Heading into the deep desert, Seraphine's vision was quickly consumed by an endless sea of golden sand.
So vast, yet so silent.
Chains of dunes rose and fell like massive ocean swells, weaving their way toward the horizon.
These dunes varied in shape. Some rounded like squat hills, others sharp and needle-like, towering like massive camel humps. Others were vast and gentle, resembling shimmering golden plains.
Their heights varied too, from mere dozens of meters to over a hundred.
WHOOSH!!
Gusts of wind swept across the ridges, kicking up curtains of dust that blanketed the sky and earth.
At a glance, it looked like a colossal, abstract oil painting.
Navigating these golden dunes, Seraphine occasionally spotted low-lying rocks and scattered gravel.
Faint depressions pockmarked the yellow sand around these formations.
These craters varied in scale, from small pits a few meters wide to expanses stretching dozens of meters.
Delicate patterns rippled around them, adding an inexplicable texture to the wasteland.
She knew these were Dust Craters, carved out by the sheer force of storms tearing through the dunes.
Ten miles, twenty, thirty, fifty...
After traversing a hundred miles, Seraphine encountered a unique geographical feature, the Desert Oases.
These lakes were fed by rainwater or underground springs, their surfaces as clear and still as glass.
Sparse vegetation clung to the shores, surviving stubbornly in the arid waste.
Under the blistering sun, the water reflected a blinding radiance, shimmering like brilliant gemstones.
Feeding these oases were desert rivers formed from converging springs, winding through the terrain. Their banks were lined with desert willows, pines, and cacti.
As the rivers cut through the dunes, the emerald water clashed against the golden sands, creating a striking visual contrast.
But what intrigued Seraphine more was the underlying principles that constructed these myriad forms of reality.
"The inability to pinpoint precise space-time coordinates suggests this might not be true reality, yet at the fundamental particle level and even deeper conceptual structures..."
Seraphine, striding forward, pondered, "It's indistinguishable from the material universe. The accuracy of this simulation surpasses even the Realm of Phantasm."
"A single server can monitor one-thousandth the volume of the Observable Universe," Seraphine mused. "So, how many servers did this Dimensional Artist create? And where do all these players come from? Parallel universes?"
Indeed, upon arriving in this so-called "Brilliant Games", her sensory precision had sharply dropped to the macroscopic level. It was her Transcendental Perception that, from the depths of her being, informed Seraphine of all this. Clearly, the unseen master of this game world couldn't completely obscure her divine abilities.
Furthermore, Transcendental Perception also told Seraphine a crucial piece of information: if she could unravel the secrets hidden within these Brilliant Games, it would greatly benefit her true form.
"Very well."
She smiled faintly. "Mr. Coo, let me truly experience just how intricate your Brilliant Games truly are."
Long after, in the depths of the vast desert, Seraphine finally spotted a small, desolate town, completely enveloped by a massive, illusory light screen.
She hastened forward, reaching out to touch the door-shaped insignia on the screen.
CLINK!!
After a sharp alert, passages of text formed from light particles flashed before Seraphine's eyes:
"Congratulations, you have discovered the instance [Mad Town].
This area is suitable for players Level 1-30 in a party. Please proceed with caution.
Instance Summary: Ah, poor old Mayor Jack has gone completely mad.
Whoever you are, please do not provoke him, or old Jack will turn you into a wasp's nest!"
"Select Difficulty: Normal."
"Proceed? Yes / No."
Without hesitation, Seraphine selected Yes.
In the next instant, the massive light screen vibrated violently and sucked her in.
BUZZ!!
The scene shifted. Seraphine materialized in a derelict apartment room reeking of scorched air.
"RAAAGH!!"
In the dim twilight of the room, a gaunt youth with a face full of jagged scars lunged from the shadows in a fit of manic rage.
Seraphine twisted her body, evading him with ease. She whipped out a childish-looking slingshot and fired a rapid volley at the back of the youth's head.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
Struck from behind, the scarred youth was instantly stunned, his health bar dropping a notch.
