Chapter 273 - Li Feng Vs Thomas

"500 Hundred Consecutive Strikes," Li Feng whispered to himself, unsheathing and then sheathing his sword in a single, fluid motion.

In a single breath, 500 sword waves burst forth, cutting dozens if not hundreds of soldiers into multiple pieces.

His sword skill had taken a great leap, especially after Lilith's training and cultivating in the mana cave. His stamina had increased by several fold.

He was moving rapidly, cutting one enemy after another so fast that it was hard to even see him in one place. All those Mystveil soldiers could see were his after images.

"Unique skill... unique skill... this might be the best place to get a unique skill," the thoughts about unique skills filled his mind completely.

Lilith had talked so much about unique skills, that if one gets an offensive unique skill, it has the potential to destroy planets in a single strike. Although they never saw someone destroying a planet with their unique skill, so there was no way to justify if Lilith was right or not.

But why would she lie? They never saw one because there might not be one. After all, just getting a unique skill was a lifetime achievement in itself. Forget about reaching it to its full potential.

What actually fueled his rage was the fact that behind his back, several people had actually gotten unique skills.

Arpeus got a unique skill called 'Blink.' It granted him instant teleportation at short distances without costing any mana. Not to forget, it didn't take much of a toll on his mind as well, which meant he could continuously teleport for dozens of minutes without stopping.

Seiira, the goblin who died during the invade last time but was brought back to life and then, as a result, she turned into a White Jade Goblin alongside Semiath. Even she got a unique skill, although he didn't know what it actually does.

A goblin getting a unique skill before an martial devil like him. What absurdity was that?

Even that was fine until a random female demon got a unique skill regarding healing. They tried to hide it from him so that he wouldn't feel hurt. Some even still believe that he doesn't know it yet, but Li Feng has his own way of knowing things after all.

"Why me? Why am I getting left behind? I was supposed to be their leader," these thoughts were constantly on his mind.

"HAhhh!..." he shouts out loud, cutting yet another soldier into multiple cube-shaped pieces.

"Having fun beating the weaklings?" a voice came from behind him, causing him to halt for a second.

Li Feng turns around to see who it was, and all he saw was a casually dressed middle-aged man.

"I'm Thomas, an ex-math teacher and current Holy Knight member," he introduces himself. "How about showing some of your power to me?"

Li Feng was silent for a second before his brows frowned, his hand gripping the hilt of his sword.

"As you wish," he said, ready to strike, but the moment he said it, his eyes slightly widened in surprise.

Because Thomas's aura surged forth, becoming even bigger and stronger than before.

"Surprised?" Thomas asked with a fitting grin.

But Li Feng didn't say anything and immediately charged at him.

He swung his sword, but Thomas dodged it, but barely.

"Knew it, he's not that strong," a smile emerges on Li Feng's face.

"Whoa... whoa... whoa, I thought this was supposed to be a fight of intellect? Tell me, what's four plus eight?" he asked.

"You, are you trying to mock me? Even I know that much, it's twelve," Li Feng shouts. He felt like Thomas was mocking him for being an illiterate demon.

But the moment he said it, a huge amount of mana depleted from his body as if vanishing into thin air, and then once again, there was a huge surge in Thomas's aura once more.

"Huh?" Li Feng was momentarily frozen, his mind reeling from sensing the sudden burst of power in Thomas.

Clang!... Clang!...

Thomas immediately charged in with his sword, his speed matching Li Feng's blow for blow.

They exchanged several strikes in an instant. Li Feng had become slightly slower, while Thomas's situation was the complete opposite.

Li Feng gritted his teeth. He immediately realized the situation. It seemed Thomas had some kind of unique skill related to questions. Once answered correctly, it would suck the energy from the one who answered.

"He definitely got me for a second," Li Feng thought to himself, his panic vanishing as if he finally had a hold on the situation.

"Mr. Intelligent, how about telling me the square root of 156?" Thomas asked amidst their battle, their swords clashing with each word.

"I don't give a shit!" Li Feng shouted, charging forward. But then, once again, a huge amount of mana depleted from his body, and in front of him, Thomas's aura grew stronger.

"Why this time?" Li Feng froze once again, losing his footing.

BAM!

Thomas punched him hard in the abdomen, sending him flying across the battlefield. His body skidded and bounced against the ground, but then Li Feng twisted his body, digging his feet in to regain his footing.

Thomas didn't even give him a chance to breathe, immediately charging in without wasting a moment.

"What? You only show your power against weaklings? Where is your consecutive strikes now?" Thomas shouted in a provocative tone, spitting nonsense on purpose.

"Fuck off!" Li Feng shouted, clenching the sheath of his sword. "Thousand Consecutive Strikes—GAH!" Blood spurted from his mouth.

But before he could even unsheath his sword to unleash the Thousand Consecutive Strikes, a huge portion of his energy depleted once again. Having been depleted so many times in such a short amount of time, blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

He lost his footing, his strike pausing midway.

