Chapter 21 - Raze part 2

Everything felt as if it was in slow motion for Skoll. The incoming attack was slow enough for him to react in time. He grabbed the perons wrist and flung them over his shoulder and into the ground, leaving a large crack in the concrete.

The figures hood comes off and Luna can finally see that it's wearing a black helmet just like Skoll. The only difference is that it has the number five etched into it.

'Don't tell me these idiots are testing each other.' Luna inwardly sighs. 'This must be Raze.'

Raze coughs up some blood, but quickly counter attacks. He wraps his left leg around Skoll's arm that is still holding his wrist. Then he uses this leverage to lift himself up and contorts his body to deliver a kick with his right leg to Skoll's head.

Skoll lets go of Raze and staggers back a few steps. Only momentarily dazed and readies himself for another attack.

Raze rushes into again while pulling out a dagger and tossing it above Skoll's head. As he closes in, he extends his arm once again ready to attack with his claws.

At the last second though, Raze slides past as Skoll tries to block. Raze catches the dagger behind Skoll's back aiming it directly at the back of his neck.

"You lost this one." Raze says in a calm voice as he lowers his weapon. "You rely too much on your magic. Your hand to hand skills have become lackluster."

Skoll turns around to confront his words. "And yet I'm ranked above you for a reason. I focus on my strengths."

"I focus on my weaknesses." Raze scowls. His face contorted with disgust. "What happens if you run out or are unable to use magic? What will you do then? Rely on your pride?"

"Listen Raze. I have a job for you to do." Skoll sets his anger aside to explain the situation to him. After he's done, all Raze can do is to sigh.

"Yeah, I'll recue her." He says as he places his dagger back into the holster. "I need a break from training these idiots. You wouldn't believe the lack of talent these new recruits have."

Raze continues his rant. "We can't afford to loose someone like Raven. At this rate, there'd be no one to replace her."

"Not to mention that you have a crush on her." Skoll smirks. "Dont pretend that you're doing this for another reason."

"Make fun of me all you want. I'm not the one who lost the fight." Raze stretches his arms behind his back. "Shall we get going Luna? Let's ditch this prick."

Luna agrees to come with. In her mind, those two idiots had wasted enough time. It's about time she found someone to help her. Leaving Raven in the hands of the enemy for so long has gotten her worried.

Raven can handle herself, but seeing how easily they captured her, she had second thoughts about that. That just goes to show how strong the Zandarians are.

What could this new person do? She believes Skoll is strong enough because she had seen how easily he had defeated their army. But she had her doubts about Raze.

Skoll left without saying a word. Raze walked over to Luna and extended his hand for a greeting. "I normally don't do this, but a friend of Raven is a friend of mine."

His cold voice sends shivers down her spine. She could tell her was being genuine, but his lack of emotions felt strange. Especially when it came to this kind geasture.

"Let's just go." Luna says as she stares at his outstretched hand.

"Yeah. Sure." Raze puts his hand down. "So what's the game plan? Am I going to do all the work, or are we going to get help from your new pack?"

"New pack?" Luna nearly gasps.

"You turned them, right? It's now your responsibility to lead them."

Luna didn't think about this before. Sure, she took the initiative to get everyone out, but being a pack leader is a different story.

For starters, she knew nothing about werewolf culture. Then again, neither does her new pack. Would they just make up their own culture? Or woukd it just develop naturally over time?

Secondly. She doesn't have any experience leading any kind of group. Sure, she wanted to free everyone from the city. Most of them have been morally corrupted.

Then again, she wonders if they'll feel I indebted to her even though they aren't out of the woods yet.

Twenty miles away from the Zendarian capital, the newly freed werewolves are hiding in the woods.

A short time has passed, but Trey had already taken charge. With no way to contact his outside people, they'd have to rely on hunting for food and gathering their own supplies to feed this massive amount of people.

He put in charge those who knew how to hunt and make bows and arrows. He had thought about using his new body to hunt down animals, but decided to stick with something he is more familiar with for now.

Using his claws wasn't out of the question, but they didn't have time to learn a brand new hunting skill.

Only those who weren't familiar with using bows decided to use their wolf form to hunt. It was worth a shot. With a group this large, they needed all the hunters they could get.

Trey didn't know if they should keep moving away and flee into another country, or stay put until Luna and their savior returned.

Food was the only issue for him. Hunting too much in one area would get rid of all the animals.

Thanks to their new wolf form, they could easily survive the harsh weather. There was no need to build shelters yet.

"Fuck. And the water." Trey sighed to himself. But then he thought if animals could drink water from slightly polluted or dirty rivers, then why couldn't they?

Trey sat against a tree trunk thinking about of these things and more. Watching everyone go about their business trying to follow orders given to them.

Even if it's best for them to keep moving, Trey had no idea where they were. Until they find out which direction they needed to go, they have no choice but to stay here.

'Look at us now. Kings of a slave city reduced to beasts in a forest. I don't know which ones worse.' Trey thinks to himself as he watches two wolves taunting the human prisoner Derek.

'Perhaps there's hope yet.' Trey walks over to Derek. The two wolves quickly act like they weren't doing anything and steer clear if his approach. 'Tell me human, do you hate them too?'

A menacing smile creeps onto Trey's face. His sharp fangs causing Derek's fight or flight response to kick in.
