Chapter 293 - Chapter 292 - City of Yokohama 02.

[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]

Third Person POV

Japan.

...

...

"This..." The Japanese army soldiers were stunned as they witnessed the buildings being demolished by the giant's body flying after receiving what seemed to be a punch so fast that not even they could see the attack. They only saw Severus landing with the dust rising through the streets where the giant had disappeared.

"Am I dreaming...?" another murmured, almost like a small breath.

"He must be one of those wizards who are helping the country..." said the pilot.

Certainly, the magical world had turned everything upside down in the past few days, and there hadn't been an even worse reaction due to the even more serious crisis with the giants in Japan. Still, knowing that there was a group of people living in a hidden world, with magical powers spoken of only in stories, left the entire world unsettled.

In any case, the magical world was still a great mystery to everyone, and those soldiers believed that, as surprised as they were by the display of strength, that man — whoever he was — must have come from that hidden world.

More than that, he was the first to injure a giant, for all reports stated that no one could harm them, much less deliver a punch capable of making them fly like dolls.

Severus, unaware of the soldiers' train of thought inside the helicopter, ignored the destruction and turned his gaze back, slightly irritated with Steve, who looked like a reporter already announcing the "scoop," taking several pictures at that moment.

'This guy is a complete mystery... How could someone so powerful stoop to this?' Someone who could even challenge him... Severus really didn't understand what went through that man's head, nor did he know what he was. Unfortunately, he couldn't get answers for that now.

His gaze returned to the giant, who was trying to stand amid the debris while the dust still obstructed his vision, but now Severus knew he was ready to fight again.

There was an even larger property, several destroyed cities and, certainly, all of them would be in the same condition as that one, with many survivors taking refuge. He couldn't be in all of them at the same time to help, so the first thing he did was allow his shadow to begin expanding.

"Go," he said. Immediately, more than a thousand shadows roared at his feet, advancing in all directions.

"So he sent the shadow army to the cities... Interesting," Steve commented, still taking more pictures.

The giant began to emerge from the rubble, but a line so fast that he didn't even notice passed through his neck before he could react. Severus simply cut off his head with a single dagger strike, making his massive body collapse with another huge crash, this time dead.

The soldiers in the helicopter were even more shocked, while Steve seemed excited, focused on his camera.

Severus returned to the street and walked toward him with a piercing look, while Steve wrote frantically in his notebook, observing the destruction.

"The first giant being killed in Yokohama."

"The Monarch of Shadows sends his army to help all of Japan."

"The first of them to fall — a sign of hope..."

He murmured loudly before looking at Severus with a smile.

"Which title do you like more for the second article?"

"Second article? And what would the first be?" Severus scoffed.

"Oh, you'll like this one," he said, as if absolutely certain. "'The Strongest Man in the World? Severus Prince Takes Down the First Giant with Just One Punch'." He made a gesture with his hands imitating an explosion. "A boom that's going to sell like never before!"

Severus only snorted, glaring at him, still ignoring the helicopter above them.

"What kind of joke is this, Mr. Vujin? You still haven't answered my earlier question: who are you?" Severus said.

"Don't be so dramatic. I'm just a reporter from the Pasquim," he said, giving a wink.

Severus merely shook his head. Talking to that man was a waste of time — at least now he had an entire country in ruins to deal with.

"Just don't get in my way. Otherwise, the giants won't be the only ones receiving my punches," Severus muttered with a real threat. The man, however, didn't seem to care, continuing to write.

Severus vanished with Apparition, summoning his staff as he appeared in a corner of the city: a stadium with a baseball field that had not yet been destroyed by the giant. There, at least eight thousand people had gathered, and all of them appeared before him.

They looked quite frightened by the situation. A moment earlier, they had been hiding in houses, alleys, or makeshift shelters; others were injured inside collapsed buildings, unable to get out. And suddenly, they found themselves there, gathered. Severus looked at them and sighed. He used his magic to speak Japanese with another spell he had just created.

"Attention, everyone," he began, making all of them look up in surprise as they saw a man floating above them, his voice echoing perfectly clearly. "I brought you here for a reason. With the giant being a threat, I didn't want anyone caught between me and the creature. It has already been defeated and you should have heard the crashes... With no more threat in the city, I'm now going to request that rescue teams be sent as quickly as possible. In the meantime, let me take care of your injuries." He raised his staff.

Before anyone could say anything, a light exploded from the sky and soon an angel manifested with six wings, resembling the architect's statue — only much brighter, made solely of golden light. Severus's Patronus was no longer white; it had become a shade closer to gold.

