"If they are not here, then who pays your salaries?" Kiyomi asked in earnest.
She could see their dedication, and that was the kind of shit that came with loyalty and way too much trust in a working system. This was not okay, and it wasn't supposed to be normal.
Yet as Kiyomi looked at the servants of the dying household and a few in-house guards who had come to see her, she wasn't sure why this was unsettling this much.
It was as if she had been caught doing the one thing she had sworn not to do, and there wasn't a valid enough punishment, so she had to try and live it out with her guilt tethering her to the world of the living.
Maybe she was overthinking everything because they didn't do anything to her, or maybe because they looked abnormally fascinated with her. She had never met a group like this one, and if anyone didn't know better, they would assume Kiyomi was their boss.
