Peace is most often than not underrated. And peace was exactly what engulfed Vinn as she laid with Xander, cuddled up to him. He tentatively asked her questions that would have made her run should it have been asked by another.
But Xander Lenklock was special like that.
"Did it hurt?" He asked while Vinn shut her eyes against the world. His hands caressed her hips, his breath ghosting over her neck, while her back pressed against his front.
"I did it to stave away the pain in my heart… so while they did hurt, I didn't notice the pain as I was busy chasing another pain."
"When was the last time you did it?"
She stopped at the question, but she didn't turn to behold his eyes. Even without seeing his face, her back against him, she knew there was no judgment in his eyes.
