Zixin didn't walk very far.
After putting enough distance between himself and that strange man, he found a massive tree growing deeper within the forest. Its trunk was so wide that even three people probably wouldn't be able to wrap their arms around it together, and several thick branches stretched high above the ground.
He looked around once to make sure no one had followed him before climbing up.
Finding a thick branch near the top, Zixin settled himself against the trunk and stretched his legs out carefully. The branch was wide enough that he could lie down without worrying too much about rolling off in his sleep.
For tonight, this was going to be his bed.
It wasn't comfortable, but he had slept in worse places during the Beginner's Trial.
Zixin folded one arm beneath his head and stared up through the gaps between the leaves.
The familiar night sky he had grown up seeing was nowhere to be found.
There was no moon.
Even the stars looked different.
