Clearly Raven had no idea he was on the verge of a heat. Sage gritted his teeth desperately, trying to hold on to his sanity. He was failing.
"Do you have an inhibitor on you by any chance?"
His voice came out gravely and husky to his ears.
"Hummm.."
Raven's sing-song hum made Sage shiver with anticipation.
He squeezed his eyes shut his fists clenched hard enough for his knuckles to whiten. His breath was becoming uneven with every inhale, Raven's intoxicating scent filling his lungs torturing him.
"…ah, um, no."
Raven finally finished his thought.
Sage swallowed his throat dry, feeling far too tight. With shaky hands, he rummaged through his backpack finding the cylindrical applicator. He pulled it out and, with one quick, fluid motion, pressed it into his thigh, releasing its dosage.
Raven just looked on his lips stretched into an amused smile.
His black hair swayed as he shook his head a slight chuckle leaving his pink lips.
"Okay, that was pretty impressive. Never would have expected you to be such a gentleman."
Sage frowned at the alluring omega having been quite thoroughly offended.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
His voice was still husky making Raven feel all giddy in very wrong ways.
Raven nibbled at his bottom lip trying to focus on his words through the fog constantly invading his brain.
Focus Raven, he scolded himself in his head.
His eyes narrowed at Sage trying hard to remember what he just said.
Sage on the other hand was feeling quite taken aback at being glared at like he had insulted Raven instead. An apology was ready on his tongue when Raven beat him to it.
"Sorry but what were you saying. My damed brain keeps misfiring."
Raven said with an awkward smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Sage covered his face with his hand hiding his laughter from Raven. His shoulders shook slightly. Which Raven didn't see or choose to ignore, Sage wasn't quite sure.
"You clearly need a safe place to go and soon. Want me to escort you to one of the facilities on campus?"
At their campus, select sections of the dorms were designated for seclusion for those going into heat or rut. They would sign in with their student ID and would be automatically locked in for the duration of their cycle. Food and water would be provided through a sealed compartment. Once opened from one side, it could not be forced open; it required a specific code to open again. Once open the other side inside the room would shut and lock.
Thus when the coat was re-entered it was sealed from the outside and the tray of food would be delivered to the person from the other side.
Raven chuckled not a hint of humor in his voice.
"No, I wouldn't be caught dead in this school's facility. But thanks anyway. I'll figure something out. See you around."
Raven waved his hand as he turned to leave heading for the school entrance. He fished out his cell, already searching for an omega driver, when someone grabbed his arm and gave it a slight pull.
Raven almost dropped his phone in the process. He glared up at a frowning Sage who was clearly confused by his own action.
"Uh. … wait here I'll be right back." Sage said before turning and began to jog, freezing after a few steps.
"I mean it. Don't move." With that final warning, he jogged away. Complete trusting that Raven would listen and wait for him.
Raven on the other hand was too stuned and stood rooted to his spot furious at being ordered around.
Who the hell did this alpha think he was ordering him around? How dare he? That pumps ass so fucki g full of himself. The gall of that man. Well okay so right now he wasn't ALL there in the brain department but still, he could mostly function. So there was definitely no way he was just going to stand here and wait.
Raven was so busy fuming at the strange Alpha that he unexpectedly waited in the exact spot not having moved an inch.
He was simply standing there his arms crossed a scowl fully plastered on his beautiful features.
By the time Raven decided to move Sage had already returned.
Those on campus who recognized him scurried away not wanting to be in the line of fire of the fierce omega.
Those who did not, wonder what or who put such a gorgeous omega into such a foul mood.
His beautiful shoulder-lengthhair swayed in the breeze like waves on an ocean. Large almond-shaped sapphire eyes moist with anger shimmered in the light of the bright sun. Swollen red lips pouted, smooth alabaster skin stretching over his puffed-out cheeks. A slim neck flowed down to the gentle slopes of his shoulders.
His slender frame was a feast for the eyes, small gentle curves rolling into a slight curve of the hips accentuated his slim waist. The way he sat on his hip gave a nice view of his rounded bottom.
A few thirsty alphas gulped silently their eyes hungrily feasting on Raven's form. Even those who feared a lashing form that sultry yet sharp tongue watched him with lust-filled eyes.
