Chapter 278 - The point of no return 2

IMOGEN'S POV

I looked at Isaac's coat still hanging on the back of my door. Five days it had been there. Five days since he'd walked out of my life and into whatever accident had put him in the hospital.

My phone buzzed with another text from his mother asking if I was okay. I hadn't answered any of her calls since yesterday. I couldn't handle putting this kind of worry on her, on top of everything else.

The hospital was a twenty-minute drive from my apartment. I'd promised myself that I would make a trip there every day since Isaac's accident, sitting beside his bed and that I would wait for some sign that he was still in there somewhere.

The parking garage smelled like concrete and car exhaust. I took the elevator to the third floor and walked through corridors that were becoming too familiar. Past the nurses' station where they all knew my name now. Past other rooms where other families waited for other miracles.
