It was just past twilight when I sent a message through our magical link, summoning Solution to the royal castle. She arrived silently, stepping from the shadows as if she had always been there. Her golden eyes gleamed with obedient curiosity.
"You called for me, Lord Alex?" she asked, bowing slightly.
"Yes. I want you to bring Clementine here. Tell her we're making a trip to Nazarick—and not alone."
Solution blinked once, then glanced toward Renner, who stood not far behind me, arms crossed, face calm but eyes alert.
"As you command," Solution said, and vanished just as effortlessly as she had come.
Renner watched the empty space where Solution had been.
It wasn't long before a familiar voice echoed through the hall. "Finally! Took you long enough to invite me back into the madness."
Clementine strolled in, cocky grin in place, wearing her usual sleeveless tunic and twin stilettos at her sides. Her eyes flicked over to Renner, sizing her up with open amusement.
"Well, well, look who's decided to tag along," Clementine said with a smirk. "Did the princess finally get bored of playing nice?"
Renner, unfazed, tilted her head with a smile. "Did the lunatic get a collar, or are you still pretending you're the dominant one in this arrangement?"
I sighed. "Enough. Both of you, follow me. We're leaving."
With a wave of my hand, I activated the teleportation spell.
The scenery shimmered and twisted around us. In an instant, the elegant decor of the Re-Estize castle faded, replaced by the cold and ancient stone of our hidden base. It wasn't grand by Nazarick standards—just a fortified chamber beneath a mountain—but it held what I needed: the portal to the Great Tomb.
And one guardian to watch over it.
Demiurge stood calmly by the activated gate, his hands folded behind his back, his smile polite as always. His crimson glasses caught the glow of the portal, giving him a more devilish appearance than usual.
"Welcome back, Lord Alex," he said, bowing. His eyes then slid toward Clementine, who gave him a lazy wave, and finally rested on Renner.
He studied her a moment too long, head tilting slightly. "This one… she wears the skin of humanity well."
"Smart as always," I said. "Demiurge, meet Princess Renner of Re-Estize. And you know Clementine."
"I do." His voice was smooth, curious. "And this princess—does she come as a guest… or a student?"
"That depends on her," I replied. "For now, they're both here to see Nazarick."
Demiurge bowed slightly. "Then I shall keep the gate ready for your return."
With a nod, I stepped through the shimmering portal, the familiar energy wrapping around us like silk.
We arrived in the throne room of the Great Tomb of Nazarick.
The grandeur hit them immediately.
Polished black marble stretched for what seemed like miles, lit by floating chandeliers of magical flame. The walls were etched with intricate gold patterns, and the throne at the far end radiated dominance with every inch of its obsidian frame. Even the air was heavier, steeped in authority.
Clementine let out a low whistle. "Damn. I thought you were exaggerating."
Renner said nothing, but her eyes were wide. She was calculating, absorbing every detail, every sign of power and wealth. The scale of the room alone likely crushed whatever expectations she'd clung to.
Just then, a familiar voice rang out with grace and power.
"Lord Alex, you've returned."
Albedo glided across the floor, radiant as ever in her white gown, black wings twitching slightly as she approached. She stopped before me and bowed deeply, her voice soft but thick with restrained affection.
She looked up, her eyes flicking from Clementine to Renner.
"These two are… companions?"
"Guests," I corrected with a small smile. "They're here to sightsee."
Clementine grinned. "Is she always this formal?"
It seems Albedo didn't like that, as she gave Clementine a look.
"She's the Overseer of the Guardians," I said, half to Clementine, half to Renner. "She runs this place when I'm not around."
Albedo's gaze lingered on Renner a moment longer. Her smile didn't waver, but the curiosity in her eyes sharpened.
"And how long will our guests be staying?"
"That depends," I replied, glancing at Renner. "But for now, show them hospitality. I want a supper arranged after the tour. Something fitting."
Albedo bowed again, her voice like velvet. "As you command, Lord Alex. I shall make the preparations immediately."
As she turned to leave, Clementine nudged me with her elbow. "I can see why she's loyal."
Renner remained quiet, her gaze never leaving the vast throne that sat at the end of the hall. There was no mask now—no coy smile, no sweet tone. Just raw thought, barely concealed behind her golden eyes.
"You weren't lying," she said softly.
I stepped beside her. "No. I wasn't."
She turned to me, her voice a whisper. "So this… this is what real power looks like."
I met her gaze and smiled.
"Welcome to Nazarick."