A few had a mind to approach to see if they could lighten his mood in any way.
Just as one brave soul decided to step forward a car screeched to a halt in front of Raven.
Who threw up his arms in the air in exasperation. No one could hear what he was saying. Not a single person was prepared to see an annoyed Sage get out of the car holding the door open as his chofur awkwardly got out hesitated then returned to his seat behind the wheel.
Sage stood there one arm stretched out holding the door open.
There was clearly a standoff between the two. Finally Sage was the one to cave in the battle of wits, shocking everyone once again he strode towards the omega who was attempting to back up, only to be caught.
Sage stood behind the spitfire of an omega slowly but surely pushing him towards the open door. The omega finally reluctantly sat in the car. Sage leaned in than slipping into the car the door slamming the next second.
Raven was fuming the whole time glared at anyone and everyone. But the obvious no one couldn't see him behind the tinted window.
"Hey get in," Sage called out as the car came to a stop.
Raven threw his hands up in frustration.
"Why the hell did you make me stand here!? I already booked a driver so I don't need your help."
"Okay then cancel it."
Sage ground out as he slipped out of his car. He suddenly became fully aware of how many people were staring at them.
Hopefully, he could get this fisty omega to cooperate without much of a fight. But to his credit, he wasn't going to budge a single step without some umm encouragement. Sage slipped out of the car and in a gentlemanly manner opened the door.
"Come on get in, unless you like the attention." His brow raised looking at the crowd that was slowly growing.
Raven took a quick look around managing to spot a few glares in the crowd.
"There's a highly secure Haven a short drive from here. You can stay there."
Raven's brows knit together. How was he supposed to afford that? He was bearly hanging on as it is. He was a scholarship student at the university and had no extra savings for a lavish Haven to splurge on. Where could he get the money for a day let alone a full week? He would have to take out a loan for that and there was no way there would be time for it nor was he willing to jeopardize his financial safety for it either. He made up his mind he wasn't going and that was that.
He would just go to the facility that the government provided, there was one about a five-minute drive from the university.
"Raven come on your putting yourself in more danger the longer you play this game."
Sage's calm demeanor was starting to crack. He was currently battling with himself as he was trying to help where help wasn't wanted, which was ludicris no to mention confusing how his mind would tingle with paralyzing fear when Raven was out of his sight.
It made no sense not to have actually met this infamous omega. But the few short minutes of interaction between them had him scrambling to get Raven to a safe place no matter the cost. Not to mention this prickly omega was completely infuriating.
Raven just bit his bottom lip his eyes glaring at Sage shaking his head sending his glossy hair into the wind carrying his sweet scent to those around.
A few alphas immediately got the scent of his heat intoxicating as it was. A couple stepped toward Raven but froze the moment their eyes met Sage's.
Sage's jaw ticked he had had enough he stalked Raven who backed up but he wasn't fast enough.
He needed to get this dangerous omega off the streets before someone jumped him, himself included.
Sage slipped around his small frame more agile than Raven's reaction that have been dulled by his quickly approaching head. Sage slowly directed him towards the waiting car.
"I promise to pay, without expecting any compensation so just get in the car okay? Please. Hmm?"
He coaxed Raven his voice dropping a few octaves as he leaned down his pheromones now mingling with Raven's.
Sage felt Raven cave as he took the last two steps to the car and slid in himself. His glare bore holes into Sage's skull as he buckled the seatbelt and closed the door.
Released washed over him as the engine purred its wheels rolling away from the curb. Sage forced himself to focus on the road hi
smirk slowly stretchinghis lips as he leaned against the back seat. He took a quick peek at Raven's side profile. A sense of satisfaction washed over him satisfying something deep inside his soul.
Rave was too busy looking out the window to see Sage's small tug turn into a full-blown grin. Looks like he won this war.
But what did he want was it that he wanted to talk to Raven about was? For the life of him, he couldn't remember.
Sage could feel Raven slowly relaxing his prickly thorns, falling away. His sweet scent slowly occupied the small space feeling like the cruelest torturer made by Sage's own hands.
Perhaps it wasn't all that important.
