't need you now" she told him.

"Youve always been my favorite you know" he said now looking around her office. "Unlike your brother you were forced to grow up fast, forced to become independent to survive" he mentioned casually. "What's your point?" She asked.

"Though Damien is powerful in his own ways he's weak in many more, you say that if he becomes the tribrid the gods will manipulate him into creating chaos, well that's probably true" he admitted. "Its the perfect reason you should become the tribrid instead of him" he finally said.

"You want to help me?" She questioned. "I do" he answered. "Though I wasn't a very good father to you or your brother, I do like the world we live in and I would rather not see it destroyed by my own blood" he replied. "So what do you say? Will you accept my help?" He asked.

"I went to a seer" she said simply as she closed her office door behind her. "He said I have the key near me, a key I must protect with my death"

"I can't seem to understand what it means" she told him.

Daemon thought for a moment. "If I'm right and I usually am..." He said snobbly "it means that you have to die in order to become the tribrid" he said. "Most likely by sacrificing yourself for whoever or whatever this key is, which is more than likely someone close to you" he told her.

"But of course this is just speculation no real way to find out unless you die" he said.

"That's out of the question" she said simply as she sat down at her desk. "And it also doesn't make sense, I don't have anyone close to me who could be considered a key" she told her father.

"No one?" He asked. "Are you sure?"

"What about a certain young red headed girl with the eyes of a seer?" He asked.

"How the hell do you even know about her?" Seraiya asked standing up.

"I know more than you think" daemon told.

"Is there a possibility this child is your key?" Daemon.

Seraiya hesitated for a moment, clenching her teeth, not fully sure. "No." She said attempting to sound sure. "You better be or else it won't just be your life in danger" he said.

"If the triad finds out that you becoming a tribrid could be due to a little girl... Well they may not hesitate to take her and destroy her" he said.

"No they... They wouldn't hurt an innocent little girl" she said in disbelief. Daemon turned now facing Seraiya. "You were an innocent little girl when you were forcefully taken from your pack and brought to Russia to be sold on the black market were you not?" Daemon questioned.

Suddenly Michael ran into the office, completely out of breath. "Alpha" he said. "Michael what is it?" Seraiya asked with concern as she walked around the desk and daemon turned and leaned on the desk. "I-its Maddie" he said trying to catch his breath.

"She's gone!"