Seizing the opening, Seraphine stepped forward and pinned his neck with her boot, subjecting him to a ruthless barrage of slingshot fire.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Under the continuous impact, the youth's skull was quickly pummeled into a soft, mangled pulp.
His health bar bottomed out. As his body dissolved into smoke, a short baton etched with electronic circuitry dropped to the floor.
[ Rough Circuit Torch (Crude): Damage +3 ]
"Tsk. Better than nothing, I guess."
Despite her disdain, Seraphine slotted the torch into her equipment bar.
Next, she scavenged through the apartment, which reeked of a corporate drone's miserable existence.
[ Shoddy Combat Boots (Crude): Defense +1 ]
[ Rusted Iron Badge (Crude): Damage +2 ]
[ Tattered Hoodie (Crude): Defense +1 ]
[ Threadbare Undershirt (Crude): Defense +3 ]
[ Chewing Gum ×3 ]
[ Bandages ×2 ]
"This room feels like a basic starter kit. Only the iron badge is worth anything."
Regardless, she filled her equipment slots with the assorted junk.
CREAK!!
Slowly drawing back the grimy curtains, Seraphine gazed out of the apartment window.
Outside, on the dirt-strewn, weathered pavement, mutated townsfolk resembling zombies were staggering about in small clusters.
Coincidentally, a bloated middle-aged townsman with dull eyes and rotting flesh shuffled past the window.
Seraphine immediately flicked her fingers, lightly tapping on the glass.
TAP! TAP! TAP!
The fat townsman paused, slowly turning his head to look.
Upon seeing the smiling Seraphine, his gaze instantly turned feral.
"ROAR!!"
He lunged toward the window with a howl.
Without a word, Seraphine swung the circuit torch, slamming it into the charging man's forehead.
THUD!
His eyes rolled back as he collapsed instantly.
Wasting no time, Seraphine continued her assault with the torch.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
After five or six heavy strikes, the man's health bar bottomed out, granting her 30 experience points.
By now, several other twisted townsfolk had noticed the commotion, slowly shifting their gaze toward her.
Hindered by the narrow window frame, they could only deliver themselves one by one to Seraphine's waiting blows.
Not that a group attack would have mattered. With her infinite health, Seraphine feared nothing.
Moments later.
CRUNCH!!
A fanged brute dissolved into smoke.
Seraphine stepped out of the apartment, now wielding a heavy black iron rod studded with barbs and shattered glass.
[ 『 Great Demon King Seraphine 』 Level 5, Damage: 40 ]
[ Tungsten Alloy Mace (Normal): Damage +17 ]
[ Damaged Copper Badge (Normal): Damage +10 ]
A modest upgrade, to say the least.
"Hey."
Once steady, Seraphine tilted her chin, shouting a greeting toward a nearby gathering of crazed townsfolk.
"ROAR?!"
Over a dozen mutated denizens turned, their eyes flashing with malice as they bared their teeth and lunged at her with a collective howl.
"Heh."
Seraphine's mouth curled into a grin as she swung the heavy mace, charging to meet them.
After another interval.
CLANG!!
Discarding the durability-depleted, crack-riddled mace, Seraphine swiftly equipped a new weapon.
[ 『 Great Demon King Seraphine 』 Level 9, Damage: 64 ]
[ Heavy Power Sledge (Normal): Damage +37 ]
[ Bloodstained Silver Medal (Normal): Damage +30 ]
THUD! THUD! THUD!
Dragging the humming power sledge, Seraphine strolled through the streets she had completely cleared of life, finding the irony of it all amusing.
"How long has it been? This feeling of physical impact..."
She let out a satisfied laugh. "Refreshing."
As she wandered, Seraphine noted that this apocalyptic town was filled with derelict structures that still carried a distinct, futuristic sci-fi aesthetic.
Most buildings had collapsed or were reduced to ruins flickering with chaotic holographic images and crackling electrical sparks.
