Chapter 8 - Chapter 8- Gossip and Quidditch

The word spread like wildfire, and soon news of Gryffindor's new seeker and beater had even reached Hogsmeade, at least that was what the older players said. I began to receive sweets and gifts, and so did Harry. In my case, there were a few admirers, but Ginny scared them off, so sad.

Ron and Ginny were shocked and excited when we told them, and though Hermione tried to hide it, she was a bit annoyed that it came from breaking the rules. Eventually, our brooms came in and as Nightwing and Hewdwig delivered them I was pleased to see I had received letters back from my parents and godparents, all it said was to be careful and follow the rules, except for my dad and Sirius. Hmmmm, I wondered, should I write to Remus?

The Nimbus Two Thousand was gleaming in all of its beauty and both Harry's and my broom were passed around, to be explored by many. Malfoy now had a permanent scowl on his face, angry that we weren't expelled, honestly, he looked pathetic! HA!

I stared down at my toast and pumpkin juice, beneath the surface of happiness and excitement, I was quite nervous and no one could tell but Ginny. She kept telling me to have a piece of toast or drink some juice, I appreciated it, but I was just too scared at the thought. Ginny had her arms around mine and with the other, she pulled my face down so I was looking into her eyes. "Johan, you can do this, you're a natural, it's in your blood!" And with that, she kissed me on the cheek and stood up, "I'll see you on the pitch, Hermione! Ron! Come on let's go!"

Harry was nervous too, I could tell, a brotherly connection type of thing really, I walked with him and despite the storm of emotions and fright in my mind, I managed to calm him to a certain degree and we marched out with the team to the changing rooms, where we adorned the signature red robes and walked onto the cheering pitch, the problem was, there was a sea of red, but also a sea of green, the first of many matches had to be against Slytherin!

I watched as Wood and Marcus Flint grappled with each other in the pre-match handshake. Madam Hooch was at the center of the field and she blew the whistle, immediately we shot up into the air, the balls were released and a bludger came hurtling towards my face, I flew to the side and hurtled it into Marcus Flint who almost fell off his broom.

Montague and Bletchley were hurling bludgers everywhere, but none hit a Gryffindor as I was somehow always there, sometimes when I had a lapse of judgment, Fred would be there to cover me, and we were fast becoming very good partners at the beater's position. Harry was zooming around the pitch, his eyes screwed up under his spectacles.

Terence Higgs was the opposing seeker from Slytherin and he seemed to be giving Harry a hard time, barging and shoving him.

As the match progressed, tension hung thick in the air, with both Gryffindor and Slytherin supporters cheering loudly from the stands. The players on both teams were giving their all, determined to lead their house to victory.

Despite the aggressive tactics of the Slytherin team, Fred and I, managed to hold our own as Gryffindor's beaters, deflecting bludgers with precision and protecting our teammates from harm. Meanwhile, Harry's nimble flying skills kept him ahead of Slytherin's seeker, Terence Higgs, as he searched for the elusive golden snitch.

The Gryffindors, led by Oliver Wood, showed remarkable teamwork as they weaved through the air, passing the quaffle with speed and accuracy. Angelina Johnson, Alicia Spinnet, and Katie Bell worked tirelessly to score points for their team, dodging Slytherin's defense and aiming for the goalposts.

On the other side of the pitch, Slytherin's players fought fiercely, determined to maintain their reputation as formidable opponents. Marcus Flint led his team with ferocity, directing their movements and strategies with a commanding presence. Despite the Gryffindor team's efforts, Slytherin managed to keep the score close, with both sides neck and neck as the match reached its climax.

Amidst the excitement and adrenaline of the game, I couldn't shake off the nerves that gnawed at me. The pressure to perform weighed heavily on my shoulders, but I drew strength from the unwavering support of my teammates and the encouraging words of Ginny, who watched from the stands with fierce determination in her eyes.

As the match entered its final moments, Harry's sharp eyes caught a glint of gold near the Slytherin goalposts. With a burst of speed, he dove towards the snitch, narrowly avoiding Higgs' attempts to block him. With a swift and decisive motion, Harry closed his hand around the snitch, securing victory for Gryffindor amidst a deafening roar of applause from their supporters.

The Gryffindor team erupted into cheers and jubilation as they celebrated their hard-fought win. I felt a rush of pride and exhilaration course through me, knowing that I had played a crucial role in their victory. As I embraced my teammates on the pitch, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the bonds of friendship and camaraderie that had carried us through the match.

As the sun set over the Quidditch pitch, painting the sky in hues of orange and gold, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement for the adventures and challenges that lay ahead in my journey at Hogwarts.

As the celebrations on the pitch subsided, I found myself reflecting on the exhilarating experience of my first Quidditch match. The rush of adrenaline still coursed through my veins as I relived the thrilling moments of the game in my mind.

Walking back to the Gryffindor common room with my teammates, I couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie and unity among us. Despite the intense competition on the pitch, the bonds forged during our victory were undeniable, solidifying our status as a formidable team.

Entering the common room, we were greeted with cheers and applause from our fellow Gryffindors, who had been eagerly awaiting news of the match. My heart swelled with pride as I realized the impact our victory had on the entire house, uniting us in a shared sense of triumph and joy.

Amidst the celebrations, I caught sight of Ginny's radiant smile from across the room. Making my way towards her, I felt a sense of warmth and contentment wash over me, grateful for her unwavering support and encouragement throughout the match.

"Congratulations, Johan! You were amazing out there," Ginny exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with pride.

"Thanks, Ginny. I couldn't have done it without you," I replied, my voice filled with gratitude, kissing her as we walked to the fireplace with food in our hands.

As we mingled with our friends and fellow Gryffindors, I couldn't shake off the sense of fulfillment that washed over me. Despite the challenges and uncertainties that lay ahead, I knew that as long as I had the support of my friends and the courage to face whatever came my way, I would be able to overcome any obstacle.

And as the night wore on and the celebrations continued, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement for the adventures and experiences that awaited me in the magical world of Hogwarts.

With newfound confidence and determination, I looked forward to the future, ready to embrace whatever challenges and opportunities came my way as I embarked on my journey at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
