Shalltear
While Alex was on a date with Mitsuri in Nazarick, Shalltear was on fire searching for him in the Demon Slayer world.
Shalltear stood amidst the eerie silence of the battlefield, her crimson eyes scanning the desolate area. The air was still thick with the residual traces of Alex's magic, a reminder of the super-tier spell he had unleashed here.
The ground bore scars of an intense battle—deep craters, burned earth, and shattered debris scattered everywhere. Her pale fingers clenched tightly around her parasol, her mind racing with frustration.
Why would Lord Alexander use super-tier magic in such a weak world? she wondered, her thoughts spiraling. The idea that someone here could have pushed him to such lengths was both infuriating and terrifying.
"Lupusregina," Shalltear called, her voice sharp with agitation.
"Yes, Shalltear-sama?" Lupusregina responded promptly, though her usual cheerful demeanor was nowhere to be seen.
"Can you sense anything unusual in this area?"
Lupusregina closed her eyes for a moment, concentrating. "The air is thick with Lord Alexander's power, but... no, nothing beyond that. It's as if whoever was here has been completely erased."
Shalltear's grip on her parasol tightened. That was expected. Lord Alexander's strength was unparalleled; whoever dared to challenge him would have been annihilated. Yet, the fact that he had used such a spell hinted at a deeper mystery.
"Should we inform Nazarick that Lord Alexander might be... missing?" Lupusregina suggested cautiously.
Shalltear's crimson eyes flared with annoyance. "Shut up, Lupusregina. I was the one who accompanied Lord Alexander to this world. If he is missing, it is my duty to find him."
Lupusregina nodded, lowering her gaze. She understood Shalltear's frustration—she shared it. It was their sacred duty to serve and protect Lord Alexander, and the mere thought that they had failed him gnawed at both of them.
Shalltear turned her attention to the nearby train. It stood eerily silent on the tracks, its once-majestic form now a broken shell. Even from a distance, she could sense the lingering traces of demonic energy within it.
"This train..." Shalltear murmured, narrowing her eyes. "It was possessed by a demon, wasn't it?"
"Yes," Lupusregina confirmed, stepping closer. "But it's dead now. Lord Alexander must have dealt with it."
Shalltear frowned, her mind working rapidly. This demon must have been insignificant—hardly a threat to her lord. But if that were the case, why was Alex here? And why use his power in such a way?
"Lupusregina," Shalltear said suddenly, her voice commanding.
"Yes, Shalltear-sama?"
"I don't care what method you use—resurrect the demon that possessed this train. I need answers."
Lupusregina hesitated for a moment, unsure. "Shalltear-sama, are you certain? If Lord Alexander deemed this demon unworthy of further consideration—"
"I'm not interested in your opinions right now," Shalltear snapped, her eyes glowing with irritation. "If there's even a sliver of a chance that this demon saw something—anything—I need to know. Do it."
Bowing her head, Lupusregina obeyed. She raised her hands, chanting an incantation in a low, melodic tone. The air around the train began to shimmer, and dark energy coalesced, forming into a faint, grotesque shape. Slowly, the demon began to take form—a pitiful, incomplete resurrection of what once was.
The figure of Enmu appeared, his body barely holding together, wisps of his essence flickering like a dying flame. His face contorted in agony as he realized what was happening.
"You... brought me back?" he rasped, his voice weak but filled with pain.
Shalltear stepped forward, her parasol resting lightly on her shoulder. Her expression was cold and unyielding. "Speak, demon. What did you see before your death?"
Enmu laughed weakly, his voice tinged with madness. "What... did I see? I saw death. He—he killed me. That's all there is to it."
Shalltear's eyes narrowed. "Don't play games with me. You were destroyed by Lord Alexander, weren't you? Did you see anyone else? Hear anything unusual? Speak, or I'll make this far more painful for you."
Enmu's face twisted in terror, but he managed a defiant smirk. "You think I'll tell you anything? Do your worst."
Shalltear sighed, her patience wearing thin. "Very well. You leave me no choice."
With a wave of her hand, Shalltear cast a memory extraction spell. It was a brutal form of magic, designed to tear through the mind of the target and retrieve any information hidden within. Enmu screamed as the spell took hold, his body convulsing as Shalltear delved into his memories.
The process was excruciating, even for a demon. Enmu's fragmented memories flashed before Shalltear's eyes—scenes of the train, the battles, and finally, the moment Alex killed him.
But just as Shalltear was about to dismiss him as worthless, she caught a glimpse of something else: another demon, standing in the shadows nearby, observing the chaos.
Shalltear ended the spell abruptly, letting Enmu's pitiful form collapse to the ground. He was barely conscious, his body trembling from the ordeal.
"Another demon..." Shalltear murmured, her mind racing.
Lupusregina stepped forward. "What did you find, Shalltear-sama?"
"There was another demon nearby," Shalltear said, her tone thoughtful. "A stronger one. He was stationed close to this area, likely monitoring Lord Alexander's actions."
"Was he working under Muzanette's direct order?" Lupusregina asked.
"Most certainly," Shalltear replied, her lips curling into a cold smile. "And if he was here, it means Muzanette is aware of Lord Alexander's presence in this world. She's likely already plotting against him."
"What should we do now?"
Shalltear glanced at Enmu's broken form, her expression one of disdain. "Dispose of this trash. He has no further use."
Lupusregina nodded and incinerated Enmu with a quick spell, his remains scattering into the wind.
"We will go to Muzanette and bring Lord Alex back."