A few stubborn structures remained standing. Their walls, which functioned like electronic screens, still occasionally flickered with strange product advertisements. Much of their surfaces had peeled away, revealing a base of alloy mixed with fossilized materials.
After hammering her way through scores of mutated townsfolk, Seraphine entered the commercial district.
Once a bustling hub, it was now a sprawling wasteland of ruins.
Abandoned hover-cars were everywhere. Some were burnt-out husks of black metal, others were so severely rusted they were completely useless, discarded along the roadside.
WHOOSH!!
Sandstorms ravaged the commercial streets, the wind howling incessantly.
And in the middle of this vast storm stood an old-fashioned, Western-style saloon.
"The Instance Boss, Old Jack, is right here."
In a quiet alley further away, Seraphine tucked away her instance strategy guide, gripped the long handle of her power sledge, and stepped toward the saloon.
But the moment she cleared the alleyway, the dilapidated plaza surrounding the bar suddenly swarmed with hundreds of burly men in black, armed with electromagnetic submachine guns and black beer bottles strapped to their waists.
Each of these brutes stood nearly two meters tall, their cybernetic eyes glowing a manic crimson, their mouths filled with metallic fangs, completely mutated into inhuman freaks.
The moment they appeared, they howlingly unstrapped the beer bottles from their waists and hurled them with pinpoint accuracy at the approaching Seraphine.
BANG!!
As hundreds of black bottles shattered, a roaring inferno erupted, merging into a boiling sea of fire that completely trapped Seraphine.
WHOOSH!!
Instantly, strings of -5, -5, -10, -8, -10 began to scroll rapidly above her health bar.
Yet Seraphine's pace didn't falter. She continued dragging the power sledge, strolling leisurely toward the saloon.
The black-clad brutes roared in fury, raising their submachine guns and opening fire. BANG! BANG! BANG!
The damage numbers flickering above Seraphine's head became even more frantic.
-80, -90, -80, -80, -100, -70...
"Annoying."
Seraphine suddenly accelerated, charging through the hail of bullets toward the black-clad crowd.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
Closing the distance, she suddenly leaped into the air, putting her full strength into a swing aimed directly at the lead brute's skull.
CRUNCH!!
The man was slammed into the ground on the spot but he didn't die.
After all, there was a significant level gap between Seraphine and these thugs.
So, ignoring the dense storm of bullets, she swung the sledge in another wide arc, pummeling his head again.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
Weathering the bullet storm, she landed four or five consecutive blows until the stunned guard was pulverized and dissolved into a wisp of vapor.
Seraphine lunged forward into the vacancy he left, embedding herself within the monster horde.
RAT-A-TAT-TAT-TAT!!
Amidst the deafening roar of gunfire and the sight of thousands of bullets so dense they obscured her vision, she simply smiled.
In the next heartbeat, Seraphine spun in a wide circle, her sledge knocking back every mutated brute closing in on her.
Then, like a wolf among sheep, she rampaged through the crowd of hundreds, swinging her weapon with reckless abandon.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
The thugs fell one after another, and experience points flooded in.
DING! DING! DING! DING!
Level-up alerts chimed incessantly, but Seraphine didn't spare a glance at her player interface, continuing her joyous slaughter.
Only after the final brute collapsed with a wail did Seraphine stop.
THUD!
She stripped off her durability-depleted, tattered gear, replacing it with the fresh equipment dropped by the thugs. Only then did she nonchalantly open her player interface.

"Nuclear Engines? I thought they'd be huge. Turns out they're just low-grade nuclear batteries."
Seraphine chuckled as she picked up a discarded nuclear battery labeled "Lead Engine" and tossed it into her inventory.
That done, she opened the flashing system notifications.
CLINK!
"Congratulations Player 『 Great Demon King Seraphine 』, you have reached Level 10 and met the requirements for a Class Change. Please select your desired Class to unlock Class Skills."
"Hmm..."
Seraphine tilted her head in thought. "Defense, HP, Mana, none of that matters. All I need is to boost my Damage. An AOE skill would be a bonus; it would make farming mobs a lot less tedious."
