Hearing his promise, Zhane exhaled a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. He gave a small, respectful nod, and around them, the other Sullivan brothers straightened, their faces solemn. It was as if, in that silent moment, each of them made a vow, one of loyalty and resolve.
After all, they weren't a bunch of ungrateful wretches. Hera and Zhane had done them a great favor by saving Cherry and even exposing Sophia's cruel scheme to murder their younger sister, a truth that would have shattered their family from within.
Compared to that, this small promise was nothing.
They also understood that Zhane, and Hera who had been operating from the shadows, didn't have to intervene, but they did. And though the Sullivans weren't naïve enough to believe the pair acted without motive, a favor was still a favor.
