Karna began walking forward as he used the soul lamp to navigate the way through the seal. He was able to feel the intensity of the darkness increase on his skin as he took each step forward. He knew he was coming close to one of the deadly sins.
As he went closer, it began to feel as if light was bending in front of him.
'What is happening?' Karna thought as he focused his mind, and suddenly everything went back to normal.
'Was someone trying to use illusion magic on me?' he thought as he turned and looked around.
"How is this possible?" Karna turned to the voice he heard from the side. What awaited him was not something he could describe with words.
The creature seemed to be the amalgamation of words, clay, and structures that kept on shifting again and again. Karna did not find even a single object in its body that resembled an eye. But it had multiple mouths throughout its body.
'This thing, it's not just born in the darkness; the evolution that has taken place in its being is adapted to a world completely different from the conditions of my world. And from what it said, its illusion attack did not affect me for some reason.'
"How can this be possible?" the demon started scratching his head as drops of blood began to flow from those places.
"Do you not have any wish to gain riches that dwarf the coffers of your kings?" the demon asked.
"Ah, well, the truth is I have a lot of money from my inheritance, with which I have no idea what to do. Plus, I even have a lot of patented ideas that are getting me money periodically, so no need for it, I guess," Karna replied simply.
"What about women?"
"I have a girlfriend, so I am alright in that department."
"Power to control the kingdom and the world?" the demon asked again.
"That actually seems like more of a headache than a boon. I know for sure that master started to lose his hair after he became the guild master."
"What about strength that can make you unstoppable?"
"I am one of the strongest in the world, and if my plans work out well, I will become the strongest as well," Karna calmly replied.
At this, the demon started wailing and screaming as it began to act as if it couldn't comprehend the kind of replies made by Karna.
"How… how can there be a being like you who has no sort of envy? You are young, you are supposed to be filled with desires. This is not fair. My illusions won't work on you like this!!!" Envy started screaming out, making everything click in Karna's head.
"Oh, so the illusion was aimed at immersing me in the desires I want from others. But since most of them are not there, I was easily able to break out of it," Karna said as he began to make claws appear on his arms with his death aura.
"Well, sucks to be you, I suppose," Karna said as he struck straight at the center of the being and injected pure death energy into it. Within seconds, the being of Envy turned into black smoke without even having a chance to say its last words.
As the demon disappeared, Karna tried to suck in the darkness around him. He found out that he could, but not entirely.
'I guess I can now eat the darkness released by Envy, but it seems like I have to kill the rest to consume the entire thing,' he thought as the slits at the end of his mouth expanded and he started sucking in all the dark energy he could.
As soon as he finished, he discovered a new ability he had gained.
"Illusion Affliction. As long as my death-based attacks are in contact with the enemy, they will be distracted by visions of their dreams in life appearing right in front of their eyes.
That's nifty. Chances are the others will also give me a particular ability when I take them down," Karna muttered to himself as he began walking forward again.
"I hope the others are having a better time in Edolas. Seeing that Frostborn's Lacrima had vanished along with my house, they might get the extra Lacrima pieces I left in the house, along with a dragon inside a crystal.
I hope things don't get too bad," he said as he went deeper into the cave to face his next enemy.
In Edolas at the time.
Edolas, a world which faces scarcity of magic, yet still shows its beauty with its floating cities and beautiful architecture. It was a world whose inhabitants were ruled under the iron fist of their king, who, in the name of saving their world from the complete depletion of magic, was ready to do anything to acquire magic no matter the cost.
The king believed that as long as he did not pull his punches and moved forward without holding back, nothing would be able to stop him from achieving his aim. That belief led him to ignore the number of victims created by the Anima all these years. But today, that spelled his doom as he watched the floating cities fall one by one in front of him.
They didn't fall because of the lack of magic; they never fell because their own citizens abused them.
"My king, we need to move now, the Frost Dragon Empress is coming close," Sugar Boy said as he tried to pick up the fallen king. There were many victims all around them, people injured, dying. But Sugar Boy was unable to help them in any way right now, so he was doing his best to at least save his king.
"What about Erza and the others?" the king asked, still in shock at the fall of his kingdom.
Sugar Boy swallowed as he answered.
"Knightwalker had fallen at the hands of the Card demon. One of our soldiers managed to send signals toward us before he was taken down by the rest of the Earthland wizards. We have no time, my king, we need to move now," Sugar Boy said hurriedly, but the sudden drop in temperature made him freeze.
"No, we can't be that late," he said grudgingly as he heard the roar of anger behind him.
"YOU TOOK HIM FROM ME BEFORE I COULD HAVE HIM. I'M GONNA WIPE OUT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU IN THIS WORLD!" Ultear screamed as she began her wrath.
A/N- hope you like it and every 100 powerstone gets extra chapter of Jason.