As she contemplated her class choice, the doors of the cowboy saloon several hundred meters away slowly creaked open.
CREAK——
The sound of something heavy pressing onto rotted wooden planks filled the air, the floorboards groaning under the weight.
Seraphine looked toward the sound.
Squeezing through the narrow doorway was a three-meter-tall behemoth. He was a massive Cyber-Cowboy, his body a mass of rippling silver metallic muscle, with three pairs of glowing red cybernetic eyes and a shock of white hair.
The monster shouldered a gargantuan shotgun and stepped slowly out of the saloon.
"Mad Mayor Jack."
Raising her humming, flickering Plasma Arc Blade, Seraphine leaned forward and sprinted toward the Boss.
THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD!
The old cowboy watched the tiny figure closing the distance with cold indifference. With a flick of his massive hand, the giant shotgun erupted in a flash of fire.
BANG!!
Seraphine's vision blurred as the massive impact sent her flying into the air.
Seraphine soared through the air like a cloud.
SWOOSH——
She traced a long arc, landing over two thousand meters away.
CRASH!
After flattening a "lucky" townsman upon impact, Seraphine sprang back to her feet in an instant.
"My mistake. I didn't expect this Boss's attacks to have a knockback effect, and such a massive one at that. Charging head-on is a no-go; I need to flank him and use long-range tactics."
Determined, Seraphine set off again, sprinting back toward the saloon ruins in the commercial district.
This time, she would take a lateral approach.
...
BANG!!
Without a target in sight, the Cyber-Cowboy at the saloon doors suddenly raised his weapon and fired at a derelict shop two hundred meters to his right.
BOOM!!
CRASH!
The building disintegrated.
Amidst a storm of flying stone and metal fragments, a figure was blasted into the air by the heavy buckshot.
It was Seraphine, who had been trying to flank him in stealth.
SWOOSH——
Once again, she traced a smooth arc through the sky.
THUD!
Once again, she crushed another "lucky" denizen upon landing.
"Wall-hacks and aim-lock too?"
Seraphine stood up from the smoldering crater, muttering to herself, "Okay, Class Change first. I need actual skills. A base character isn't going to cut it against this old cowboy. But which Class... I need a strategy."
She turned her gaze to the [ Game Forum ] icon in the bottom-right of her vision.
Guiding the cursor, she clicked.
DING!
The display before her shifted instantly.
FLASH——
A dense swarm of menu icons erupted across her vision like a school of feeding fish breaking the surface.
[ Beginner's Guide ] [ Guild Recruitment ] [ Patch Notes ] [ Trading Hub ] [ Simulation ] [ Hall of Fame ] [ Teasers ] [ Quest Zone ] [ War Logs ] [ Class Strategies ]...
Spotting the [ Class Strategies ] icon, Seraphine immediately moved her cursor and clicked.
SWOOSH——
In a blink, her vision shifted to the next sub-menu.
Within this sub-menu, rows upon rows of square icons cascaded down the screen.
These icons were filled with countless player threads, analyses, debates, rants, and memes about every Class imaginable:
[ Analysis of All Class Skills ]

[ How to Become the Ultimate Healer ]
[ The Micro-Mage: A Path of Glo(ry) (and Erectile Dysfunction) ]

"..."
"Hmm? Pure Damage? Perfect."
Seraphine's eyes lit up, and she immediately clicked into the [ Demon Blade ] thread to study it.
After a quick scan, she selected another thread focused on boosting Character Damage and continued her reading.
Five threads, fifteen, thirty-five...
In just fifteen minutes, Seraphine had meticulously scoured through hundreds of similar posts.
Through these posts, she gleaned quite a bit of vital information about Brilliant Games.
"This game... has a staggering number of Class options."
Smiling, she finished sorting through the content in her mind and exited the [ Game Forum ] to make her selection.
