Chapter 15 - New items, and the village of swordsmen

(A/N: So, I've gone back and read the whole book and I have come to the realization that I Suck at writing in the third person. I leave out details and make a lot more errors than normal. So from now in its first person. I also realized I forgot a few items so I'll be bringing those into play here. I will also be going back and fixing all the errors I can find in the previous chapters, so if you see a spelling or grammar error please let me know.)

—Carter POV—

"Huh?! You're leaving already?" Nami asked with a hint of disappointment as she and her sister walked with me from the village after restocking some food.

"Yeah," I said "I have to get back to my bounty hunt."

The two girl's had grown somewhat attached to me so seeing me go was a saddening experience.

Seeing their somber expressions, I got an idea. "Hey, don't be sad." I said, resting his hand on Nami's head.

I then slipped the [ring of the rock] and the [binding ribbon] off myself and healed them out to Nojiko and Nami respectively.

"Here" I held out the items for the sisters to take and they did. "These are special items because they were created by a special devil fruit." I gestured for them to put them on.

Nami slipped the ribbon onto her arm and Nojiko put on the ring.

I turned to nami first. "That ribbon will make you just a touch more agile, should help with your little hobby." I said, giving her a wink.

She blushed with the realization that I had discovered her little hobby of larceny. (Seriously. She had like nearly two million buried stashed away.)

 "T-thank you"

I smiled and turned to Nojiko next. "That ring should make your body a bit tougher. Should be a little help with helping the people you care about."

She gave me a light smile and nodded.

Not really knowing what to say from there I improvised.

"Tell you what. I've given a few of those items to other people around the east blue, and the grand line too. When you think you're ready, find the other people that have items like that. Then come find me in the grand line." I finally declared. 'Now I just gotta give a few system items to the rest of the strawhats. That oughta bring them together.'

The two girls looked at each other and nodded.

"Alright! We will!"

I chucked and bid them farewell. As I flew on Justice a notification made itself known.

[Quest progress: Defying fate

-Change the future of all five original members of the strawhat crew. (1/5)

Quest progress: Defying all fates

-Change the future of all members of the strawhats (1/11), change the future of Ten key figures related to the strawhats (antagonist or allies) (1/20)]

I smirked at my progress. The rewards for the tasks were too good to pass up. I took a quick look at a map Nami had given me. There were five strawhats in east blue: Nami on the Conomi islands, Luffy on Dawn island, Zoro in Shimotsuki village, Usopp on the Gecko islands, and Sanji on the Baratie.

"Alright! Time to give the strawhats some loot."

But in order to give them something, I needed something to give. I had the starlight gem necklace from the original item boxes at the start of my bounty hunt. But I needed more. Luckily, I had received 3 tier three item boxes and I got three items per box so I had a good chance for some more boost items. And even if I didn't get any, I could use a few shop points to buy some random items tokens and hope for the best. I'd basically be gambling.

'Wait A damn minute. Did I Inherit the Senju clan's gambling addiction!?'

Thinking about it closely, I decided to put the thoughts aside for now. 'I can worry about becoming a Tsunade another time."

"System open my item boxes"

[Opening item boxes…

Box 1:

Feather of the angel: removes devil fruit's weakness to the sea and sea stone

Reject dial: a shell that absorbs and magnifies concussive force, the higher evolved form of the impact dial from the sky island of Skypiea.

Eisen dial: a shell that emits an amorphous "iron cloud" capable of changing shape to the user's wishes. The clouds have the strength of iron with the weightlessness of air.

Box 2:

Dagger necklace: increases the wearer's skill in cutting with a blade

Feather off the angel: Removes devil fruit's weakness to the sea and sea stone

Large Diamond: a diamond the size of an apple

Box 3:

Adam tree clipping: a small clipping of the treasure tree adam

Unbonded Vivre card: a paper card tied to the life force of whiver's DNA It is infused with. Currently required DNA for bonding.

Turtle pose: a unique form of compass that points to the ghost island of "mecha island" ]

These were decent items, as expected of their 3. 'Dials are an interesting concept to work with but I had too few of them. The diamond was good as raw material for something I guess. The viver card could come in handy soon. And the turtle pose to mecha island is a good reward. That island is actually a giant island turtle and it has a lot of high class tech. But I only managed to get a single boost item.'

"While I'm at it. System, open the random skill token and otherworldly item token."

[spinning random skill token…

Result:

Perfect memory: the user gains the ability to recall anything and everything they have ever seen or learned.]

[spinning otherworldly item token…

Result:

Stone of Gelel: a stone born of crystalised crude senjutsu chakra from the world of naruto, the stone allows anyone who has the stone within their body to gain near instant generation, and a massive energy boost.]

"YES!" I shouted, startling Justice, causing her to dip a bit in the air. She turned her head around and glared at me but I apologized and she just huffed and kept flying.

The reason I was so excited was that this was the solution to one of the most infuriating issues I had found in the world: the absence of natural energy. It's not that there is no natural energy in this world, if there wasn't then my sage body wouldn't be enhancing me at all. There was just so little that even if I gathered natural energy for a few hours I would only be able to use sage mode for about thirty seconds before running out.

But with the stone I now had an infinite source of natural energy! I could finally use sage mode. Not only that, but the already insane regeneration speed I got from the original infusion with Hashirama's cells would be even further enhanced. Even if I got the Ace treatment from Sakazuki, the wound would heal in a few seconds max.

Now that I possess the Perfect memory skill, I could recall the strange techniques used with gelel as well but those could be studied later, especially the beast mode.