And without needing any command, in the next moment, the wings spread open while the crowd reacted in various ways to that divine manifestation. The wings shone, and suddenly they began releasing golden particles directly over the people, healing them little by little, while the crowd murmured in shock.

A flash caught his attention, and Severus looked toward the stands, seeing a man taking pictures. He couldn't help but clench his teeth, irritated. That guy was following him — and he didn't even know how the man reached these places. He couldn't sense any kind of magical locomotion, nor see distortions in space... nothing. He simply appeared.

Severus continued healing the crowd until the angel finally disappeared, leaving the people in better condition.

"And now I will call for help. They will come here soon. It's better if you don't leave."

"But I need to rescue my uncle!" a man shouted.

Severus just shook his head. "Unfortunately, I brought every living person from the city. Either your uncle was taken out of the city... or, unfortunately, he is dead."

The man paled. Severus, however, could not be anyone's psychologist at that moment. And he disappeared the next instant. The warning had been given — now they would do whatever they wanted, while Severus had other priorities.

"Hey, where is he?" one of the men in the helicopter murmured, searching for any sign of Severus. But all he could see was the giant lying on the ground.

"Who knows... but what really matters is that someone finally defeated that monster!"

"That man was one of those wizards, wasn't he? I didn't know they were that powerful."

"From what I heard, not even the wizards managed to do what we saw today. I also heard they were immune to almost all our weapons. That guy must be the only one... I wonder who he is," another murmured, looking at the fallen giant's body — without noticing someone sitting beside them the entire time with a staff in hand.

"That doesn't matter now..." Severus's voice emerged among them, making everyone immediately look at him in fear.

"You... you're him..." one whispered, trembling in surprise and caution.

"I'm not here to hurt you. I just want you to do something," Severus began.

"And what would that be?" another murmured very carefully, nearly drawing his pistol out of fear.

"Just send rescue teams to the baseball stadium in the city center. I transferred every living person from the city to that place. Bring helicopters and assistance — the system will need a few hours," Severus replied, sounding almost like a threat demanding they act immediately.

They looked at each other before turning back to nod — but Severus was no longer there when the helicopter began moving away from the area.

Severus approached the giant's body, touching the torso without the head.

"Arise," he said as a command.

The giant began erupting into black shadows, rapidly expanding and recreating its form atop the corpse, until finally a forty-eight-meter-tall giant made only of darkness emerged.

"This is interesting," Severus commented, making the giant enter his shadow the next moment.

He drew back his staff, bent his knees, and shot forward, soaring toward the next city — where the second giant was already in the area. He could reach even more cities from there, but he would deal with that last giant first; afterward would come the situation of the other cities.

The giant was walking down the empty street when suddenly it stopped and looked up, seeing someone flying and staring at it with a staff in hand. There were some helicopters in the city as well, but this time they were monitoring other places, searching for survivors — not the giant itself, which wasn't hard to spot, so they had left it there.

Severus remained there, staring at it. The giant began to stare back, a defiant glow in its eyes. It leaned its leg forward and suddenly roared like a titan, drawing the attention of the entire city with its echo.

Severus stayed calm and began to raise his staff. The sky above the city started to change. Black clouds quickly formed — only in the region where Severus was — but the giant didn't seem to care.

There was no fear or concern. The giant had resisted every attack so far — it wouldn't fall now. And as Severus completed the spell, he swiftly pointed at the giant, and a dragon-shaped bolt came from above, striking it right in the center.

Immediately, the flash drew attention, an enormous boom echoed throughout the entire city, far louder than the giant's earlier roar.

Even the helicopters searching for people quickly looked toward that area, seeing the black clouds and the lightning exploding after the giant's roar, shaking the whole city.

Severus simply watched, still floating in the air, while half of the giant's torso had vanished, the remaining skin tinged red from burns, before it fell to the ground.

"Arise," he simply said.

Once again, the giant's body burst into black aura, and another shadow giant took shape with its full body. Severus made it disappear, pulling it into his shadow, and returned to the city while casting another spell everywhere, teleporting all the people still alive — along with their animals — to a more open area.

He appeared there and cast his Patronus once more, healing the people. Then he informed the army in the helicopters to bring help and that the city was secure. No one understood anything: he simply did everything even faster than before.

And then he vanished from the city, searching a new region for the next giants. His gaze did not turn toward Tokyo, for the city was already isolated, and there was a monster there in the middle of it, unmoving. Severus would leave that one for last — first, he would help the people around the country.