Based on her research, the Server 375 she was currently on offered millions of Class varieties:
Biochemical Mummy, Galactic Druid, Light-Chasing Hunter, Hex Inheritor, Magnetic-Wing Spirit, Nebula Envoy, Medical Technician, Galactic Cartographer, Resource Harvester, Urban Planner, Data Analyst, Dreamweaver, Solar Apostle, Mist Hermit, Star-Net Hacker, Rift Sand-Daemon, Logistics Provider, Psychologist, Frost-Crystal Blademaster, Interstellar Knight, Molecular Manipulator, Rainbow Archer, Galactic Gourmet, Weaponsmith, Historian, Deep Space Probe, Galactic Miner, Mystic Scholar, Cybersecurity Expert, Slaughter Ascetic, Mass-Energy Balancer, Cold-Helium Siren, Smart-Ship Overlord... The list spanned every conceivable developmental path.
Some were support-focused, others dealt with machinery, genetic mutations, the occult, or direct manipulation of soul and consciousness.
According to the forum data, every existing Class, whether it was a public class available from the start, a rare class rewarded for completing quest chains, or a hidden class activated only within specific instances, provided a unique experience within the interstellar setting.
Furthermore, every Class branched into several, even dozens, of specializations, which further divided into multiple paths. Effectively, the millions of base Classes were multiplied into hundreds of millions of unique combinations.
All Classes unlocked Class Change at Level 10, granting an immediate Class Skill. Thereafter, a new Class Skill was earned every 10 levels up to Level 90, for a total of 9 skills.
After consulting the top thread and cross-referencing others, Seraphine made her choice:
Slaughter Ascetic Class , Frenzied Intent Specialization , Solitary Blade Path. In other words, the Demon Blade.
By choosing the Demon Blade, the player's Strength, Constitution, Agility, and Spirit attributes would only scale with Damage, HP, Speed, and Critical Hit respectively. Defense, Weight Capacity, Evasion, and MP would only increase through passive level-up gains.
The "Pure Damage" path was the most extreme progression within the Demon Blade specialization. It required completely abandoning growth in Constitution, Agility, and Spirit, dumping every single Free Attribute Point into Strength to achieve the highest possible Damage output for one's level.
"Exactly what I wanted."
She casually flicked her plasma blade, cutting down a stray mob that dared to interfere, before quickly clicking the Class Change button.
CLINK!
"Congratulations Player, you have chosen the [Slaughter Ascetic] Class."
CLINK!
"Congratulations Player, you have chosen the [Frenzied Intent] Specialization."
CLINK!
"Congratulations Player, you have chosen the [Solitary Blade] Path."
CLINK!
"You have obtained Level 10 Class Skill: [Blade Intent]."
CLINK!
"You have obtained Level 20 Class Skill: [Slash]."
Once the notifications finished, Seraphine opened her interface and dumped every single Free Attribute Point into Strength.
The display updated instantly:

Slaughter Ascetic Class Summary ——
In the primordial eras where technology could not rival the peak of mysticism, the greatest sages of countless civilizations understood the ultimate truths of ascension, decay, life, death, and the gears of the cosmos. They opened paths of contemplation, qi refinement, and alchemy. Among them, those who walked the razor's edge to study the arts of slaughter and destiny were the Slaughter Ascetics.
Class Skills Summary ——
[Blade Intent] (Level 10 Class Skill): The blade is my life. Wielding a blade increases the player's Base Damage by 1.5x. Passive skill. (Max level)
[Slash] (Level 20 Class Skill): Horizontal cut. Concentrates strength for a powerful strike (Base Damage x 1.5). Costs 30 MP.
"Perfect."
Seraphine flicked her Plasma Arc Blade, legs pumping as she sprinted once more toward Mad Mayor Jack at the saloon doors.
GROAN——
The old cowboy's mouth hung open, exhaling a scorching, foul stench. He stared coldly and raised his shotgun for another ruthless shot.
BANG!!
Missed!
Seraphine suddenly ducked low, weaving through the bullet storm in a wide S-pattern.
BANG!!
Another miss!
Seraphine, her expression calm, was closing in fast.
BANG!!