But I decided that for now to keep the stone for later, and I sealed it inside my inventory for safe keeping.

Right now I had to choose my next straw hat to visit. Seeing as the item I just got enhanced, cutting the choice was obvious. I was heading to Shimotsuki village. Not a bad place to go honestly. I might be able to get my hand on some decent techniques.

It took about a day to reach Shimotsuki village from the Conomi islands. Along the way I encountered the tulip pirates. Their captain Yurikah, had a 2.1 million berri bounty so they were swiftly dealt with by Justice.

Arriving on the island where Shimotsuki village was located, Ken island. I placed Kubikiribocho, Shichiseiken, and my gauntlet into my inventory. Carrying so many weapons could be perceived as a threat and I wasn't here to hunt pirates.

But after a day we arrived at the small village of swordsmen. We landed on the shore and I had Justice go and hunt while I made my way to the village. I got a few stares from villagers working in the crop fields that surrounded the small settlement but I ignored them.

My target was the massive eye-catching Dojo on the top of a large hill. Or rather, the green haired thirteen year old currently developing his three sword style.

Arriving at the gates of the Dojo I was greeted by the master of the dojo himself Shimotsuki Koushirou.

"Welcome young marine. I am Koushirou Shimotsuki. What can the Isshin dojo do for you today?" the swordsmen asked with reasonable caution.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Shimotsuki-sama, my name is Carter Davil. As for what you can do for me? Not much, I'm just passing through this village on a bounty hunt. Although I thought I could pay your dojo a visit. I'm a bit of a swordsman myself and I was curious if there was anyone here interested in comparing techniques." I responded semi-truthfully.

"Oh, well then I may be able to teach you a thing or two." he said, glancing at the two swords at my hip.

"Thank you, although I assume that I have to prove myself worthy of knowing the techniques passed down from the land of Wano." I casually revealed my knowledge of his family's origins.

Koushirou's eyes narrowed slightly at my mention of his family's origins and I could see the subtle grip on his sword tighten.

"No need for any hostility Shimotsuki-sama, I am simply an admirer of old legends. I recognised your name as the same as the "Dragonslayer" Shimotsuki Ryuma. I have no ill intentions. I am here to learn."

Koushirou's body visibly relaxed but he kept a cautious gaze. "I see. In that case I would be happy to teach you once you pass a test, however I'm sorry to say that only one technique made its way here from the land of Wano when my father migrated here."

I gave a small bow. "Thank you, and there is nothing to worry about. A single technique from the Shimotsuki clan's records is worth more than anything I can give."

"Well then, follow me." he said as he led me into the dojo. I kept pace just behind the man as he led me to a small courtyard. I noticed there were quite a few dojo students starting to gather.

"Who's that guy with sensei?"

"I don't know but he's wearing clothes like a marine."

"Why do you think he's here?"

I stopped listening to the students when my eyes landed on the person I was looking for.

Standing off to the side accompanied by only one other boy. Was a head of moss green hair looking at me with interest.

'Found you.' I slightly smirked as I pulled my gaze back to Koushirou. "So what is the test to learn the technique?" I asked.

"The test is quite simple, draw your sword."

'Ah, so that's how it is.' I thought as I gripped Akuma-Ketsujin's hilt.

To weaklings, strength, skill and other things need to be confirmed through actions and attacks. But for a truly skilled swordsman, Just by seeing your opponent draw their sword and sensing the aura that surrounds them and their sword. That is all it takes for a truly skilled swordsman to recognise skill or potential.

And that was what Koushirou was looking for in me right now. The mark of someone worthy of this technique.

Even though I was not a true swordsman, I relied mostly on my skills and devil fruit with the sword being more of a support than anything, My bond with my sword runs deep. Cursed swords form deep bonds with masters they acknowledge.

And as Koushirou found out from the sheer presence my sword and I had. The cursed great-grade blade had long since grown fond of me.

The man's eyes went wide as the blade was freed from its scabbard and the deep red aura erupted from the blade.

Although the students at the dojo were too weak to see the aura itself they still felt the terrifying pressure of the demonic blade.

"So…" I brought my blade to rest on my shoulder. "Do I pass Shimotsuki-sama?"

For a moment the man just gawked at me. But seeing his student also staring at him expectantly he pulled himself together. "Yes, you pass. The technique is your's to learn."

"Well then, just show me the technique and I'll learn it from seeing you do it."

He looked apprehensive about my claim to learn it just by watching, however this changed when the sharingan spun to crimson life in my eyes.

"I have special eyes, I can learn anything with a glance."

I could tell Koushirou was slightly unnerved by my eyes but he compiled all the same.

"Watch carefully," he told me, drawing his blade and ordering his students away. And man, I was glad I heard that advice. Because the technique was truly that amazing to see. My sharingan captured every last twitch of his muscles, every last minute detail. And only one thing came to mind as he slashed his sword.

'Perfection…'

"Ittoryu Ogi: Sen no sekai!"

The slash itself did nothing as it was only a demonstration, however I recognised it near immediately. 'A more refined version of Zoro's secret three sword style technique: sanzen sekai.'

It made sense that this attack was the starting point forZoro's technique. Koushiro must have taught him the technique and he adapted it himself. And it was quite fighting that the technique used by Ryuma, Zoro's ancestor became Zoro's years later.

"Thank you for the technique, Shimotsuki-sama. I will use it well-"

"Hey you!" my thanks was cut off by a sudan shout.

I turned my head to the sound only to find little Zoro with his three swords at his side, ready fro battle.

"Fight me!"
