Chapter 739: Achieving Spiritual Array Mastery
This fragmented space was vast, seemingly endless. At its edge, Qing Yanjing cleared her throat softly.
It was the first time in her life she had been called "teacher," and the title felt a bit strange.
"Although your time studying spiritual arrays has been short, your progress has been remarkably fast. This shows that your talent in this field far surpasses that of ordinary people," Qing Yanjing said.
"While I'll be teaching you, it's really just guidance along your path to mastering arrays. Spiritual arrays at the grandmaster level are far more intricate than those you've encountered before."
As she spoke, intricate spiritual seals formed in her hands, coming together to create an array that she used as an example.
Xiao Ze watched intently, focusing entirely on absorbing every detail of her demonstration.
Though Xiao Ze had the Ancient Wisdom talent to help him master spiritual arrays quickly, the field itself was vast and deep. He had been learning and exploring on his own for some time, but compared to Qing Yanjing, who had the benefit of an ancient lineage, he was still lacking in depth.
As he studied, Xiao Ze couldn't help but marvel again at the power of his Ancient Wisdom talent. The innate feedback he received often led to extraordinary experiences.
For example, when developing the Venomous Plague Body, the feedback had subjected him to excruciating pain, forging unparalleled control over his desires. And when the Bodhi Ancient Tree had activated, the feedback combined with its ability to grant a hundred lifetimes of experiences had profoundly enhanced his Ancient Wisdom talent.
Now, the talent had evolved to the point where it rivaled if not exceeded the value of gold tier abilities. It amplified not only his understanding of spiritual arrays but also battle arrays and alchemy.
Because of this, Xiao Ze chose not to bind Qing Yanjing's gold tier talent to himself. He already possessed comparable abilities in the field of spiritual arrays, and binding her talent would have been redundant. Instead, he preferred to use the binding slot to unlock an entirely new path of growth in the future.
Still, the guidance from someone like Qing Yanjing was invaluable. Her expertise filled in gaps in Xiao Ze's knowledge, helping him advance rapidly.
After some time, Qing Yanjing stepped back, impressed by how quickly Xiao Ze absorbed and applied what she had taught him.
"You really do have exceptional talent," she said with a mix of admiration and disbelief. "Now, try setting up a grandmaster level array yourself."
Xiao Ze nodded, retrieving a bronze scroll that contained the blueprint for a grandmaster level spiritual array. As he studied it, Qing Yanjing gave him space, turning her attention to a damaged array scroll Xiao Ze had given her earlier.
While the damaged scroll was incomplete, its insights were still valuable for her growth as a spiritual array master.
Nearby, Xiao Ze closed his eyes, visualizing the steps Qing Yanjing had demonstrated. With a flick of his sleeve, countless spiritual seals emerged, weaving themselves into a complex structure in midair.
This was the Gengjin Sword Array, a pure offensive formation known for its overwhelming sharpness.
As the array took shape, its power distorted the surrounding space. Even the highly durable fragmented space, resistant to the chaos storms outside, began to crack under the array's might.
"Go!" Xiao Ze commanded.
A platinum blade of energy shot forth, slicing cleanly through a distant mountain peak. The energy didn't stop there it continued for tens of thousands of meters, leaving a deep scar across the landscape.
"Impressive," Xiao Ze muttered. "This kind of offensive power could threaten even upper tier Earth Sovereigns."
A flash of light appeared nearby as Qing Yanjing returned, having sensed the array's activation.
"You've already completed a grandmaster level array?" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with astonishment.
"I've been close to breaking through for a while now," Xiao Ze said modestly. "With your guidance and the help of this array scroll, the breakthrough felt natural."
But just as he finished speaking, his expression shifted. He raised a hand, causing the array to fade into the void.
"What's wrong?" Qing Yanjing asked, instantly alert.
Xiao Ze's voice was steady but firm. "We're not alone. It seems someone else has entered this fragmented space."
Trusting Xiao Ze's senses, Qing Yanjing immediately began preparing a spiritual array for defense.
Elsewhere in the Fragment
Three figures emerged from a tear in space, their appearances disheveled. Their auras were wild and beast like, giving the impression of humanoid predators.
"Damned chaos storms," one of them grumbled. "We've finally made it to this fragment, but our supply of chaos crystals is nearly gone."
"Enough complaining," snapped another. "We need to gather more crystals quickly and search for any legacies while we're at it."
The leader of the group paused, his gaze narrowing. "Wait... someone else is already here."
"What?!"
"If they've taken all the chaos crystals, we'll be stuck here," one of the others growled. "We can't let them escape. Let's stop them now."
Their eyes gleamed with malice as they turned toward Xiao Ze and Qing Yanjing's direction.