Seraphine tilted her head, narrowly dodging the fiery blast of buckshot.
In one smooth motion, she dropped into a half-crouch below the old cowboy's waistline, her blade flashing as she unleashed a flurry of rapid strikes against his metallic ankles.
[Slash]. [Slash]. [Slash].
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Sparks showered the ground.
"ROAR!!"
Howling in pain, the old cowboy raised a massive boot and tried to stomp Seraphine into the dirt.
But she had already rolled twice across the pavement, slipping like a ghost behind the Boss's back.
She began to [Slash] the giant's massive buttocks.
[Slash]. [Slash]. [Slash].
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
The metallic impacts rang out as sparks flew.
After landing three hits, Seraphine refused to be greedy, immediately repositioning.
BOOM!!
Stone fractured and dust billowed.
Relying on her superior combat instinct, Seraphine dodged the old cowboy's desperate ground-slam elbow strike in the nick of time.
As the Boss struggled to regain his footing, she lunged onto his back, targeting the base of his skull and spamming her [Slash] skill.
[Slash]. [Slash]. [Slash]. [Slash]...
"Boss is at half health. Almost got him," Seraphine mused, her movements frantic and violent while her face remained impassive.
Just then, the prone Jack let out a deafening roar: "ROAR!!"
CRACK!!!
The air suddenly expanded, the shockwave blasting the off-balance Seraphine several hundred meters away.
Then...
SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!——
Around the slowly rising, crazed Mayor, hundreds of black-clad brutes materialized out of thin air, forming a defensive perimeter.
CLANG... CLANG CLANG... CLANG CLANG CLANG...
Simultaneously, a grand, operatic BGM erupted, filling the area with an epic, theatrical score.
Mad Mayor Jack roared at the sky, his entire body bathed in a sudden, intense crimson glow.
"...It even has background music?"
Seraphine watched the raging Cyber-Cowboy from a distance and laughed. "Phase two, I guess."
To the sound of a heroic, swelling choir, the Mayor's arms suddenly exploded. From the sparking stumps, two pairs of triple-barreled shotgun-arrays, six massive barrels in total, burst forth.
He had become a Six-Gun Cowboy.
He leveled all six barrels at the nonchalant Seraphine.
The surrounding black-clad brutes raised their electromagnetic submachine guns and opened fire in unison.
A torrent of lead instantly engulfed Seraphine's position.
RAT-A-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!!!
Weathering the bullet storm, Seraphine resumed her serpentine evasion, all while staying alert to the old cowboy's intermittent knockback shots.
The difficulty of the boss fight had spiked.
BANG!!
Dodged.
BANG!!
Dodged again.
Seraphine tumbled and wove through the mob, finally slipping beneath the Boss's feet once more.
She began: [Slash]. [Slash]. [Slash]...
"ROAR!!"
The old Mayor roared in fury, leaning down to use his six massive barrels as clubs, smashing them toward the ground.
CRACK!!
Evading the impact, Seraphine leaped into the air, using the heads of the surrounding brutes as stepping stones. She landed two [Slashes] on Jack's back before rolling away without a moment's hesitation.
Amidst the chaotic swarm, the torrential rain of bullets, the manic roars of the giant cowboy, and the swelling, epic score, Seraphine moved like a legendary hero, slowly but surely chipping away at the Boss's health.
Finally, she landed a ruthless [Slash] directly across the old cowboy's crazed face.
"ROAR...!!!"
With one last howl of grief and rage, Mad Mayor Jack collapsed heavily into the ruins of the saloon, "bursting" into a pile of loot.
The remaining black-clad brutes froze simultaneously, dissolving into thick, gray-white vapor that vanished instantly.
DING... DING... DING...
She gained several levels at once.
CLINK!
"Congratulations Player 『 Great Demon King Seraphine 』 for the First Clear of this instance. Rewards: Double Boss EXP, Double Instance EXP."
"Hmm..."
Seraphine stood in the middle of the chaotic battlefield, chuckling softly. "Soloing an instance is indeed a bit of a chore."
