After dinner, Valentine Teller and Mark Reed went out together to watch a movie.
At the entrance of the cinema, they were early, so Mark Reed went to a shoe polishing shop across the road to polish his shoes to kill time.
Valentine Teller sat beside him waiting, watching the shoe polisher, with his head buried, carefully polishing Mark Reed's leather shoes until they looked brand new, shiny enough that an ant would probably slip off.
Once the shoes were almost polished, Valentine Teller took out some money and handed it to the shoe polisher.
"Thank you, please come again."
The shoe polisher finally looked up, his slightly familiar face lined with weathered wrinkles, and his small eyes stared at Valentine Teller in astonishment. When he turned his head and saw Mark Reed's expressionless face, he was even more shocked, falling back onto the low stool.