"Why this time? I didn't even answer?" he whispered to himself, completely confused. Nothing was making sense.

Until, suddenly, it did. His eyes widened once again as the horrifying truth dawned on him.

Thomas couldn't help but laugh out loud, grabbing his stomach. "You finally realized it, huh? My unique skill, Q & A, accepts any answer. Whether it's right, wrong, or completely off-topic, as long as you speak after I do, you only fuel my power," he explained with cruel glee.

Li Feng gritted his teeth in anger, his body feeling exhausted, as if he had just run a marathon. Still, it wasn't enough to take him down. He unsheathed his sword once again, ready to attack.

"No more answers. I need to shut my mouth and focus solely on beating him," he whispered to himself, his grip tight on his sword.

But at that moment, someone jumped high from behind Thomas, directly slamming a huge broadsword down on him.

But Thomas, already quite strong, immediately turned around, blocking the huge blow with his own sword.

The attacker immediately took a few steps back, arriving directly beside Li Feng.

Tall, muscular man with the face and horns of a goat. It was none other than Baron nova, one of Cryptus's main disciples.

"Are you alright, Commander?" Baron asked.

Li Feng nodded. "Yes. And don't ask questions, just make sure you don't reply to whatever he says. Stay silent," he instructed immediately.

"Hey, that's unfair!" Thomas shouted from behind. "And two against one? What cowardly tactic is this?" he spoke again, spitting any bullshit in the form of a question.

But just as Li Feng had instructed, Baron didn't give him any attention at all.

Instead, he turned to Li Feng. "You go from right, I'll charge from left."

But the moment he said it, a portion of his energy depleted from his body.

Thomas's aura magnified again, so much that it made both of them take a few steps back. Apparently, even though not directed at him, Baron had still spoken, and that also counted as an answer.

"Haha... I received all this much energy with just a few questions. Just how strong yet stupid you guys are?" Thomas laughed once again, grabbing his belly in the process.

Yet all Li Feng could do was grit his teeth, since if he replied to his taunts with words, it would only fuel his power even more.

"I need to give him some answers with my sword," Li Feng thought, his resolve hardening.

Meanwhile, somewhere else on the battlefield, Arpeus was wreaking havoc. Not with overwhelming strength, but with the clever, devastating use of his unique skill, 'Blink'.

He held Euryale and Stheno, the gorgon sisters, securely in his arms. His plan was brutally simple.

He would just keep teleporting in front of the enemy, and before they could even react, they would be locking eyes with one of the sisters. In an instant, they would turn into a silver or gold statue, frozen for good.

This combination was just too effective. It wasn't just ordinary soldiers; Arpeus had already turned many of the important-looking officers and three sub-branch Holy Knight members into statues without wasting any effort. They were a cheat code in themselves.

Their fear had spread so much in such a short time that whenever one soldier spotted a gold or silver human statue, they would keep their eyes closed in panic, only to end up getting killed by another DreadHaven soldier instead.

Not to forget the newly deployed, highly advanced robots. They had quite high endurance; it took several of DreadHaven's soldiers to fight one for a few minutes just to defeat it. Even Arpeus realized that it might take him at least a minute to defeat one of them, and that was if he was at full strength.

Yet, with these twin sisters in hand, they would turn the robots into unmoving statues, rendering all their high-tech defenses, elemental resistances, and magic resistance completely useless.

Arpeus could blink six times a second, and had been doing so from the start. Because of this, the three of them now had the highest kill count on the entire field, even surpassing Reiza.

Who would have actually thought that, among all those mighty warriors of DreadHaven, these three would have the highest kill count at the start?

"I'm starting to feel dizzy. Would you mind if we take a break?" Arpeus asked. After all those continuous blinks, his body had started to feel exhausted.

"Yes, I was going to say the same thing. My eyes hurt as well," both of the sisters said in unison, their tones perfectly in sync.

Arpeus immediately blinked a bit farther away from the battlefield, landing on a nearby cliff.

They sat down there to rest. Looking down from above, they could have a clear view of the ongoing battle. At this point, even he had realized that all those soldiers were just cannon fodder.

The teleportation portal was still there. Dozens of soldiers were just kept popping out as if they had an endless supply.

"If we need to win, either we need to destroy that portal somehow, or..." he says, looking around.

His gaze fell upon the Holy Knights. Just killing these soldiers wouldn't be enough. If they truly wanted to defeat them, then they must defeat each of those Holy Knights and make Mystveil vulnerable.

The same went for them as well. If Mystveil needed to win, they had to defeat the outstanding individuals of DreadHaven first.

At this point, it was a contest of which side had a more capable and stronger team of people.

Stheno stood up, looking down below with a worried expression. "Still, the numbers are overwhelming. We were at par at the start, but now the difference in numbers is starting to show itself. It won't be good if this goes on like this."

Euryale nods with a solemn expression. "You're right, sis. If only Lady Scarlett comes back, all of this would end in a few minutes."
